How old is the oldest person you know? Not someone you’ve heard about, but someone actually known to you.

I know an 89 year old but no one older.

OP posts:
PollyFlinderz · 17/11/2018 19:12

My dad aged 86 and prior to that it was my grandad aged 99.

DowntonCrabby · 17/11/2018 19:13

My next door neighbour is 92 and a friend’s mum is 93.

User5trillion · 17/11/2018 19:15

Grans boyfriend! Is 95, still fit as a fiddle, driving, learning languages doing yoga. Great grandad lived to 6 weeks off 100.

IndigoSpritz · 17/11/2018 19:18

My neighbour in the downstairs flat is 93. My Dad is 86.

Applepudding2018 · 17/11/2018 19:18

My dad is 91 - he's not well though. I think the oldest person at his care home is 97.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/11/2018 19:19

My MIL at 93 - but she does not want to go on living any longer and prays constantly for delivery. She says she's had enough.

TeenTimesTwo · 17/11/2018 19:21

My DGM was 100. Current oldest I know is my DF who is 88.

MiriAmmerman · 17/11/2018 19:21

My great-aunt (paternal grandad's sister) is 102. She was in her own home until the age of 99. She now lives in a care home. Is very frail, with little hearing and sight and low mobility, but still completely compos mentis.
We know we can't have much longer with her, but the whole family will be devastated when she dies because she's so lovely.

Babybearsporij · 17/11/2018 19:22

I've spoken to an 109 year old on the phone. He still sounded very sprightly and was "with it" and making jokes.

The oldest person I personally know is 84.

Notatallobvious · 17/11/2018 19:25

My 95 year old granny has a friend who is 100. She looks amazing and you'd think she was about 80.

PivotPivotPIVOTTT · 17/11/2018 19:32

My great uncle who is 88. Was still driving up until a few months ago when he had a stroke. Visited him in hospital a couple of weeks later and he looks fit and well appearance wise for a man his age who has just had a stroke. No memory problems but can't hear well hasnt done for years and now has mobility problems due to the stroke.

deptfordgirl · 17/11/2018 19:46

My dh's gran is 93 and still in great physical and mental shape.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 17/11/2018 19:49

101 year old.

The 102 year old who was at his 100th birthday rather stole his thunder!

PickleSarnie · 17/11/2018 19:52

My granny who is 99. Still sharp as a tack and lives pretty independently despite her insistence that she's ancient and doddery.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 17/11/2018 20:10

Wow at all these people who are still active!

Both my Nana’s are alive: Paternal Nana is 91 - fit as a fiddle, goes abroad on holidays, has a better social life than me, can be abit foggy at time with her memory but she’s well enough to live in assisted accommodation (at her insistence after trialling living with family and found she liked more independence and privacy). Maternal Nana is 92 - sadly she’s very infirm and has dementia.

Chewbecca · 17/11/2018 20:14

My grandad is 95 & in great health, very busy and loving life.

Givemeallyourcucumber · 17/11/2018 20:16

My lovely next door neighbor died at the beginning of this year. He fell over and didn't recover, he was 107. He still went out in the garden to potter about!

JaiNotJay · 17/11/2018 20:18

My granny is 92. She is currently enjoying a weekend away in the Highlands with her 87 year old friend!

Ethelswith · 17/11/2018 20:23

I'm possibly slightly breaking the rules here. But my DUncle died very recently aged 96.

I have 3 other nonagenarians in the family

Biancadelriosback · 17/11/2018 20:25

My 95 year old grandad and 94 grandma. They still go ballroom dancing twice a week.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 17/11/2018 20:26

My grandpa is 94 he still goes dancing and live by himself. He’s in good health and sharp as a tack. He often says he won’t be hear next year but the family reckons that it will be hi, cockroaches and Keith Richards left long after everyone else.

CaptainCallisto · 17/11/2018 20:27

One of my patients is 104, and still goes on regular trips to Belgium to visit his father's grave. He always brings us back a box of chocolate shells Grin

Next oldest is my granny at 95. She is just beginning to slow down, but still takes the dog out twice a day. To be honest I think as long as she's got the dog she'll be fine, but he's getting on a bit himself and once he goes I think she'll deteriorate pretty rapidly.

HairyToity · 17/11/2018 20:28

My great uncle at 93.

Athena51 · 17/11/2018 20:30

My DP's mum is 92.

ShowOfHands · 17/11/2018 20:31

I have a 99yo friend and my grandma is 94. I also know a woman through work who is 97 and spritely.

My aunty was in the Guinness book of world records as the oldest living person in the UK for a time. She was 113 and fit as a fiddle. Her DH died on the Somme and she never remarried.
