WTF do I do now? Hairdressers

Okay, so I arrived at the salon and it was closed. Hairdresser was 15 mins late for my app. I've never been here before so had no idea what to expect. I'm sat in what feels like an old office chair in front of a bejewelled mirror (homemade?) with foils in my hair. Apparently there is a £5 surcharge for my length (not outlined on the voucher). So far my layers have been cut in and when I say they are choppy...I mean...very obvious and drastic. I'm hoping she is going to revisit this after my foils are off....I'm terrified of the colour!

What do I do? What's if it's awful? I've literally never complained about a haircut before, although I have had many bad ones. Usually I just wear it up and grab a box dye if it's really bad but I want to woman up! I call upon the power of MN, help me?

This chair is killing my back!

I normally have colour first then.cut. Otherwise they are washing your hair twice

Can you google to find any reviews of the place? I know it’s too late to stop you going there (if bad) but may reassure you it generally good. How long until the foils come off?

It seems strange that she has cut it before foils?? So did she put the foils on wet hair or did she dry it?

Biancadelriosback · 12/10/2018 10:21

She chopped all the ends off (I've had about 4 inches off) and chopped in the layers then foils. No washing yet, that'll be after I assume. She didn't give me a time but Christ my back is killing me! The backrest comes up to below bra level so no support. If I lean back it feels like it will tip.

I'm actually terrified!

Eek. Have you picked up a groupon or special offer or something?

costacoffeecup · 12/10/2018 10:25

That sounds odd! 🤞

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/10/2018 10:25

Oh...have you got an image of what you're aiming for?

costacoffeecup · 12/10/2018 10:25

We will need a photo of the outcome you realise. But I hope it's nice.

Biancadelriosback · 12/10/2018 10:29

One of my foils just fell out

Stand up and have a walk around to ease your back. Is there a 'waiting area' with more comfortable looking chairs that you can sit on for the moment?

My hairdresser has got used to me having a wander around and sitting elsewhere for a while!

Biancadelriosback · 12/10/2018 10:30

Yes sorry, Groupon

OP posts:
Hideandgo · 12/10/2018 10:30

Groupon? I had a similar experience with getting my hair done and I complained to Groupon who gave me my money back and banned that hairdresser.

Biancadelriosback · 12/10/2018 10:30

Argh, I just tried to upload my hair-goal photo but I don't think it worked??

OP posts:
Twickerhun · 12/10/2018 10:32

Oh dear lord you need to talk to the hairdresser about the plan. Ask if the layers will be finished..

BobLemon · 12/10/2018 10:32

Nope, didn’t work

BobLemon · 12/10/2018 10:33

Did she discuss with you what you were going for? Did she sound confident, or like she was on a right bender last night?

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 12/10/2018 10:35

Oh dear. This doesn’t sound promising. Fingers crossed for you.

redexpat · 12/10/2018 10:35

You can say:
I'm not happy with that.
What are my options.
I dont agree.

WeeDangerousSpike · 12/10/2018 10:35

I know less than nothing about hairdressing, but is it possible (genuine question for the more knowledgeable!) that if you are having a complete restyle she has 'roughed it out' so she can place the foils and then will do the proper cut afterwards?

Or is that not ever a thing?

It might still be OK OP - fingers crossed.

Brownboots · 12/10/2018 10:35

Uh oh. Groupon haircuts are bad news in my experience. Sorry OP!

PlateOfBiscuits · 12/10/2018 10:35

Take a photo of the chair/mirror set up for us.

Is it just you and her there?

Heismyopendoor · 12/10/2018 10:36

Hope it turns out well for you!

Biancadelriosback · 12/10/2018 10:37

Yeah we chatted about what I wanted. I had really bad split ends so I said that I wasn't too precious if she had to take off more (originally 2inches) because I knew it was in bad condition but then she got scissor happy...it's her business so she's obviously got plenty of experience so I'm hoping for a happy outcome...I just need some balls incase

Im a hairdresser and in general a salon or person who has to resort to vouchers like this is a bit desperate. Word or mouth or offers via the company itself are better.

It’s a bit cheap to most Hairdressers
