Does anybody look good in their passport photo

I had to renew my passport, so I trotted off to the photo booth, I was feeling quite good about myself, I had taken care with my make up and my hair was behaving itself.

I look like I should be on a crimwatch line up!

I mean, I looked like a gargoyle , I had huge eye bags, and I certainly didn't have them when I looked in the mirror.

How has this happened? I now feel utterly miserable and now considering plastic surgeryBlush

I look like an 80 year old cold eyed killer on mine.

Petitepamplemousse · 20/10/2018 10:18

I have learned the secret if you use a photo booth is to wear an absolute shedload or make up! The lights wash anyone out terribly.

Kernowgal · 20/10/2018 10:27

My passport photo is fine, but my most recent season ticket photo is fucking awful. The booth must have been lit from above, so I look all jowly and haggard. It's dreadful. I remember the days of non-digital photo booths and how lovely they made everyone look. Sigh.

GoopWrithing · 20/10/2018 10:40

Mine is okay, too. I look about as nice as it's possible for me to look! It was taken by a photographer, though, not in a booth (foreign passport, different specifications), and he clearly did a good job for £5!

Miggeldy · 20/10/2018 10:43

Mine is OK. My drivers licence is dreadful though and I only renewed it last year Haloween Sad

DH looks like the Boston Strangler, but dodgier. I look like one of those Victorian photos where they propped up the corpse for one last photo.

Oldraver · 20/10/2018 11:24

I've had photo booth photos done three times for my driving license, all of them Crimewatch-esque

I'm sticking with a paper one

greencatbluecat · 20/10/2018 13:10

I look like I have just been released into the community!

amusedbush · 20/10/2018 13:16

I look like a Russian hitman in mine. Terrible.

I have the bastard thing until 2027, as well.

BlancheM · 20/10/2018 13:18

I clicked onto this thread hoping the answer would be a resounding 'no'...thank god. I was worried I might be chronically deluded. I like how I look, can leave the house feeling reasonably confident. In my passport photo however, I look as if my face fell off and I've hastily thrown it back on with only seconds to go before the flash.

minniebow · 20/10/2018 13:20

The black and white makes me look like I’ve been on a 3 month bender with the strongest drugs you could find! I want to re-do it desperately but it’s not worth the cost. I’ve never understood the no make up as I don’t look like my passport photo in every day life. When I get ID’d they always stand there for ages looking back and forth to make sure it’s me

PackingSoap · 20/10/2018 13:21

It's a running joke in our family that DH strongly resembles an infamous terrorist in his passport photo. When he first had it done, I was actually rather bothered about how it might affect him going through border control.

Then baby Dd had hers done at 10 months old. Despite everything I did, she looks like a junior member of Baader Meinhoff.

Resembling terrorists is obviously a problem in our family. Sad

I looked bloody gorgeous in my last one...lovely long blonde tresses, flawless skin. Slim. I was just about to get married so was looking smokin'

Renewed it last year. I look like a flabby potato with hair. Shocking.

ManorMouse · 20/10/2018 13:49

No, I look like a potato

So you're the person who got their photo taken for my work badge and not me? Cheek!

An old travel saver card I have makes me look like Carlos the Jackal - all swarthy, with plenty of stubble and a battered leather jacket.

My current passport photo has me looking like I'm nursing a bad hangover despite being teetotal for years. My previous passport photo was me with a 1980's-tastic mullet hairdo and enormous lens spectacles.

I and the the DCs have another nationality and before the "no smiling" rule I had two successive passport photos taken that looked sooo good as you had to have them professionally taken.
Then I lost my passport in an African country and the photo processor had his chemicals set to "show up features on dark skin" which translates as "make white people look like ghosts".
After that, it's all been downhill. Even the DCs who are young enough to be allowed to smile look deeply traumatised. DH only has a BrItish passport and both that and his work ID have a great "cat on head" look.

I look like no 1 on the FBI's Most Wanted list.
