What time do children go trick or treating?

I need to know when to be semi scary. Grin

Hoping kids see us - it's not huge decorations and I think we're the only ones with a pumpkin in our street. Relying on passing trade. May have seriously over bought on sweets if not!

DD9 went out around 6.30 & is only going for an hour but that’s because they have a 2 year old with them. I don’t answer the door after 8. We live on a busy road so nobody comes anyway. Last year we had one family all night!

Urbanbeetler · 31/10/2018 18:56

I’ve had none so far! Second Halloween in this house and last year I’m sure we had a load by now. However, I didn’t have time to do a pumpkin and just have a couple of candles in a flowerpot so maybe that’s why. ☹️

I've had the most kids ever this year, I'm giving away my birthday chocolates now I've run out of sweets 🙈

My first 6 callers took all the fruit!

I drew pumpkin faces in satsumas with biro Halloween Grin

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 31/10/2018 19:18

I’m going to do satsumas next year I love that idea.
Usually had loads by now but only had a few. We missed the little ones that usually come out about half 5 this year though because I was later home tonight.
I usually make bags and run out this year I never made bags and it’s much quieter tonight.
Next year I’ll make bags and run out again Hmm

We're in for the night. Dd2 is currently splitting her sweets with dd1 who still has sweets left in my cauldron Shock

Seemed very quiet tonight compared to other years, and not as many houses decorated for it :(

fourquenelles · 31/10/2018 19:24

Must have had about 60 children in an hour. There's a very large Polish community round here and they seem to be really into Halloween! Fabulous costumes (mums and dads as well) and all very well mannered apart from one little toddler who managed to grab a fistful before I could stop him. I was reduced to chocolate digestives and babybels in the end.

Next year I am going to need considerably more chocolate!

Soubriquet · 31/10/2018 19:25

My satsumas were the first things to disappear

Usually the younger ones wanted them over the sweets.

I like giving them an option

Strawberrybelly · 31/10/2018 19:43

Dd was very impressed with the Satsuma someone gave her, she loves them. Almost all our sweets are gone. I'm hoping no one else comes so I can eat the rest.

Soubriquet · 31/10/2018 19:46

I still have one full bowl left Sad

Guess the kids will enjoy them for the next 6 months

BlueCookieMonster · 31/10/2018 19:49

I’ve left my sweets on the doorstep. We’ve had three all night 🙄. I bought a bumper bucket as well.

foxessocks · 31/10/2018 20:07

My dd is 4 and ds 2 and we did a tiny bit of trick or treating between about 5.30 and 6.30, everyone was so lovely! I told them to only take one sweet per house, they would have been happy with fruit as they were just so excited about the whole thing!

Next year I'm definitely going to leave a bowl outside our house when we go out as lots of people seemed to do that round here. I wasn't sure as first year we've really done it properly!

MollyHuaCha · 31/10/2018 20:07

Hardly anyone has come this evening. Loads of fun size bars left.

Maybe word got round I was only handing out one each.

Glitterbubbles · 31/10/2018 22:24

We had about 60 kids from 5.30-6.30. Ran out of sweets, popped to Asda for more and then of course only had about 10 more after then so left with lots of sweets (not complaining!)

Binglebong · 31/10/2018 22:45

Would it be wrong to leave out all the lollies I don't like with a note saying help yourself?
