I’m probably going to get reported a 100x for saying this, but I’m saying it anyway.

I really like Ed Sheeran - & especially Galway Girl.

There. I’ve said it.

o go away

yawning801 · 30/09/2018 11:58

I like the backing track of Perfect, but that's about it.

surferjet · 30/09/2018 11:59

He is actually very talented. I don’t understand why people don’t like him?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 30/09/2018 12:02

Does anyone else expect after he says
I whispered underneath my breath
You heard it
You...
That the next word will be bitch rather than "look perfect"?

FlibbertyGiblets · 30/09/2018 12:03

Intervention! I'm coming round with ABBA Gold RIGHT NOW.

scaredofthecity · 30/09/2018 12:03

He's a victim of his success.

There's no doubt he's talented but he's also very overrated and everywhere you bloody look, there's no getting away from him!

SpoonBlender · 30/09/2018 12:05

He's a nice lad but his music tends towards blandness. And his fanbase... ugh. I'm all for just letting other people enjoy things, but:

Saw him at a festival a few years back, biiiiig tent and he said "Wow, this is the biggest crowd I've ever played for" - the response was a high pitched shriek from every 12 year old girl making up the whole 8000+ crowd that nearly deafened me. He set off into a song and the entire crowd sang the music and words, loudly and badly and three octaved higher than him. Couldn't hear him at all. Left.

surferjet · 30/09/2018 12:06

This is the thing with music snobs, they think popular = rubbish.
Music is frivolous entertainment.

SpoonBlender · 30/09/2018 12:08

Red card! Bad assumptions, Surferjet. I mean, look at Flibberty's ABBA intervention. I believe they have occasionally had some popularity.

surferjet · 30/09/2018 12:09

ABBA are probably one of the best bands ever. Agreed.

BestestBrownies · 30/09/2018 12:18

Apparently he's working on a collaboration with Eminem.

ashtrayheart · 30/09/2018 12:20

Until recently my eldest daughter thought it was 'hallway girl' and was singing along accordingly.

OldShuck · 30/09/2018 12:20

He's a lovely bloke, but his music is bland, bland, bland IMO.

PristineCondition · 30/09/2018 12:20

As long as tyou don’t start liking George Ezra

That’s beige slacks and Cardi territory

vampirethriller · 30/09/2018 12:22

Can't stand Ed Sheeran, and I used to like Aqua.

trulybadlydeeply · 30/09/2018 12:23

Reported PristineCondition

How you think you can get away with making statements like that on a public forum, I don't know.

surferjet · 30/09/2018 12:24

See I like George Ezra too - especially Cassi O

OP posts:
YerAuntFanny · 30/09/2018 12:25

I'm undecided.

I like his more upbeat stuff, can't stand the slushy crap, and I like that he's honest about some of his music not being to his taste but he knows where the money lies (i.e. that awful wedding dance one that I can't remember the name of?).

I think there are far worse "artists" out there. Like bloody Adele.

YerAuntFanny · 30/09/2018 12:26

Love, love, love everything by George Ezra though!

LydiaLunch7 · 30/09/2018 12:26

Reported.

SequinsOnEverything · 30/09/2018 12:27

I like him! I think he's very talented.

I think abba are one of the worst bands ever. I can't stand them.

trulybadlydeeply · 30/09/2018 12:29

YerAuntFanny agreed. I don't understand the popularity of Adele, or "whingy old Adele" as I like to call her. Great voice, and can't deny she's talented, but can't bear the songs, particularly all the "to my old boyfriend" songs.

Ironfloor269 · 30/09/2018 12:30

I'll never forget how much I laughed when I read a pp saying that he looks like the 'village idiot'!!

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 30/09/2018 12:30

I really like his early stuff - the one about the girl on drugs (She's in the Class A team ... can't remember the proper title right now!) and Lego House etc they seemed quite authentic but the recent stuff ... meh! Especially that bloody wedding song. So bad, so blatantly done for the dosh.

I did like Andrea Bocelli showing him how to actually sing effortlessly rather than straining over every note though, he schooled Ed's ass on that version. Class.

JinnyGreenTeeth · 30/09/2018 12:30

His mauling of 'The Parting Glass' makes me want to run him over in a tank. Even though it's not quite as bad as Sting's version of 'Mo Ghile Mear', which should be tried at the International War Crimes Tribunal for crimes against music and humanity.
