Anyone still here who joined in 2006 or earlier?

Just ... hello really.

I consider myself a bit of an oldie but there might be people still here who were posting from the very start (circa 2000/01 ish?).

I sometimes wonder what it would be like to go back 10-12 years on Mumsnet. Would it look significantly different? I remember lots of scandals about the changing of the appearance of the site. I guess there would be fewer adverts, sliders and pop-ups?

Woud we still have lots of threads headed like this
MamaGwhereareyou**

Hot topics of conversation might be baby modelling and the MMR. I can't honestly remember.

What do you recall about the early days of MN if you were here then?

I remember you and your tablet prettybird. I had some at that Christmas meetup Grin.

And, yes, of course Zombie deserves a mention Flowers.

Dd was born in early 2001 and I joined soon after she was born. It was so quiet in the early days. You could check for new threads/posts in the afternoon after being on in the morning and there would be 3 or 4new ones to read. Justine and Carrie used to post a lot iirc, just on normal threads.

And yes I still read up the page. Could never get used to going down even though I do on every other website.

I remember Cod, Riven, Greensleeves, FrannyandZooey.

A580Hojas · 20/09/2018 12:34

Yep, moldies was Twiglett and Littlelapin's brainchild.

I've been here since 2004, always this name. I remember riven, crying my eyes out at work about misdee's husband, cod etc

iMum · 20/09/2018 12:37

Been here forever!

blackheartsgirl · 20/09/2018 12:46

Ive been here since 2004..had lots of name changes

Dont think id be here now of it wasnt for mumsnet

Mummylin · 20/09/2018 12:47

2006 for me. I remember getting an email from Stgeorge to say misdees dh ,s transplant was going ahead. I was on an ongoing thread which lots of people moaned about. I used to be on the word game also along with Samcro ( in her old name ) Tn0g , Talcy, and lots of others. We would nearly get through a thread in a couple of days as we all chatted so much.

TheOriginalNomDePlume · 20/09/2018 12:50

Ah yes, littlelapin. Appeared from nowhere and took over the board. Then relentlessly spammed with that book thing, you know the Avon for books mummy business thing, name escapes me.

CakeUpWall · 20/09/2018 12:51

I think I joined in 2000 - you used to be able to see on your profile when you became a member, but I can't find it now. My reg no is 1183 anyway, I can see that much.

I managed to swerve the whole moldies debacle; I was otherwise engaged with family stuff anyway. I find I have more time to peruse MN now I'm officially old, but do struggle to find threads which are engaging/ enlightening/ entertaining these days. Sad

StealthPolarBear · 20/09/2018 12:53

Usborne?

SoleBizzz · 20/09/2018 12:55

2006 here. I was SoleSource

TheOriginalNomDePlume · 20/09/2018 12:55

Possibly, yes, stealth.

StealthPolarBear · 20/09/2018 12:56

Does anyone remember StrandedPolarBear, my almost name twin?

SoleBizzz · 20/09/2018 13:04

I remember the Stranded poster

prettybird · 20/09/2018 13:05

At least - someone who remembers me or at least my tablet Wink

I've checked back and it looks like I started posting in August 2001 - which means I probably joined a few months before that before I summoned up enough courage to actually post Grin

prettybird · 20/09/2018 13:06

That should read "At last " Blush

NKFell · 20/09/2018 13:10

I was a little later, serial lurker in 2008. I genuinely looked for advice at that time and it was a great place to not feel alone with my worries- with my first DC I worried so much, all the time. I’m now onto DC number 4 so I’m well into winging it these days.

Point is, I remember it being a much kinder place. Less biscuits.

Kenworthington · 20/09/2018 13:16

Yes I joined in 2006 when ds2 was just three and diagnosed with hfa. It was recommended to me by his paediatric nurse who evaluated him. I never posted much at the start about it (and after a couple years they ‘took away’ his dx anyway). Got stuck in to all the threads then never left. I think I prob spent a long long time lurking. I had many different user names though so wouldn’t be recognisable as an ‘oldie’

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 20/09/2018 13:27

I've been here since 2002 or 2003 I can't remember exactly, but a long time.
Reading this is making me remember the old names Morningpaper, Aitch, Cod etc

I mainly posted on behaviour there weren't that many.

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 20/09/2018 13:29

And Twiglett!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 20/09/2018 13:32

I remember StrandedBear, with her surprise baby at university, that somebody said wasn't quite s much of a surprise as she made out? Then some sort of combined ban/flounce.

I think I remember you posting the reason for your name Stealth, did you have a big white fluffy dressing gown and leap out on you DH or something? Not a stalker, promise!

We haven't had a "What's for dinner?" thread for a while have we? They used to be daily.

ImperfectTents · 20/09/2018 13:36

Was here in 2004, I remember lovely threads about which brushed cotton nighties to buy for our dd's. We would probably be stoned for our elitist ways now.

Littlechocola · 20/09/2018 13:38

I loved looking for the unanswered threads and bumping/creating random threads to get others off the page.

Piffpaffpoff · 20/09/2018 13:42

I’ve been here since 2006 but under a few different names. I joined just as the SWMNBN (aka Gina Ford) thing kicked off.

Back then it was much much more baby focused I think. Loads of threads about green poo, fore milk and hind milk, and a few about other things. It’s totally the opposite now - lots of ‘life in general’ stuff now.

Electrascoffee · 20/09/2018 13:47

Completely agree with NomDePlume about Dittany.
