So how long does a 250ml bottle of shower gel last you?

I admit a kind of TAAT, but some were saying that a 250ml bottle of shower gel would last them 3 months. I think this is way outside the norm. Probably lasts me a few weeks. What about you?

2/3 weeks I’d say. How little does someone use to make it last 3 months?!?!!!!

LunaMay · 25/10/2018 10:21

I think I probably buy one every second 'big shop' so one a month give or take. That's with me and a teen

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 25/10/2018 10:21

2/3 months? Shock

1 week for me. Blush

HollidayArmadillo · 25/10/2018 10:22

Probably about a fortnight
3 months is a long time - how little are people using?!

DeeplySleeping · 25/10/2018 10:23

Only me and DH use it it lasts about a week and a half

3out · 25/10/2018 10:23

Maybe lasts three weeks? (And I’m the only one who uses it. DH has the ‘man’ shower gel)

MrDonut · 25/10/2018 10:29

Well, shower gel doesn't last long in our house because the kids like to "cook" with it in the bath. I just buy the cheap stuff.

Those 500 ml bottles of Lush shampoo and conditioner last me ages though. Around 6 months, but I only wash my hair once a week.

simbobs · 25/10/2018 10:29

Sole user, could be 3 months - though I usually have more than one on the go. Shower every day but only use about £1 coin sized blob.

LunaMay · 25/10/2018 10:41

Are people using it with their hands or using a loofah? I use like a tiny bit but the loofah makes it go far.

abacucat · 25/10/2018 10:44

MrDonut shampoo is different as how often people wash their hair varies a lot. I wash my hair every day. But most people shower every day or at least every other day.

I could get through a bottle a week easily, just by myself.

abacucat · 25/10/2018 10:50

simbobs I don't know how you could get clean with such a small amount of shower gel.

If you’re using your shower gel every day, and it’s a 250ml bottle, and it’s lasting three months, then you’re using about 2.5ml a day (half a calpol syringe)

soulrider · 25/10/2018 10:51

How hard or soft your water is makes a huge difference. Need far less generally in soft water areas.

BarbaraofSevillle · 25/10/2018 10:53

I don't know how long a bottle lasts, few weeks probably, but I can't imagine what the people who go through a bottle a week are doing with it. Are you all drinking it?

BarbaraofSevillle · 25/10/2018 10:54

If you’re using your shower gel every day, and it’s a 250ml bottle, and it’s lasting three months, then you’re using about 2.5ml a day (half a calpol syringe)

Or more if not showering every day. I know that most of Mumsnet can't imagine not showering every day, but not everyone does.

cushioncovers · 25/10/2018 10:55

About a week

abacucat · 25/10/2018 10:55

Good point about hard or soft water. I live in a hard water area.

cushioncovers · 25/10/2018 10:57

Hard water area here. Two showers a day on the days I work. So 11 showers a week in total. One bottle a week for me.

Birdie69 · 25/10/2018 10:59

One little bottle - one week.

3out · 25/10/2018 11:14

That’s the thing isn’t it Barbara, it depends on how frequently you wash, whether you use a face cloth/hands/loofah/puff thingy etc, or maybe they use Enjo so don’t need any shower gel at all except when they fancy smelling of something scented. Too many variables :)

abacucat · 25/10/2018 11:19

I dont see any point in using a face cloth if you are using shower gel. You may as well use a bar of soap which is cheaper.

I'm not drinking it, but I do always wash myself twice so I guess that makes it disappear a lot quicker.

Pinkywoo · 25/10/2018 11:41

About a week here, hard water area, just me and dp using it but he's a plasterer so filthy when he gets home!

DiscoMoo · 25/10/2018 11:48

I shower twice a day, and my shower gels are 300ml and they last probably about 3 months? I only use a little per shower though as the brand I use is quite luxurious and a little goes a long way.
