Following on from the modern dining trends that annoy you what general modern stuff annoys you?

Mine are:

People taking selfies in toilets

Being asked for my email address at a till

Wasteful plastic tat in the shops

OP posts:

Caution I live virtually opposite a Gregg's and every time I pop in for some stotties or a sliced half bloomer, for the boys, I get asked whether I'm eating in or taking out. I'm tempted to answer that yes, I intend to sit in the cafe and munch my way through an entire loaf of plain bread.

Cakemonger · 13/11/2018 22:52

haha PickAChew

ferntwist · 13/11/2018 23:09

PickaChew that’s hilarious. I wonder if it’s because there would be a difference in the price?

sizzledrizz · 13/11/2018 23:17

non-stop selfies.
pedestrians just walking into a road into oncoming traffic and expecting you to stop in the middle of the road, I have taken to shouting out of my window "Do you want to die?!"
Being asked what my salary is when setting up a direct debit for my utilities bills
Constantly being called back by EE, when the problem with my phone had been solved, at odd hours i.e. 9pm.
Buying tea in a coffee shop and not even getting it in a tea pot, but just a tea bag in a mug.

Buying concert tickets is such a ball ache - they always go on sale on a weekday at 9am when I’m at work, the website crashes due to booking overload, the phone lines are constantly engaged. Then all tickets sell out in record time, every time. I don’t remember it being like that when I was a teen ffs

GinZing · 13/11/2018 23:42

When I say concert of course I mean gig. I’m not ancient really.

SarfE4sticated · 14/11/2018 05:49

I don't like the prevalence of swearing nowadays (I sound ancient I know). Every other word seems to be 'fuck', even during quite friendly conversations. I

YY to the tea bag and a mug of hot water - I want a pot of tea.

I also don't like mini-me clothes for children, especially flat caps and skinny jeans for babies, and leather miniskirts and crop tops for small girls (yes I did actually see this).

Smallhorse · 14/11/2018 07:55

“Standing up to cancer”
“ kicking cancer’s butt”

Makes me want to seethe and also cry.

Smallhorse · 14/11/2018 07:56

“Raising awareness “ of cancer.

Believe me, I’m bloody aware.
I don’t know anyone who isn’t.

Smallhorse · 14/11/2018 07:59

Vegans who bam on about how varied a vegan diet is.

By definition it’s far less varied than one that doesn’t exclude huge rafts of delicious foods

ZaZathecat · 14/11/2018 08:55

waxy Grin

twomadefour · 14/11/2018 09:21

Everything that's been mentioned, as well as using the word 'candy'.

It's not candy-we eat sweets not bloody candy!!!

JosephineDupont · 14/11/2018 09:41

Teabag in a mug is the pits.

AndromedaPerseus · 14/11/2018 09:53

Cafes who make decent coffee but can’t seem to make a decent cup of tea. I was given a mug with a teabag and lukewarm water in a famous
cafe. I pointed out the water needs to be boiled before adding said teabag

Constant selfies...so even when they're on holiday & you're hoping to see pictures of where they are..all you get is constant close up selfies & them/ them & partner ...not even a bit of scenery in the background ...your face isn't that amazing you know Angry

Big injected puffy fish lips & stiff botox faces.
Ridiculous over the top eyebrows.
Fake tan.
Lycra exercise shorts & leggings (I'm just jealous as my arse & thighs are too big!)What happened to wide legged tracksuit bottoms?Sad
Winter bobble hats (especially real fur onesAngry)...common as dog shit! Why do people all want to look the same Confused

The love of pop stars that appear to worship satan, openly promoting it in their videos Confused

Massive expensive weddings.
Marriage and babies still being the 'best thing ever', despite it being a massive lie.

Scallywag1903 · 14/11/2018 11:24

Trolling! My absolute pet hate! Why are people so vitriolic these days? Oh I know, because they can hide behind SM and not say face to face.

GourmetGold · 14/11/2018 11:27

Oh and massive posh cars on credit hire or whatever you call it...costing nearly a whole salary..only impressing themselves at a very high cost!

bobstersmum · 14/11/2018 11:34

People pushing dogs in a pram!

Shockers · 14/11/2018 11:53

My mum bought me a vegan bobble from Austria last Christmas, Gourmet. I’m scared to wear it on my hat because people might think it’s real. I wish I was brave enough because my lovely veggie mum died at the beginning of autumn and she was really pleased with it.
But I judge real fur on hats and coats, so I daren’t Sad.
I’ll just pet it instead; it’s lovely.

Fooferella · 14/11/2018 11:56

Massive 4x4 Range Rovers (or any giant sized luxury SUV) that have never even seen a dirt road let alone gone off-road so you know there is no practical reason to own one (like living up the side of a mountain in Scotland with 5 children, but if you did then you probably wouldn't be able to afford your Chelsea Tractor). These usually have chrome everywhere and tinted windows. You are not cool, and no-one cares how rich you are except for you. What you really are is a twat who is killing the environment and taking up more space than necessary on this already crowded planet with your gas-guzzling monstrosity.

GourmetGold · 14/11/2018 12:08

Sorry @Shockers that's a difficult one Sad I've nothing against fake fur (I've had coats with fake fur collars) but it's difficult if it's so realistic! So sorry about your mum, I'm sure she'd understand if you weren't comfortable wearing it due to it looking so real?

GourmetGold · 14/11/2018 12:13

Oh yes coffee worship...I agree, what's wrong with tea? Go to USA..they seem to like it more than we do now..they have posh 'Tea Houses' with proper tea pots!

Mitzimaybe · 14/11/2018 13:09

The worst for me is people taking photos on their phones in art galleries. As I experienced the last time I visited the Louvre. Being elbowed by hordes of tourists fighting to photograph the Venus de Milo kind of ruined the moment a bit. Why would you visit and not actually look at the art, just photograph it? You could just stay home and google image all the art!

Had the same in the Musee D'Orsay. I swear that half of the people in there did not actually look at a single painting. They stood with their backs to the art, taking selfies. "Here's me with a famous painting." "Here's me with another famous painting." "Here's me with a painting which might be famous: I'm not sure, so I'd best take a selfie with it just in case."

Lweji · 15/11/2018 09:07

It's not really a modern trend, though. I've always noticed people wanted to be fotographed near whatever thing instead of photographing said thing.
