Puncturing air tight meat packages in supermarkets. Did anyone else used to do this?

I know this is really odd, but when I was a young child and I'd go to the supermarket with my DM I had this thing where I'd stick my finger nails into the airtight packets of meat until they burst. I'd do it to all kinds of meat and sometimes sausages or fish as well. I found it really satisfying, kind of like when you pop bubble wrap.. Blush my DM never knew that I did this and would quite rightfully have hit the roof if she found out.

As an adult I'm horrified though. I mean I was making perfectly decent pieces of meat inediable. Some poor sod will have picked up those packets of meat, and when going to prepare a meal found them to be rancid.

Did anyond else ever do this? Is it a thing?

No! That's awful!

BarMcBarsen · 15/11/2018 19:04

Not a thing! Weird.

ShatnersBassoon · 15/11/2018 19:09

I stuck my thumb in a Tunnock's snowball in the Co-op when I was about 5.

No. How strange.

Winterfellismyhome · 15/11/2018 19:30

Not meat but on packets of bottled water. Id poke holes in the plastic between the bottle tops. No idea why

Mookie81 · 15/11/2018 19:34

I used to shake the bottles of bath stuff that were 2 types in one bottle ConfusedGrin

MrsHopity · 15/11/2018 19:50

Not with meat, but packets like mushrooms and also with multipacks of drinks.

I had completely forgotten I did this until my son recently tried to put his finger through some mushrooms in a shop and remebered how much I enjoyed it as a child.

MysweetAudrina · 15/11/2018 19:52

No, but I used to weigh grapes, but the sticker on and then fill the bag up more.

In the days of stickers I used to change the sticker prices to something cheaper.

So more of a common thief than a vandal.

Caprisunorange · 15/11/2018 19:53

It took me ages to understand what you meant! I can see that would be quite satisfying. You were a small kid, don’t beat yourself up. If anything blame your parents for not noticing Smile

sadsadsady · 15/11/2018 19:54

Ds loves to do this. (Obviously I don't let him). Drives me fucking mad. You should see what he does to toilet and kitchen roll packs. Angry😡

LuckyDiamond · 15/11/2018 19:55

My brother and I unzipped all the beanbags in MFI while bored. We were little shits.

cheesymashandbeans · 15/11/2018 20:02

Didn't make actual holes but I know what you mean OP, in fact, randomly, we were only talking about this in the office this afternoon.. several people in the office said when they were kids they like to poke the meat in supermarkets, it just felt nice!

happystory · 15/11/2018 20:03

Anyone remember when people didn't wallpaper into a corner and there was a curve in the paper? Couldn't resist popping that!

LookImAHooman · 15/11/2018 20:10

My brother and I unzipped all the beanbags in MFI while bored

Fuck

thenightsky · 15/11/2018 20:11

happystory I got very harshly told off for doing that in our newly papered sitting room! It was too tempting not to though.

Regressionconfession · 15/11/2018 20:15

Yes I did this!!! They use to be more cling film than shrink wrap and my finger would pop right through. Me and my brother dared each other.

PivotPivotPIVOTTT · 15/11/2018 20:15

I used to fold the leaves on my gran's spider plant until they cracked.

swapsicles · 15/11/2018 20:18

I used to poke the meat so that the blood would swish about between the polystyrene and clingfilm, would never break them but still got told off!

NicoAndTheNiners · 15/11/2018 20:19

No.

But when dd was little she bolted for the stand of pick and mix buckets/tubs in the village co-op and started climbing up it using the buckets like steps. The whole thing collapsed and was beyond repair.

15 years on and it's never been replaced. I blame dd for the fact we are living in a pick and mix free zone

Pinkyponkcustard · 15/11/2018 20:21

I used to love to stick my nails in the anaglypta wallpaper

PhilomenaButterfly · 15/11/2018 20:27

I picked all woodchip off our wallpaper and the candlewick off my bedspread.

ManonBlackbeak · 15/11/2018 20:27

The MFI story reminds me of DB and playing hide and seek in the B&Q display kitchens.

ShatnersBassoon · 15/11/2018 20:51

I de-wicked a bedspread too, even though I knew double pneumonia was a very real risk of being infinitesimally cooler at night.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/11/2018 21:20

There was a thread on here, I think, about people punching cakes in the supermarket!
