Taking a break from work...how cool is 'Kashuo Ishiguro' especially with 'Sir' Prefix Grin

Always thought 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel' was quite something. Almost as if there will be no room big enough to fit his entire persona. Why hasn't this name ever appeared in the baby names section, they're always looking for something unique Wink

What other names do you know that just make you sit back and think WOW! (in a good way not in a 'Chardonaye' kind of way ifyswim).

When I was little I had a massive obsession with pole vaulters. There were two that were always battling it out for gold. There names were something like Sergei Bubka and Quincy Watts. I adored them and this thread has brought back some great memories.
We had chicken in my youth too and my favourite was called Gregory Peck. I thought I was hilarious coming up with that!

I always liked Biddy Baxter (editor/producer of Blue Peter, IIRC).

Johan Sebastian Strauss.

Strauss is a fantastic word to say: Strauss Strauss Strauss Grin

margaritasbythesea · 20/09/2018 07:32

My mum once had a student called Billie Midnight Blue. He could use William if he wanted, but he wore Billie Midnight well. I have never forgotten it.

SLoisachtal · 20/09/2018 07:41

There's a business journalist/reporter on the BBC called Julia Caesar - I guess her parents decided to name her that as they hoped she was destined for great things!

Mrsemcgregor · 20/09/2018 07:45

The nurse who did my dcs vaccinations, Sister Elizabeth Bennet. She didn’t disappoint.

beanaseireann · 20/09/2018 07:46

BloodyBridget
Your ancestor now has a street named after him in Dublin ( rightly so as his design helped Dublin port to develop). It's in the 'new' area near the Grand Canal theatre and Marker Hotel.
Blood Stoney Road. Smile
I kid you not.

Cara Delevingne - it just sounds so glamorous and I always say it with an overly exaggerated Italian accent.

Nina Nannar always has to be said in a Smash advert alien voice.

I met an older lady once called Tuppence Tempest which I thought was AMAZING.

TheFogsGettingThicker · 20/09/2018 08:02

Agree with F1 drivers... Emerson Fittipaldi, so lovely to say over and over

And also Giancarlo Fisichella, who I found so hawt Blush

And who could overlook PG Wodehouse, who revelled in the handle of
Pelham Grenville.. I remember in one of the Bertie Wooster books, Bertie saying "There's some rough work pulled at the font," regarding some startling Christian name he had discovered a friend had, and did wonder if his own had vexed or delighted him...

HemlockStarglimmer · 20/09/2018 08:04

I met a woman years ago who had the fabulous name Comfort Golightly.

CormoranStrike · 20/09/2018 08:08

Atticus Finch - amazing name.

Elephantinacravat · 20/09/2018 08:09

They also did it with "Barack Obama", now there's another fabulous name!

Ah, the Barack Obama song on the Chris Moyles show! I used to practise it whilst driving to work until I got it right and can still do it now! I miss those days....... Chris himself wasn't that funny on his own but when they were all together as a team it was fucking hilarious!

I remember Toby Lerone as well.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 20/09/2018 08:11

There are so fabulous names on this thread!

One that sprung to my mind straight away was the comedy character Philomena Cunk.

I work in a school with a lot of international students and there are some amazing names, it never ceases to amaze me. (Obviously I can't put them on here though)

IndigoSpritz · 20/09/2018 08:14

I know a chap called Tom Majors. It's not exactly a cool name but it would suit him if he was an actor.

I always call George Alagiah 'George Alligator'.

Telegraph culture section journalist - Tristram Fane Saunders

PinkAvocado · 20/09/2018 08:24

Bob Flowerdew (Radio 4 Gardeners’ QT regular).

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 20/09/2018 08:38

Bob Flowerdew and his Co panelist Pippa Greenwood HAD to become gardeners with those names

MadamesNet · 20/09/2018 08:50

Ooh! Just remembered an aristo, quite mind boggling actually,
‘Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe ‘ Confused. I’d Knick the ‘Jacobi’ for a new baby but leave the rest.

This thread is amazing. Especially for pregnant ladies like me! Added two names to my list already!

Jean-Claude Camille François Van Varenberg, also known as Jean-Claude Van Damme - I'm not that brave...

MadamesNet · 20/09/2018 09:06

@Tamiah - 👍👍🌟Glad to know at least one person is going to make use of these fabulous names.
