I'm at that horrible age where most of my peer group are getting married or engaged... fed up of being asked about online dating Hmm

First met at 13-ish, started dating at 17, married at 29 (6 months after proposal - I wasn't waiting any longer!)

Kool4katz · 07/10/2018 17:30

Met aged 36 and had a DC at 43. Had 2 long term relationships beforehand but no kids.

AnotherPidgey · 07/10/2018 18:37

Met as friends in a social club/ hobby at 19/ "nearly 30". Got together about a year later at 20/ 30. Married at 28/38 and two DCs in the next few years.

A lot of friends coupled up through that group. Some have survived long term like us. Others split after several years of marriage or LTRs. After several years being single, most of them have found new, promising stable relationships in their mid to late 30s.

Admittedly I haven't had much experience at being single, but until I met DH, I didn't have much interest in dating. I had one brief dabble before then got together with DH. I found doing a hobby where you spend days and weekends away over a shared interest to be effective at getting to know people and developing bonds, and we weren't the only ones in the group to find that!

I went to a lot of weddings in my late 20s, but there's been plenty (including second weddings) through my 30s too.

First went out with him the day before my 24th birthday, he was 25, nearly 26. Married three years later, had 49 years together.

Katedotness1963 · 07/10/2018 23:04

Met him when I was 19. Married at 21. Coming up on our 34th Anniversary.

Chasingsquirrels · 07/10/2018 23:08

H1: 18, on 1st day at uni, together 17 years, married nearly 10.

DH2: 28, although was happily married to H1 at the time. DH2 interviewed me and I worked for him for 11 years before we got together a couple of years after H1 left. Together 6 years, married just until 1 (he died).

Current P: 45, been together 5 months.

  1. I met him online. All my siblings, including the younger ones, were in stable and long term relationships with children and everything. I was kind of feeling like I was on the shelf and that I wouldn't ever meet anyone special as I'd been single for years and in a few shit relationships before that. I met my now dh in 2008, we moved in together in 2010, had dc1 a year later, dc2 a year after that and got married a couple of years after that.
PipGoesPop · 07/10/2018 23:48

  1. I'm 45 now.
Groovee · 08/10/2018 06:03

19

TheCakeDiet · 08/10/2018 08:54

Me 20, him 19. Were together for 12 years before we got married.

I'm amazed by how many 'young' teenage romances on thus thread endured.

Camomila · 08/10/2018 09:24

20 and got married at 26.
Most friends seem to have met their spouses quite young, either at university or in their mid 20s.

I don't know if my relationship would be one of these (we were 17 & 18). But among my fellow mid-30s friends we're not that unusual for having met that young. In fact all but one of my peers who are divorced (or separated from a long term living together relationship) were married to people they met in their 20s or 30s.

Catren · 08/10/2018 12:41

Met when we were 22, together at 23, married at 29.

RavenLG · 08/10/2018 12:49

I was 25 he was 26. We're 31 and 32 now and getting married in 2020. No dc.

SockQueen · 08/10/2018 13:26

Met and got together at 22. Married at 27.

tass1960 · 08/10/2018 13:32

Both 17 when met, married at 19 - first baby at 29 now 58 and the time has flown in - it’s hard to believe we are at this stage ...

TheCakeDiet · 08/10/2018 14:07

By 'young teens', I mean the people that met when they were 13/14/15 - there are quite a few on here - to me that's quite surprising.

MaisyMary77 · 08/10/2018 14:11
  1. Have been together for 25 years now. Smile
Gin0clock · 08/10/2018 14:37

24 & 28, married at 26 & 30, still together 24 years later.
