The only thing I've ever won was a train set when I was in my 20's.

I once won £250 in Spa vouchers in a Netmums competition. I had a lovely night away.

EastMidsGPs · 26/09/2018 18:09

oh and a signed Icicle Works album .. cannot remember where that came from

BigStripeyBastard · 26/09/2018 18:10

I once had a mate who raved about internet bingo. I wasnt convinced but I gave it a whirl in the name of of social experimentation. Put in £10, got a free £10 to play with and had a go. Decided it was shit and completely unthrilling, blew my last £8 on several tickets in one game and went and fed the cat, leaving it to play it's self. Came back to find I had wone £3000! Had to wager a certain amount before it would let me cash it out but ended up in profit by about £2600! Never played since 😂

Those competition things where you text in to Chris Evans on Radio 2 breakfast and the next day you could win 'Best Seats In The House' tickets to see a Live in Concert gig that day in London....next morning I blearily woke up on my day off to the phone ringing..... Chris Evans gave me two tickets to see A-Ha that very day (my favouritest group EVER!!!)

I also won a teddy bear by coming first at a disco dancing competition at the local fete when I was five! I feel that may have been nepotism though as the man running the competition was our next door neighbours eldest son...... probably shouldn't count that.

Puppywithattitude · 26/09/2018 18:11

Oh I should add I'm not gorgeous or anything in case anyone thinks I'm doing a Samantha Brick.
It was obviously for something technical and artsy, but it makes me feel good in my minging middle aged years Grin

BigStripeyBastard · 26/09/2018 18:11

LOVING the five shilling postal order that went towards a tortoise.... 😍

gladiatorgirl · 26/09/2018 18:23

I won a shopping bag just like Roy Croppers. I'm sooo lucky!!

RebeccaCloud9 · 26/09/2018 18:23

A few years ago I had a real flurry on Twitter and fb comps. I was winning something every week for ages! Usually only smallish prizes - skin care, make up etc but lovely to get! Cinema voucher that I used to see Jurassic Park in Imax which was soo good! And just today I won breakfast for 2.

MamaOfTwoBoys · 26/09/2018 18:23

I won a week in Tenerife from the McDonald's monopoly game. It was 12 years ago, the day after my 18th birthday.

Never won more than a free McFlurry on it since, but I won't complain Grin

I used to enter every competition on a magazine website. I won the same prize three times from Mother and Baby magazine. A hamper of Hipp baby food with a Orange cuddly elephant.Grin I kept the first and gave the next ones away. Other wins from the website were antkiller, johdpurs, skiing equipment, pet insurance, a gardeners world coffee hotcup, tickets to the Chelsea flower show (couldn't give them away) clay pigeon shooting day out (was literally a blast) and £150 Pets at home voucher. I gave that to my neighbour who fosters police dog puppies. She was over the moon with it.

My tips are to answer any survey you see in a magazine. From when I used to fill in the form that came with the mag or now follow the link on the website I've won money (£100 twice £50 twice) makeup mac make over and getting to keep all the products used during the makeover. It made a great Christmas present for my makeup obsessed sister.
I enter every competition on Facebook or Instagram. Won a shaving kit for dh and some fancy sunglasses courtesy of Birchbox.

My cousin is a member of a website that charges £13 a year. But it's worth it as they track down all the little known comps with a tie breaker being the question. Just make it cheerful cheesy and namecheck the company. She recently went to the Netherlands on a half board paid trip thanks to Seacat or P&O. She offered to take me but I have no passport.

BearSoFair · 29/09/2018 15:42

Tickets to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers from an XFM text in years ago!

amusedbush · 29/09/2018 16:05

A drawing contest and a poetry contest in primary school, and then a couple of years ago I won a handbag through a competition on a blog.

user1483390742 · 29/09/2018 16:09

A Pogues 12" record from Smash Hits in the 90s!

pointythings · 29/09/2018 16:11

Yes - a bottle of Bollinger in a raffle from a posh off license in Cambridge, first prize in the lord of the Rings contest in our local park, third prize in an astronomy competition recently, a mattress (via product testing) from Mumsnet and also the odd fencing competition when I was young and fit.

I know someone who won a ticket to a tiny Kasabian gig for 50 people. It was on a converted old airplane. It included drinks fancy snacks and a Q&A with the band. Ooh and lots of signed stuff. Plus a driver taking you to and from the relevant train station. Sounds fab right? Except that she set up a separate email address for entering competions and found out she had won on the day it was happening. There were several panicky emails to her from the runners of the competition and even a friend request on Facebook from the PA which she ignored. She had given her mobile number but didn't answer as it came up unknown. Apparently when she managed to get hold of the woman she told her it was too late and the tickets passed on to other team members as a perk. How I laughed. It was my aunt this happened to and she's a self involved drama queen. I got the feeling that the woman on the phone was glad she lost after catching on what a twat my aunt is. Grin

PhilomenaButterfly · 29/09/2018 16:20

A Queen CD.

Sarahlou63 · 29/09/2018 16:23

I won (separately) two holidays and €6,000 in the '90's, all from radio competitions.

SallyOMalley · 29/09/2018 16:31

I won a signed book of poetry by Roger McGough when I was nine. It was a poetry competition in one of those free mags you pick up at the till in supermarkets.

Oh, and a huge hamper of Christmas goodies at the school nativity one year. It was fun getting that home on my bike!

Caroian · 29/09/2018 17:19

I won the Caboodle hidden books competition last year (I know it's popular on MN!) Prize was £250 in book token - which I'm still spending. I think I have around £50 left.

deste · 29/09/2018 18:48

A weekend away in Amsterdam.

sheepysheep · 29/09/2018 19:03

My brother won a piglet at a local fete when we were little - the joys of rural living!

Penguinsetpandas · 29/09/2018 19:09

I've won £25 or £50 on premium bonds a few times, only have £14 worth of them. I won a Tiswas T-shirt for an art competition, a mug from local radio, nothing much but don't tend to enter either.

Penguinsetpandas · 29/09/2018 19:11

I did also win a magnum of champagne when very bored at work and I entered the efinancialnews guess which investments will rise most over the next week competition. Only entered the once.

PyongyangKipperbang · 29/09/2018 19:14

I won a car 2 years ago! A brand new Fiat 500 which I owned for the grand total of half and hour because I drove it from the pick up point (which included getting my photo taken next to the car with a bow on it), to a dealer where I traded it for a 7 seater :)

PyongyangKipperbang · 29/09/2018 19:15

Oh and 10 years ago I won my evening wedding reception in a radio competition. As it turned out we couldnt use the prize to gave it to the next couple in the competition.
