I'm in love with my dishwasher (reluctantly purchased) what other gadgets can I get that will be similarly amazing??

I have recently purchased a (second hand) dishwasher. I've resisted getting one for years. I was adamant that I didn't need one, there were only four of us, I'd rather have a cupboard etc etc. A few years down the line from the breakup of my marriage I am now living with dp (and my two DD's). I noticed old (to me) annoyances beginning to crop up around housework so I figured let's see-not really thinking it would help.
I love the bloody thing. It's saves time, the kitchen looks better, the dishes look beautiful and sparkly (it also turns out I've been living like a grimmer for years with unclean pots that I've hand washed to nowhere near the standard of the dishwasher). There have been fewer squabbles re whose washing up etc.
I also secretly quite like the gentle wooshing noise it makes when it's on (perhaps its primeval and reminds me of being in the womb Grin)
What other things can I get that will have a similar effect? Are tumble dryers worth the dollars? Will a Roomba similarly improve my relationship?

I was one of the toaster eyer uppers. OJ's s two boiled eggs for breakfast every morning. It would be a right winner for me.
My friend has lent me her steam
Mop to try before I buy one. I'm going to have a go on it this afternoon. I might be a bit overexcited!!

I’ve always said I will know I’ve made it in life when I have a house with a driveway and a dishwasher. I’m very envious OP, congratulations!

I do have a condenser dryer which is brilliant for people who rent. Don’t need to worry about have a pipe sticking out of a window somewhere and no damp getting into the house. And the loser in me loves seeing how much water collects in the tank just from one load of washing!

FireCrotch · 22/09/2018 15:24

Here's a tip not hack for those with a condenser dryer who also iron. Use the water from your condenser dryer in your iron. Tada!

I ate beans for a month when my dishwasher died.I would never be without one.

Same as my drier, but if the weather is nice i line dry.

PoshPenny · 22/09/2018 15:33

Love my tumble drier (in the shed) and my soup maker. 20 minutes and it's done. Need to get more into using the slow cooker. Would love to go back to having a dishwasher but would mean a major revamp of our kitchen which is why it's not happened. One day hopefully fairly soon!

Roomba
Roomba mop (Braava)

Airfryer
Air purifier

I love my dishwasher and dryer.

I particularly love my big American style fridge freezer. I’ve had it three years now and I still love it. I had an under the counter fridge before....awful. I bit the bullet and bought this massive fridge freezer which I didn’t even put in the kitchen for the first 18 months or so as no room (since had kitchen done). It’s amazing, it’s never full, you can fit 2l bottles of coke in the door, stand up bottles of wine and milk/juice on the shelves. It’s huge and I love it!

GooodMythicalMorning · 22/09/2018 16:37

Ive had 3 dishwashers but the kids keep killing them so I've given up and am going back to washing up. Too expensive tp be replaced all the time. I don't know how the kid's did it!

Upsy1981 · 22/09/2018 17:06

I miss my big American fridge freezer. Had one in old house but wouldn't go in kitchen here. Sob.

Loonoon · 22/09/2018 17:40

Love my Eufy/Roomba robovacs, my house has never been so clean. I also love a stick blender.

Can’t be doing with slow cookers or juicers, I have bought them or been given them in the past and ended up giving them away.

MakeYourOwnFuckingTea · 22/09/2018 17:54

Agree about juicer. I won one and was so ok excited to use it. My neighbour had the exact one so showed me what it did juiced stuff. It used a huge amount of vegetables and fruit for a relatively small amount of juice. Though it was delicious I don't think I could have afforded the produce needed. Rather bulk out meals and desserts. I gave it to my cousin who loves it.

MumUnderTheMoon · 22/09/2018 18:02

If you don't want to go the whole hog on a tumble dryer I have a jml upright dryer from Argos it's frickin spectacular. I also recently bought a one cup kettle in the Sainsburys sale. My daughter wants to make her own tea but she has additional needs and can't lift the kettle she just puts her cup under the spout pushes the button and gets one cups worth of boiling water in about a minute. Plus she's very proud of herself which is lovely.

GooodMythicalMorning · 22/09/2018 18:16

Yeah my juicer took ages to clean.got fed up sorting the mess it made.

Nacreous · 23/09/2018 11:15

Fire You can also use it to dilute the washer fluid concentrate for your car and it’s great for washing windows if you have the space to store it - rinsing with distilled water should mean there’s no need to squeegee them down.

FireCrotch · 23/09/2018 15:46

Cheers Nacreous. Will do that. I do like finding ways of reusing perfectly good stuff. Not quite the same thing but my neighbour gets her menfolk (her words) to Piss on her compost heap once a week. She does have a beautiful garden and huge veggie patch. Grin

Hoozz · 23/09/2018 16:10

My stick blender is still in regular use 22 years after I bought it when weaning DC.
Best gadget this year is my sodastream. I bought it to cut down on plastic and love it. I have fizzy water on tap and use it mixed with fruit juices or for spritzers. You can make it much fuzzier than bought fizzy water as well.
Goes off to Google rhumbas

Autumn2018 · 23/09/2018 17:02

@Hoozz

How often do you have to replace the gas, and do you find it more costly overall?

ComeOnGordon · 23/09/2018 17:11

A salad spinner!! We eat salad a lot and it kept going soggy but not anymore.

(I also love my dishwasher too!)

Hoozz · 23/09/2018 20:23

Autumn2018 I didn't buy it to save money but to save plastic. I used to buy a 6 pack of 500 ml bottles of sparkling water about every other week so maybe £100 a year? Bought the soda stream in January and I'm on the 4th gas bottle, though we probably used a lot more because of the hot summer. Probably costs about £90 a year so not much in it.

KatharinaRosalie · 23/09/2018 20:33

Roomba and Braava. Roomba is set to go every day after the dog walker has been, but before we get home. It's amazing, the amount of dust and hair it collects every single day. Braava unfortunately is not programmable, but it is quiet, so I put it on when we get home, and if silently potters around, scrubbing the floor.
