Thanks Einstein's. We got it. Not a book we have read but your hint made it so obvious. Thank you :)

Clawdy · 16/11/2018 17:53

Finally got the Evolution one, hardest of the lot for me!

Isitme13 · 16/11/2018 20:23

I can’t get the hospital sign one - only one left!

I’ve tried all combinations of things doctors/nurses might say, after hints from this thread, but I’m not even getting a ‘nearly’ Sad

Think about a doctor approaching you with a syringe - what might they say to you - and remember pain is indicated on the sign.

bridgetreilly · 16/11/2018 20:35

That's a different author with a pretty similar name who wrote the famous book about the jungles of Africa. In case anyone else is similarly scratching their heads!

THANK YOU!!!

brizzledrizzle · 16/11/2018 20:58

Yep, I missed the first word - it was 4am!

drspouse · 16/11/2018 21:19

Is the warning signs book title not in English? I have all the others.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/11/2018 21:20

I believe the original was not in English, but it has been translated, and it is the English translation that is the answer.

Think of a synonym for hazardous, and I think you will get it.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/11/2018 21:21

Oh, and John Malkovich was in the film adaptation.

Dottierichardson · 16/11/2018 21:21

The title's English but the book isn't...you may have the seen the movie or the modern update of it with 'Buffy'...

NoSquirrels · 16/11/2018 21:22

drspouse funny you should say that! It is in English for this answer but it’s well known under its original French title...

drspouse · 16/11/2018 21:27

Again I think I must have mistyped - got it now! Yay!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/11/2018 21:34

👏🎉

@ thetemptationofchocolate
Thankyou. Hadn't heard of this before - really enjoyed it. Managed to complete all the clues (thanks to other posters and Google). Smile

Witchend · 17/11/2018 00:28

Done it! Was stuck on the Bold American for ages. Obvious as soon as you get it though.

WitchBottle · 17/11/2018 07:45

Was it just me, or was it less good than previous years? Some of the clues seemed a bit illiterate — like the danger signs/meeting place clue which is misleading because ‘meeting place’ simply isn’t a synonym for the second word of the book title. And there were lots of much more obvious/appropriate books for the diver clue. And the dust clue is not in fact a novel title as such, so I bet lots of people are not making the connection...?

I just seem to remember enjoying the cleverness of the clues more in other years.

ClashCityRocker · 17/11/2018 09:06

I think most of the clues were easier than previous years, bar a few.

Didn't like the diver one. I don't think I'd have got that one even if I'd read the book.

Also the boat was stretching it a little I think.

BedHair · 17/11/2018 09:17

I agree on some of the clues being so easy that I kept thinking ‘Well, it can’t be THAT, because it’s way too obvious’ (Jude and Gilead and Peru and the tail in the water). Plus about the diver clue. It’s a bit of a nothing-y title.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/11/2018 09:41

I can't do the diving lady and would never have got the signs one without clues on here.

BedHair · 17/11/2018 09:49

Remus, the diving one is the new book by an author who published a huge bestseller involving a young female person on a long-distance mode of public transport.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/11/2018 09:52

Ah. Thanks, Bed. I would never have got it - never heard of it and wouldn't have touched her first one with a barge pole! :)

BedHair · 17/11/2018 09:54

Likewise, Remus! It is a bit of a blah title, even for rabid fans of that author, and the clue does suggest more of a focus on diving...?

SpaceAhoy · 17/11/2018 12:44

I liked the urn one, vineyard and the blimp one.

My bad spelling had me cross with the Gilead and dangerous meeting place ones.

I had no idea on the elephant, boat or diver ones but figured out because of the clues on this thread. Thank you.

Tarrag0n · 17/11/2018 17:53

Well I'm up to 15 now, but stuck on the boat, the diver, the meeting place signpost, the little cluster of fires (I feel like that should be obvious!) and the urn. Any clues on these? Pretty please?

Tarrag0n · 17/11/2018 18:09

Oh it's OK, I've now got them all, with a little help from this thread! Thanks everyone 😘
