I still struggle with David Bowie dying when he did , he had just brought out a new album and thought all was well . He and Pink Floyd were my childhood music .
Also Freddy Mercury, just feel so sad that such a talented and versatile man died too young when now people with aids live long happy lives .
People I have never met but feel so much sadness that they have gone .

Chester Bennington. Linkin Park were the soundtrack of my teenage years and Bleed it out is still my 'I'm really pissed off and need to get my anger out' song. It still really upsets me now tbh. His song writing was really brilliant and I think he really captured the feelings of depression. Such a shame he couldn't escape his own personal demons.

poppy196 · 09/11/2018 15:52

Definitely Terry Pratchett such a clever man and I work in same town that he has his shop so remember this very talented man daily when I go to work .
Robin Williams as well how can such a talented funny man take his own life ?
So very sad , loved him in Millennium Man .

Chester Bennington. I never understood until he took his own life how a celebrity death could have such a big impact on my life. His music helped me through my teenage years and once he took his own life it was if one of his songs was him saying goodbye. I cry when some of his music comes on 😔

Annandale · 09/11/2018 15:54

Years ago now but i cried when Eric Morecambe died. He looked exactly like my dad, and when i was growing up, he was in my sitting room more often than most of my relatives tbh. He had such huge charisma.

areyoubeingserviced · 09/11/2018 15:55

Princess Diana
Terry Wogan

ShreddShreddShredd · 09/11/2018 15:56

Paul Walker 😭

VillersBretonneux · 09/11/2018 15:57

Rik Mayall.

I can only put it down to thinking of him as a big brother figure as a kid/ young teen.

sureitsgrand · 09/11/2018 15:58

Caroline Aherne and Amy Winehouse. Was really gutted over both.

HalfBloodPrincess · 09/11/2018 15:58

I wasn’t a fan but Jade Goodys death hit me hard. We were the same age, our children were the same age, and I’d just got an abnormal smear result.
I still think about her now.

fourquenelles · 09/11/2018 15:59

I was taken by surprise at the emotional reaction I had when Rik Mayall died. I didn't know him so I think I was grieving more for my lost young adulthood than him iykwim. Never had that deep reaction before or since.

Sarahlou63 · 09/11/2018 15:59

Ayrton Senna. Cried buckets when I heard of his death ( in front of a group of strangers on a riding holiday) and found I couldn’t stop for several days afterwards.

MessyBun247 · 09/11/2018 16:00

Heath Ledger and Robin Williams. They both seemed like lovely people and it just felt so wrong that they weren’t here anymore Sad

Weezol · 09/11/2018 16:01

Benazir Bhutto. I cried buckets when she was murdered.

I still can't listen to the last Queen album without getting a lump in my throat.

Sue Townsend - I always intended to write to her about how much I valued her writing, then it was too late.

Charolais · 09/11/2018 16:02

The only famous person passing away I will be upset about will be the Queen.

Long Live the Queen. Wink

Samcro · 09/11/2018 16:02

Chester Bennington oh yes(see I forgot he had died) so tragic, he was so talented, the rev rom Avenged Sevenfold. he was only 28 . so sad.

ProfessionallyUnoffended · 09/11/2018 16:04

I surprised myself by how upset I felt when i heard that Dale Winton had died. He seemed like such a lovely kind man and at the time it appeared that he died alone as a result of suicide, which we now know was not the case Flowers

LadyFlumpalot · 09/11/2018 16:04

Terry Pratchett and Chester Bennington. I'm a massive Pratchett fan (can't bring myself to read the last book because then there will be No More.)

Chester Bennington because I just love Linkin Park.

ManonBlackbeak · 09/11/2018 16:04

The death of Dermot Morgan really upset me. I loved Father Ted, still do. He would be seen as a legend now if he'd lived. Who knows? Father Ted might even have returned one day.

Also was sad when Steve Irwin and Terry Wogan died.

ACatsNoHelpWithThat · 09/11/2018 16:05

Barry Chuckle. It felt like one of the few happy bits of my childhood had gone.

golddustwomen · 09/11/2018 16:05

Another one for Chester Bennington. I still feel sad when I think about it now. His music was my youth.

ScouseQueen · 09/11/2018 16:06

George Michael - so very, very sad at that time of year and relatively young

David Bowie - how he can have made the Lazarus video, knowing he had very little time left, I don't know. Extraordinary man

Freddie Mercury - massive shock, someone who seemed so full of life. Such a waste.

LadyFlumpalot · 09/11/2018 16:06

Oh god yes, Paul Walker. 😥

Pyjamaface · 09/11/2018 16:06

Chester Bennington. Linkin Park provided the soundtrack to the best and worst times of my life and I still struggle to listen to it now without crying. Mike Shinoda's album totally crumpled me.

Alan Rickman. He was my first proper crush

Ancienchateau · 09/11/2018 16:06

I always feel sad when I hear of people dying young - Amy Winehouse and Heath Ledger were two of them who were so talented but I was shocked by how sad I was when when Bowie died. Listening to and watching him helped me get through my awful childhood so not surprising really.

Feel sad thinking about it now.

ChipsAndKetchup · 09/11/2018 16:07

Dolores O'Riordan. Such a wonderful voice. Proper had me in bits. Every time I hear a Cranberries song it makes me cry again.

Amy Winehouse. Also a devastating shame. Such a talent.
