I wish my hair could last longer between washes but It get's noticably greasy within a day, I struggle to go every other day

Once a fortnight/month... It never looks greasy or smells bad which has been confirmed by my partner and friends.

CaptainCallisto · 24/10/2018 12:24

When it was longer I washed it every two-three days, but it's in a pixie cut now and it needs doing every day.

I don't wash it if I'm not actually going out though - I don't care if the neighbours see me with a greasy mop while I'm hanging the washing out. It always looks and feels really minging by the end of the second day.

Pumpas have you tried any products without sodium laureth sulphate or similar - you generally have to seek them out as SLS is in almost all shampoos? As I undrestand it the idea is that that SLS strips the oils from your hair, making your scalp go into overdrive producing more oils to replace them, and leaving hair further from your scalp vulnerable to damage - which sounds like just the problem you're dealing with. It can make a real difference to curly hair.

Everyday.

I have really done, frizzy hair and if I leave it for any longer it looks like I've styled it with bacon grease!

MrsJayy · 24/10/2018 12:31

Twice a week usually i stopped using conditioner all over years ago so i need to wash my hair less.

spidey66 · 24/10/2018 12:33

Every day. Going out without washing my hair would feel like going out without cleaning my teeth.

BestZebbie · 24/10/2018 13:08

2-3 times a week. I work part time and it is always freshly washed when I go into work or if I am going somewhere else though.

CutesyUserName · 24/10/2018 13:11

From around 10 days to 3 weeks. My hair is very thick, never gets greasy and the style stays in place for the duration after I've curled it with my GHDs. It also doesn't get smelly as I don't seem to sweat a lot on my scalp. I would certainly wash it more if it did. My mum's hair was the same. It's something I'm very glad I inherited unlike the fat knees and elbows

GeneandFred · 24/10/2018 13:13

Every 4 to 5 days. Its long and thick so I can get away with it.

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 24/10/2018 13:13

Every other day. Dry shampoo the second day. I find dry shampoo works but you have to use Loadsa so give your hair a mega good brush through afterwards.

Wotrewelookinat · 24/10/2018 14:34

Every day. I have very short hair and it takes less than a minute to wash it in the shower.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/10/2018 14:38

@maerd I want your hair!

BitchQueen90 · 24/10/2018 14:50

Every other day. I have really fine hair so it needs it.

wrenika · 24/10/2018 18:15

I used to get away with once every 2-3 days but now that it's very short it seems to need washed every day. I'm terrible for running my hands through it which doesn't help.

thehousewifex · 24/10/2018 22:15

Everyday.

HolyQuacamole · 24/10/2018 22:16

Weekly 😭 I have two under two and a lot of dry shampoo

Cellardoor23 · 24/10/2018 22:22

Every other day. I have fine hair, but lots of it. I would wash my hair every day if I could be bothered. Plus the blow drying and straightening. It's just such a faff. I loath it, but I know it has to be done or it would look quite noticeably 'unkempt' My hair gets greasy, particularly at the roots, very quickly.

Dry shampoo has been my saviour in the past.

Cellardoor23 · 24/10/2018 22:25

Also meant to add, if I could leave it to dry naturally, I would. But my hair seems to be a nice hybrid of frizzy/curly and straight. Straight at the top and then does it's own thing as soon as it goes passed my ears Hmm

howrudeforme · 24/10/2018 22:26

Super thick dry and frizzy curly hair, every 2 days as I only comb through when wet. If I left my hair any longer I’d get locks.

I can only comb it when it’s wet.

AutumnGrace · 24/10/2018 22:33

Twice a week, Wednesday and Sunday!

Bouledeneige · 24/10/2018 22:35

Every 2 - 3 days, its long and takes ages to dry. And life is too short.

E20mom · 24/10/2018 22:39

Every other day. It looks best the day after it's washed.

JennyOnAPlate · 24/10/2018 22:44

Twice a week. I don't use shampoo though as I follow the curly girl method.

Ollivander84 · 24/10/2018 22:45

Every 3 days or so. I don't brush it or use shampoo, never gets greasy

clownstotheleft · 24/10/2018 22:56

Every 3-5 days. My routine is day 1 wash/blow dry, day two brush through, straighten if necessary, day 3-5 brush through and either dry shampoo to wear down or wear up in ponytail, plait or bun. If I'm planning on going out somewhere nice I'll wash as needed. I used to wash daily/every other day, but it's a hassle with long hair, so now I wash twice with either an sls free or solid shampoo and follow with conditioner - it gets my hair super clean (a little drying though) so it lasts longer. I also use a coarse brush to move oil down to the ends on days 3-5.
