What time do children go trick or treating?

I need to know when to be semi scary. Grin

Hoping kids see us - it's not huge decorations and I think we're the only ones with a pumpkin in our street. Relying on passing trade. May have seriously over bought on sweets if not!

Our area it generally kicks off around 5 and is done 7.30.

AamdC · 31/10/2018 15:23

ParkheadParadise · 31/10/2018 15:24

Round here there's a general agreement to keep it to between 6 and 7pm. The pumpkin candle will be blown out after that!!

Fairenuff · 31/10/2018 15:33

You need to wait for people to get home from work. I wouldn't go much before 6 if you want to have much success.

Binglebong · 31/10/2018 15:37

Excellent! Thank you all. I'm trying to decide at what point I can decide no one else is coming and ignore the door and sadly force myself to prevent sweets being wasted.

I’m going to be out from 6, would it be acceptable to leave the pot of sweets on the doorstep next to the pumpkins?

TheGrassIsGreener3 · 31/10/2018 15:50

Any time between 5 and 8. Sometimes there will be a few a bit earlier or later.

iklboogiemanunderthebed · 31/10/2018 16:00

Usually between 5 and 8 here too. It probably peaks between 6 and 7. Most of the callers are little ones looking soooo cute!

lucysmam · 31/10/2018 16:09

Me and dd2 are heading out after tea, about 6pm ish, I think (need to wait for their dad so dd1 isn't in alone). She's decorated our garden and inside today & is currently made, and dressed, up ready to go Grin.

More joke practise needed I think while she waits!

lucysmam · 31/10/2018 16:10

@Runningishard round here the teens would grab handfuls & make off with them if we did that, so I suppose it depends what sort of area you're in.

Geraniumpink · 31/10/2018 16:16

About 5:30- 8ish is fine.

Binglebong · 31/10/2018 16:16

Is a two sweets limit ok? Thinks like fun sized milky ways, love hearts etc- not single gummy bears!

OP posts:
DonaldDucksTowel · 31/10/2018 16:19

As soon as it goes dark enough to light the pumpkins generally
Mine will go out at around 6/6:10 once DP gets home, it's generally all done for 7:30ish

MollyHuaCha · 31/10/2018 16:23

One fun sized bar is enough!

MollyHuaCha · 31/10/2018 16:24

And I always my offer my ghostly callers a choice of either sweets or fruit.

lucysmam · 31/10/2018 16:30

Molly do you get many takers for the fruit? I've just had a dinky one take a plastic spider and eyeball from my cauldron Grin

MollyHuaCha · 31/10/2018 16:32

Surprisingly yes! Last year I gave away around 30 chocolate bars and 10 satsumas.

FantasticHarryPotter · 31/10/2018 16:33

About 5.30-8 here.

Lots of pumpkins here including ours! A few doors down have a beware and skull and crossbones sign. Hope it's for Hallowe'en and they aren't a meth lab or something.

AamdC · 31/10/2018 16:33

Do many go thevfruit Molly?

AamdC · 31/10/2018 16:34

Ah cross post Grin

Runningishard · 31/10/2018 16:34

We mostly get little ones with parents but I’ve decided to pass the sweets and pumpkins to my neighbour for her to use. I’ll be in the pub! Wine

Talith · 31/10/2018 16:34

6 to 7 here generally. But it's half term this year not a school.night so wondering if it'll be longer. I'm switching off the fairy lights at 7 presuming the haribo haven't run out before then!

YourMilkshakeIsBetterThanMine · 31/10/2018 16:41

6pm til 7pm here, sometimes a little before. Lights out at 7pm sharp as I'll need to get my own DC ready for bed.

AamdC · 31/10/2018 16:42

We had half term last week so it is a school night , shame really as there are a few organised partoes i know of .
