I still struggle with David Bowie dying when he did , he had just brought out a new album and thought all was well . He and Pink Floyd were my childhood music .
Also Freddy Mercury, just feel so sad that such a talented and versatile man died too young when now people with aids live long happy lives .
People I have never met but feel so much sadness that they have gone .

I still mourn John Peel. His voice was the soundtrack to my adolescence.

Villanellesproudmum · 09/11/2018 16:20

Oh yes also Tara PT, not upset just saddened, met her a few times in my (our) younger days and she was actually a nice person just a bit Peter Pan.

craftymum01 · 09/11/2018 16:20

Victoria Wood. I burst into tears when I heard she had died, she was my idol growing up. I was 6 months pregnant at the time so clearly hormonal but even now I tear up a bit when I watch the old classics. So sad :(

lilybetsy · 09/11/2018 16:21

for sheer shock when I heard, Diana Princess on Wales; sadness, Alan Rickman, Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Terry Wogan

shearwater · 09/11/2018 16:22

Amy Winehouse.

Puffinhead · 09/11/2018 16:22

George Michael really affected me. Such talent.

StylishMummy · 09/11/2018 16:22

Steve Irwin

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/11/2018 16:22

David Bowie. He was my first music crush when he did Dancing in the Street with Mick Jagger

TeachesOfPeaches · 09/11/2018 16:22

Amy Winehouse. I still cry every year when the anniversary comes around. Ridiculous really when you consider I never even met her.

Furiosa · 09/11/2018 16:22

Peaches death was a shock. So was her mothers.

packofbaloobas · 09/11/2018 16:23

Jade Goody.such a young age to go and leaving her beautiful boys behind.

Robin Williams- I just feel so sad for him that he struggles for so long and lost his battle with his mental health

GetSomeGumption · 09/11/2018 16:23

Steve Irwin. I'd grown up watching him with my brother, doing funny impressions of him. We thought he was invincible. So sad leaving his young family like that.

PuppyMonkey · 09/11/2018 16:24

All of these make me sad but the one that still gets to me every week (when Bloody Steve Wright inevitably plays one of his songs) is dear Luther Vandross, with his amazing, anazing voice. Dance With My Father Again makes me need to go off and have a little cry in the loo every time. Sad

LovingLiving · 09/11/2018 16:24

I remember being very shocked and sad about Paula Yates.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 09/11/2018 16:25

Caroline aherne.liz smith

longestlurkerever · 09/11/2018 16:26

Political people too. John Smith, Mo Mowlam, Jo Cox. People who might have taken us somewhere else

Sisgal · 09/11/2018 16:26

Peaches geldof. She seemed so happy. Her poor kiddies

TeachesOfPeaches · 09/11/2018 16:26

Whitney Houston and her daughter both dying in the bath and Paula Yates and Peaches both dying from overdoses with their children at home. Find the coincidences quite chilling.

DarlingNikita · 09/11/2018 16:26

Terry Pratchett. Such a cruel way to go, for anyone of course but for him of all people.

I was shocked at how upset I was by Heath Ledger dying. Don't think I'd realised how much I liked him and/or how messed-up he was until he'd gone. I look at his few films and think 'such a talent.' His Joker in Batman –wow.

Also, years ago, River Phoenix. My first sleb 'love' and a beautiful beautiful man. I still feel sad about that.

HRTpatch · 09/11/2018 16:27

David Bowie

AfterSchoolWorry · 09/11/2018 16:27

Lemmy, very sad about that one.
Dolores O'Riordan, although I wasn't a fan of her music.

AdoraBell · 09/11/2018 16:27

George Micheal. That made me really sad.

Grauniad · 09/11/2018 16:28

Linda Smith
Victoria Wood
and yes, Alan Rickman

Spankyoumuchly · 09/11/2018 16:28

Robin Williams. I was struggling with depression at the time and he killed himself. I just couldn't bear the thought of someone who had made me laugh and seemed such a kind person and admitted their flaws could be so desperate was really hard for me.
Alan Rickman. I loved his acting. He always brought something original to his roles. I love the way he makes Snape sound like he was reciting poetry.

Spankyoumuchly · 09/11/2018 16:29

Yes to George Michael. He was such a kind person and talented and too young.
