If you have a fabric sofa, and it isn't grey...

...then what colour is it, please?

I've been staring and staring at sofas until my brain is scrambled and I've forgotten what normal living rooms look like.

Don't want leather or grey. Ivory walls and wood floors, a clean slate.

What is a normal sofa, please?

I have 2 huge sofas from sofa workshop , with washable covers....so have dusty rose for spring summer and fir green for autumn/ winter ( curtains have a mix of both colours)

Ours are also duck egg, a sort of peachy feel fabric. There are lots of throws on them so they are still reasonably clean, though the arms could do with a wash (must look at Housekeeping board for an idea how!)

@happinessischocolate, we also had a Nabru sofa before the current ones, as the angle of the living room doorway and staircase didn't allow sofas to be manoeuvred in. The Nabru modular system is very well made, the pieces slot together neatly and are very sturdy (although it did creak sometimes when a heavy person DH sat down, but there were no signs of wear and tear when we dismantled it. And we did that a couple of times because we moved house).

We got ours in a dark chocolate brown, which looked as good as new in the finish and no stains showed up at all. The covers came off easily for washing, though getting them back on again was one way of using calories... Grin

In the end I only changed it because I wanted the duck egg ones.

Golden/cream loose covers with loads of cushions, got two of them and love them.

Red corduroy, second hand and slightly faded...

missmouse101 · 22/10/2018 21:12

Dark red and gorgeous!

ScoopskiPotato · 22/10/2018 21:23

If anyone has a couch with throw cushions as a back rest is it any good? Ive seen a gorgeous navy and silver one. But my friend says the cushions are shit and she regrets buying it.

Bottle green for me.

There’s a floral Ikea Ektorp that I really want, it’s garish but I love it.

SoaringSwallow · 22/10/2018 21:27

Ikea sofa with cream Designer's Guild velvet. Check out Bemz- LOTS of fabrics and colours to choose for Ikea sofas and some chairs too.

SoaringSwallow · 22/10/2018 21:28

Had dark grey velvet before: dust magnet. Now cream and it's less visible (I assume it's still there!).

flamingofridays · 22/10/2018 21:30

Beige. Not as gross as they sound.

MoteOfDustInASunbeam · 22/10/2018 21:30

We’ve got one Scoopski. It’s good for lying/lounging on but not so much for sitting. It is versatile in that you can move the cushions around a lot to get comfy. We ended up getting extra cushions later on so we could overlap them more and also have a row of smaller cushions in front of the back ones. That solved it and is super comfy now.

Upsy1981 · 22/10/2018 21:46

When I had one with loose cushions, I hated it. The cushions went flat really quickly and not very supportive.

Andthentherewere5 · 22/10/2018 21:57

Chocolate brown. I have a 20 year old 5 seater sofa that cost about £2500 when I originally bought it so a replacement now would be well over £3000.
It was looking very tatty but was structurally still good. Just paid £700 to have the whole thing reupholstered. So pleased as it is as good as new! The cats are pleased as well as it has just the right shaped arms and back for all 3 to lounge on at the same time.

Aalaaya · 22/10/2018 22:01

Mink but I'd love a duck egg blue sofa

Fabpinky · 22/10/2018 22:05

Purple

MrBull · 22/10/2018 22:07

We have light grey but will be moving it into another part of the house next year so my next living room one will be a shade of blue, I think. Ikea have a nice (slightly muted) teal colour actually.

oigetoffmycheese · 22/10/2018 22:53

French navy. I love it

SignOnTheWindow · 23/10/2018 01:25

Pillar box red. It's slightly textured so has worn extremely well. It's probably filthy, but it doesn't show.

SignOnTheWindow · 23/10/2018 01:27

@Andthentherewere5 Ooh, that sounds good value for a complete re-upholstering. Was this anywhere in the South, by any chance?

Bluesheep8 · 23/10/2018 06:22

Ours are a minky/mushroom colour in very fine cord with slightly different tones. Think it's called Brisbane from scs. Love them.

Doobydoo · 23/10/2018 06:34

Mustardy yellow velvet for one and the other is medium bluey velvet...but they are velvetesque! So far been able to get marks out fine and we have hounds and hair vacuums out fine. Took me fekn ages to choose. I drove myself bonkers!

SandysMam · 23/10/2018 06:50

I hate the whole celebrity endorsement bullshit (as if they had anything to do with the design) but I can’t help but like the new Louise Redknapp range of sofa’s at Harvey’s. They are velvety jewel colours, really lovely.

fussychica · 23/10/2018 09:31

Cream with washable seat and back cushion covers. Love it but it is looking a bit tired after 12 years. Would probably replace with similar as I have several sets of scatter cushions in bold colours (gold, green, red, patterned) which revamps the room every couple of months.

TowerRingInferno · 23/10/2018 09:33

Red, Ikea Ektorp

It is cheery and (crucially) has removable machine washable covers

Frouby · 23/10/2018 09:36

I have Egyptian cotton walls, dark laminate floors and a rust/tan coloured sofa. I think it looks nice.
