What time do children go trick or treating?

I need to know when to be semi scary.

Hoping kids see us - it's not huge decorations and I think we're the only ones with a pumpkin in our street. Relying on passing trade. May have seriously over bought on sweets if not!

Had my first one round about ten minutes ago. It's not even dark yet. I was just sorting the lighting of the pumpkins and saw them outside looking a little bit lost and waved them over. Wait until it's dark and you can see the houses to go to more easily.

Gorgeous little boy knocked the door as his big sister was too shy/scared. She soon ran forward to get a sweet when she saw them. They were so excited.

Amazingly enough, they all go. They go in the same bowl as the sweets so kids get a choice

I might give fruit a whirl next year! I like the oranges with faces idea

We always do pumpkin faces on satsumas ever since we ran out of sweets one year & the kids loved them!

We've just had our first trick or treaters. We're going out at 6.

Just had the first ones. I usually welcome them anytime from 5-8pm.

We don’t go out till 7 as no one gets home from work till around half 6.

Had 3 so far. So sweet! The first was too scared to take anything so her mum had to.

No one here yet, I thought I was all ready but have forgotten the satsumas

My son is going at 6 . He is patrolling the path though as we speak 🎃🎃👻👻👻

Just had our first lot, mine are going out about six.

We had our first callers at 4pm wasn't even dark! Have had about 40 since and will turn off the lights and lock up around 7 or whenever everything is gone . Rare to get a caller after 7 here.

We never get any

We live in the scary house in the village and even though we decorate the whole front garden nobody ever comes, kids think it’s hilarious

We had our first round at 5 and went out ourselves shortly after. My DS4 is now manning the door and DD18m is handing out the treats! It’s all fun isn’t it. Can’t bear the misery guts who call it “American” or “begging”.

We’ve just had our first trick or treater, I’m in Ireland.
I make up party bags to give out. Packet of snax/chickatees, fun size bar, lollipop, mini bag of jellies and some marshmallows. Way too much but I started it years ago and now I can’t stop🤣

My DC are going in a minute, they're just getting changed.

We’ve had none yet! They better get a move on as putting the kids to bed at 7 and we are eating the treats whilst we wait!

would it be acceptable to leave the pot of sweets on the doorstep next to the pumpkins?

I've done that. With a sign saying to take one. My trust in the local kids might be misguided...

I’ve had loads now, one little tiny was so excited he came right inside the house, I was relieved to see parents at the gate.

Stocks are getting a bit depleted by me. I've moved my pumpkin so it's more visible. Loving this!

Very polite kids round here - I'm used to people grabbing handfuls and one here was told off by parent for taking 2!

I have nothing left! Trusting them to take a couple from a bowl left out was obviously stupid of me. Just as all the little ones are starting to come round too. Ffs.

We’ve had a fair few. One just turned up and exclaimed incredulously “Someone just gave me an orange!”

We have had quite a few all sweets gone now, my first group of children nearly wiped me out so i found some mini oaty bars and bulked the bucket out a bit! Lol bit worried they were too healthy! One kid did put it back quick and get a sweet futher down bucket!

I’ve still got loads left!!

I haven’t even opened the two other bags yet.

Some kids are being so polite and only taking one. I have to keep getting them to take more
