How fucking scary were dinosaurs?!

Tonight I read my three year old a lift the flap type book she got from the library about dinosaurs. I don’t know very much about dinosaurs and I have been educated!

One has a head the size of a small car! One has teeth as long as a child’s arm! Another has a sail on its back as tall as an adult human.

And crocodiles were around when dinosaurs were! And they just fanny about in America. Just haunting lakes and being fucking terrifying. Imagine dinosaurs still existed! And they just cut about, being massive with their teeth and their tales. Eating people.

Ffs.

Although my sister in law told me last time she was drunk that she doesn’t believe in dinosaurs. Is that a thing?!

😂

SnuggyBuggy · 05/10/2018 20:19

I always imagine the logistics of coexisting with them. Like having to phone work and say you aren't coming in because one has sat on your car and crushed it.

Passmethecrisps · 05/10/2018 20:19

Well scary!

There was a whole thread on here a while ago and dinosaur denial. It was extremely funny. Apparently the posters were genuine.

Maybe you should read “that’s not my kitten” before bed in case you have nightmares

GrinGrinGrin

You’re right. They were bloody terrifying.

Your sister though ...

64BooLane · 05/10/2018 20:21

Sorry - your SIL.

Maybe it is a thing. Is she also a “flat earth” believer?

WhackyBirds · 05/10/2018 20:21

I loved Jurassic Park with a passion when it came out. I tried to block out the rest of the cinema and imagine I was there BlushGrin

SnuggyBuggy · 05/10/2018 20:21

I've heard it argued that God put dinosaur bones in the ground to test our faith.

eggofmantumbi · 05/10/2018 20:21

I need to find the dinosaur denial thread.
I find elephant seals freaky. They have to be from aeons ago. Weirdly huge

goforkyourself · 05/10/2018 20:21

Lol with the fannying about in America!

NerrSnerr · 05/10/2018 20:26

I used to work with a man who genuinely believed that scientists planted fossils to disprove evolution.

Passmethecrisps · 05/10/2018 20:28

It might have gone into classics.

LittleMissFrumpy · 05/10/2018 20:30

I think I need to find this thread

I have the same thought process regularly about living with dinosaurs. It's somewhere between Cbeebies Andy's dinosaur adventures and the Apocalypse...

WooYa · 05/10/2018 20:33

I had this thought (accidentally out loud) at Blackpool Zoo last week... they're fucking massive and scary!!

Dandybelle · 05/10/2018 20:33

My SIL thought dinosaurs were still real in some parts of the world.

I sort of went, 'what, like alligators/crocodiles/Komodo dragons...?'

And she went 'no, like velociraptors. They live in like, South America right?'

Um, no hen.

SnuggyBuggy · 05/10/2018 20:36

I grew up near some MOD land and was convinced dinosaurs lived there and that's why the general public weren't allowed. I thought the fence would protect us though.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 05/10/2018 20:36

Velociraptors weren't scary in real life though. More like tiny, irritable chickens.

solittletime · 05/10/2018 20:37

But humans and dinosaurs never co existed?? I have that as a hard fact from Ross in "Friends"

sprinkleofsunshine · 05/10/2018 20:37

I love anything to do with dinosaurs fascinating. Find it amazing that crocodiles are still here and are from around the same time.

elQuintoConyo · 05/10/2018 20:39

JWs believe fossils were planted by god to test us.

Velociraptors were actually the size of Chickens, not as big as depicted in Jurassic Park.

I don't remember if diplodocuses or brontesauruses had two brains: one in their gead and ine in their tail as they were so long. Or maybe i'm mis-remembering... Or it was a joke my older sibling told me.

Off to google. Yay! Dinogoogle.

donquixotedelamancha · 05/10/2018 20:41

Imagine dinosaurs still existed! And they just cut about, being massive with their teeth and their tales.

They were indeed famously good storytellers.

Dinosaurs do exist now, they are just smaller and more feathery.

LemonRedwood · 05/10/2018 20:46

Velociraptors were actually the size of Chickens, not as big as depicted in Jurassic Park.

Fortunately, the Utahraptor was discovered just before Jurassic Park was released and so they got away with the size change.

(Went to see Jurassic Park in concert at the Albert Hall last weekend and IMDBed all the Trivia in preparation Grin)

elQuintoConyo · 05/10/2018 20:48

Armi · 05/10/2018 20:51

I’m terrified of dinosaurs. There’s no fucking reasoning with them. They are too fucking big and entitled.

I’m glad they’re dead.
