If you have a fabric sofa, and it isn't grey...

...then what colour is it, please?

I've been staring and staring at sofas until my brain is scrambled and I've forgotten what normal living rooms look like.

Don't want leather or grey. Ivory walls and wood floors, a clean slate.

What is a normal sofa, please?

ours is modern, one chair striped, one settee flowered and another flowered.
They have red flowers with a sort of beige background.
The cushions match the settee, but are alternated.
We waited a long time to get it, I think it's the first new one ever Grin

GMtoBe · 22/10/2018 19:28

A deep burnt red. It's 4 years old and I still absolutely love it!

displacementofwater · 22/10/2018 19:31

Dark red. I have dogs though so didn't think that through properly. Confused

Oatmealy colour but with various threads in it so it isn’t too hideous at showing marks. Back when we bought in (about 2009?) all the choice was “shades of poo”. So glad there’s loads more colour now!

SilentBob · 22/10/2018 19:37

Kind of a petrol blue velvet. Not teal enough to be teal, not blue enough to be blue. I love them to look at and I like them-ish to sit on, but they're not as comfortable as our old was-Cream-when-we-bought-it jumbo cord number from a few years back.

FantailsFly · 22/10/2018 19:37

Aubergine. It works with lots of accent colours inc. lime green/chartreuse and red.

SuperstarDJ · 22/10/2018 19:42

anyone else with velvet sofas find that they are total dust magnets?

Yonijust · 22/10/2018 19:44

Bluntness100 About your mink sofa, what colour flooring & curtains do you have?

I am really struggling to make the room look cosy. I love my mink sofa, but I think the walls are too bright. The carpet is a similar mink & I bitterly regret choosing the carpet Confused

I had plain greige curtains but have just changed them again for a pattern.

Yonijust · 22/10/2018 19:47

SuperstarDJ Mine is covered in fingermarks from DD, as in actual finger shapes, not dirt. She must be brushing the pile the other way & really digging them in.

Have you had it dry cleaned? Mine are removable. Do you brush it?

DD has also spilt some drink on the side of it, that I have only just discovered Hmm

PlatypusPie · 22/10/2018 19:51

Red - my DHs idea, who isn’t normally good with colour, but it works really well in a small north facing room, with wooden floors and cream blinds.

Thebookswereherfriends · 22/10/2018 19:52

We have an air force blue sofa. Off white walls and some solid stone walls.

Foxen · 22/10/2018 19:53

Hmm lots of teal...interesting!

Plenty to think about :)

I have raspberry red, but if i were to buy one today I'd go for velvet teal.

Until I read this thread i didn't realise it was so popular!

YES

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 22/10/2018 20:06

Mocha chenille. 11 years old. Hides a multitude of sins!

Snipples · 22/10/2018 20:07

Ours are duck egg blue and I love them.

fleshmarketclose · 22/10/2018 20:08

Purple I think the shade is mulberry.

SagelyNodding · 22/10/2018 20:12

Navy blue here, and old and a bit grim... The next one is likely to be grey, but I would love a lush green colour or teal-it would mean redecorating the whole house

DMCWelshCakes · 22/10/2018 20:16

Teal

blibblibs · 22/10/2018 20:17

@happinessischocolate, the sofas came from a company called nabru, reasonably priced and really quick delivery.
First sofa took a few hours to build but second one was done in 30 mins.
I'll try and attach photos for you.

Claret, currently.

DH wants brown leather next but I had my heart set on emerald velvet (until I read the downsides upthread!). I don't like leather so the debate will continue...

viccat · 22/10/2018 20:23

Light blue here as well - not the most practical with three cats but I mainly cover it with a throw anyway...

MorningsEleven · 22/10/2018 20:23

Pink. I bought it 9 years ago when I was pregnant with DC2. It's done us well.

bellsbuss · 22/10/2018 20:24

Mink

whifflesqueak · 22/10/2018 20:33

I’m not at home but I wish I could take a photo of my hideous sofa. It might make you feel better.

It’s deep red. Corduroy. Ripped in places and so lumpy it’s a joke. It was second or third or fourth hand when we acquired it.

I’m buying a new one. My first ever. I am beyond excited. The one i’m pretty sure we’ll buy us a deep bottle green velvety (very short pile, more like moleskin?) thing.

I’d prefer a hole in the ground to my current sofa.
