It was called Running Scared and it had Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush as the opening credit music. It was about a girl with red hair who's dad was a taxi driver and there was a bad guy played by Chris Ellison from the Bill. I googled it for years and never found anything but ironically I have found something on Wiki today, but even so, no one I know has ever seen it. Has anyone on here seen it? It scared thr heebie jeebies out of me when I was 9 (though it didn't stop me developing a crush on Chris Ellison when he was Burnside in the Bill Grin )

@PrivateParkin The Yvette Fielding one was called Seaview! I remember thinking it was excellent, but I've just Googled it and I could only have been six years old (max) when it was on.

Almondio · 07/11/2018 21:20

privateparkin the hotel was in Blackpool I think! Can't remember the show name but I remember the titles. I remember Moondial too, terrifying! The Christopher Eccleston one too, god this is taking me back (I'm 43)

Does anyone remember a kid's programme with a little boy and a tall bluish alien, no idea what the story was but it terrified me...it might even have been one of those programmes they used to put on at school, with the 60 second countdown clock...anyone else remember that?!

PrivateParkin · 07/11/2018 21:20

Seaview - yes that was it - thanks thehousethat!

Spudina · 07/11/2018 21:23

That was Chocky!! The blue alien. My most favourite programme. It's on DVD.

Spudina · 07/11/2018 21:24

Also Chocky's challenge? Or Chockys children were sequels maybe? Not so clear on the sequels.

DrCoconut · 07/11/2018 21:24

Almondio, the boy from space, another favourite of mine!

Spudina · 07/11/2018 21:25

There was also Alien in the Family. Alien was quite human like.

PrivateParkin · 07/11/2018 21:25

Amazing knowledge of 80s children's TV on this thread!!

DrCoconut · 07/11/2018 21:25

Who remembers children of the Dog Star? That's on YouTube.

Almondio · 07/11/2018 21:25

Spudina was it Chocky? I remember watching that too, but the alien in my head was from a different prog...my memory's shocking! I need to YouTube it Grin

notpushyinterested · 07/11/2018 21:25

Almondio...was it the boy from space?.

Almondio · 07/11/2018 21:27

Ah God yes DrCoconut The Boy from Space, that's it! Is it as terrifying as I remember? Silent looming tall blue alien and a little boy, about 9 or 10...what the heck was it all about?!

notpushyinterested · 07/11/2018 21:27

I loved chocky! And chock'ys children.

Break in the sun also brilliant.
I bought the book of chocky the other year. John Wyndham. Really good.

Almondio · 07/11/2018 21:28

notpushyinterested thanks for the nightmares Grin

Glasgowbound · 07/11/2018 21:28

My favourite creepy one, from earlier 80s though I think, was called The Owl Service. I feel a bit creeped out just typing that!

keiratwiceknightly · 07/11/2018 21:30

What about Captain Zepps Space Detectives - no one else remembered this but it was def a thing. Lots of kids with slicked back hair watching a video of a crime set in space and trying to solve. Terrible prog.

wibblywobblyfish · 07/11/2018 21:32

I remember The Cuckoo Sister, I loved it and my parents bought me the book.

Spudina · 07/11/2018 21:33

Anyone remember The Tripods? I have that on DVD too. I went through a phase...!

DaysofWineandNeurosis · 07/11/2018 21:36

Owl Service was amazing. It’s based on the book by Alan Garner which is also fab.

Does anyone remember Children of the Stones?

BitOfFun · 07/11/2018 21:39

OMG, Break In The Sun is on YouTube, brilliant!
