I’m probably going to get reported a 100x for saying this, but I’m saying it anyway.

I really like Ed Sheeran - & especially Galway Girl.

There. I’ve said it.

OP posts:
NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 30/09/2018 12:31

Love love love Ed Sheeran.

2doubles · 30/09/2018 12:31

I love a bit of Ed Sheeran...but I HATE Galway Girl.

Supermarket Flowers never fails to make me weepBlush.

RightOnTheEdge · 30/09/2018 12:32

I love Ed Sheeran and George Ezra but I really dont like Cassie O or Galway girl.

MaudebeGonne · 30/09/2018 12:32

Galway Girl irritates me as there was already a perfectly good song called Galway Girl, which I am assuming he must have heard of. Why not give it a different name “Eyre Square Quare (one)”, or ”Spanish Arch Matriarch”.

As for him, he’s alright. I can sing along on the radio, and they are fairly catchy tunes. I wouldn’t pay money to hear him though.

IloveJudgeJudy · 30/09/2018 12:32

I also like Ed Sheehan. I think he's talented. I like the fact that he can just pick up his guitar and play his songs on his own. I also don't know why some critics think that popular = rubbish. Some of the classical composers were very popular in their day. Would those critics say their music was rubbish?

I do admit to hating ABBA and their music first time round. We all thought it was our parents' music!

RyderWhiteSwan · 30/09/2018 12:33

Reported. I don't browse MN for repulsive OP's like this. Have you no shame surferjet?

ElspethFlashman · 30/09/2018 12:34

When he starts to do his talky rappy bits..... The cringe of it, omg.

RustyBear · 30/09/2018 12:35

I can honestly say I’ve never knowingly listened to Ed Sheeran (even my iPad tries to autocorrect him to Sheehan), though I may have heard him in a shop somewhere. (Or George Ezra either, come to that, despite my age group probably putting me in what Pristine refers to as ‘beige slacks and cardi territory.)
But he seems to come up all the time on my FB, so I can only assume either I’ve got lots of friends who like him, or he’s got an incredible digital marketing team.

witherwings · 30/09/2018 12:41

Oh dear, no hope for me then as I love Ed Sheeran and George Ezra and Adele.

lifechangesforever · 30/09/2018 12:42

Ohhh I thought I was the only person who hates Ed Sheeran and doesn't see any talent.. this thread has returned my faith in humanity.

QuantumGroan · 30/09/2018 12:47

He's had his day now he needs to go away and leave us alone - Galway girl makes my ears bleed.

BonnieF · 30/09/2018 12:48

Sheehan is a superb live performer. Entertaining Wembley stadium on your own for 2 hours with an acoustic guitar and a loop pedal takes talent. There’s nowhere to hide.

Galway girl is a shocker of a song, though, which should never have been on the album.

dustarr73 · 30/09/2018 12:48

Galway Girl reminds me of "Top the mornin to ya"Just bollix.

Like Tom Cruises accent in Far and Away.Utter shite.

I do like George Ezra though

Frogletmamma · 30/09/2018 12:55

I like Ed Sheeran, Rag and bone man and Sam Smith. And George Ezra. Do you know there are whole radio stations out there just for people like me.

Rooberoobe · 30/09/2018 13:02

I prefer his older stuff but find most of it easy listening. Although not a fan of Galway Girl and many others that have been overplayed.

However to say he’s talentless is unfair. He plays every part of every track using a gutar and loop pedal no backing tracks just him. That takes a talent and being confident in your craft as you’re left with nothing to hide behind.

OliviaStabler · 30/09/2018 13:03

I gave up long ago worrying about people think about my tastes. Lovely feeling isn't it OP Grin

bringbacksideburns · 30/09/2018 13:04

I love him.

I don't get music snobbery. Who cares? You like what you like.

I also love Paul McCartney. Hes been rubbished and ridiculed in recent years because he made the mistake of daring to get old.

But I still love him.

Petalflowers · 30/09/2018 13:04

I really enjoy Ed Sheeran as well.

itwillbealrightpromise · 30/09/2018 13:08

ashtrayheart that is brilliant. Maybe Hallway Girl will become Corridor Woman?

RibbonAurora · 30/09/2018 13:11

Frogletmamma and you're welcome to them, I genuinely have no problem if some people want to have their ears blanded into somnolence.

My issue is when they stealth-position these auditory oatmeal suppliers on the tuning dial right between my favorite music stations and I get an unwanted earful of beige mush which then evolves into an earworm that plagues me for days.

yorkshireyummymummy · 30/09/2018 13:12

Oh God I can’t bear him or his bland music.
Since he plagiarises quite decent music you would think his stuff would be good - but no.
He has a talent for making decent music sound crap I’ll give you that.

spamm · 30/09/2018 13:13

Was at an Ed Sheeran stadium concert this week in Philadelphia, and loved it. I took my Mom (73, but a very young 73), and we had a blast. Enjoyed the other acts, Anne Marie who I did not know at all, and Snow Patrol, who were bloody good. But Ed's show was impressive - 2 hours on stage by himself, entertaining an enormous crowd with the loop system and different guitars. I don't like Galway Girl, and the teeny screamers were annoying. But the show was fab. And I thought his on stage banter was excellent - he kept the crowd engaged and entertained throughout.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 30/09/2018 13:14

I love Ed Sheeran but some of his songs make me cry. Perfect was playing on the radio when she was dying in hospital and we had Supermarket Flowers at her funeral.

Theorbo · 30/09/2018 13:23

You like what you like surferjet. Be out and proud in your Ed love.

EastMidsGPs · 30/09/2018 13:25

Ed Sheeran .. was impressive live when supporting Snow Patrol. Not really a fan tho.
George Ezra, someone on here linked to his video to Listen To The Man, which I love for Sir Ian's twinklingliness
