What car do you have and how far would you get on £60 petrol?

Car is getting old (2006 Golf 1.4) but recently it seems to do SO few miles. Costs £60 to fill the tank, that does around 350 miles. Only lasts me about 10 days... Is that a normal amount? I feel like I need a more economical car!

Looking at getting a Skoda Fabia or Toyota Auris next year.

Ouch! I have a little Toyota Aygo, it’s about £35 to fill the tank and that lasts ages. I’d say the £35 does at least 350 miles!

So id recommend a Toyota!

I have a diesel Audi A6 and £60 of fuel gets me about 600 miles. It was about 800 miles when fuel was cheaper.

Fatted · 18/09/2018 20:53

How many liters are you getting for £60.

Usually costs me £50 to fill my Civic. It's a 2.2 diesel and I get about £500 miles from that.

I have a Peugeot 807 and it costs me £100 to fill (diesel) at lasts 2 months and 600 Miles ish.

WhenIWasAYoungWarthog · 18/09/2018 20:53

I have a Prius that costs about £40 to fill up and does about 400 miles. So I guess about 600 miles for £60? That’s driving on motorways though, I think it probably uses more if I’m driving slowly. I should really pay more attention to this sort of thing.

NannyR · 18/09/2018 20:53

Skoda citigo - costs about £38 to fill the tank, I get about 320-330 miles commuting in heavy traffic, up to 360 miles if I do a lot of motorway driving.

WingingWonder · 18/09/2018 20:54

Bmw 3 series efficient dynamics diesel about 700 Miles

Soontobe60 · 18/09/2018 20:57

I also have an Aygo. I get around 200 miles per £20. It is only 4 seater, so if there's 5 in the family it's no good. Also, when my OH I see in it with me it uses up more petrol and is slower uphill 😂😂

shapeshifter88 · 18/09/2018 20:57

hyundai tucson and about 550 miles

OublietteBravo · 18/09/2018 20:58

I’ve got a Seat Ibiza. It costs about £40 to fill the tank. I get just over 400 miles per tank - usually 430ish (commuting - no motorways, a combination of urban streets and A roads).

Scotinoz · 18/09/2018 21:00

Diesel Volvo wagon, and £60 doesn't fill the tank but gets about 500-600ish miles (depending on whether it's around town on motorway).

In contrast, husband ridiculous car is £80 to fill and gets about 300 miles at best 😫

greendale17 · 18/09/2018 21:01

Micra- I would go 600 miles on £65

SueDunome · 18/09/2018 21:02

Another Aygo driver here. Very cheap to run, road tax is £20, comprehensive insurance £100. I agree with the pp about going up hill though; in the summer I need to switch the aircon off to get up some of the hills around here Grin

mejon · 18/09/2018 21:02

Hyundai i20 1.4 diesel. Cost me just under £60 to fill it up last week. My fancy gauge tells me I should get 650 miles out of the tank this time. It's sometimes more (was 690 recently) sometimes less. I mainly do at least 40 miles a day on rural roads.

Shockers · 18/09/2018 21:05

VW UP! It costs about £40 to fill and I get 55-65 mpg, depending on traffic.

TomHardysNextWife · 18/09/2018 21:08

Petrol Mini Cooper S. Costs around £45 to fill and averages around 38 mpg which I'm more than happy with for the performance.

MirandaWest · 18/09/2018 21:09

I’ve got a 2005 Ford C-Max Would probably get about 600 miles out of £60 of diesel I think (although tank is smaller than that)

DickTERFin · 18/09/2018 21:11

12 year old Toyota Corolla - £60 would be about 550-600 miles.

WhenDoISleep · 18/09/2018 21:15

08 VW Touran diesel - £60 gets me approx. 3/4 of a tank (45ish litres). Depending on the type of driving (town or distance) that is about 450 -550 miles - I went to my DPs over the summer, a 600 mile round trip and used just over 3/4 of a tank.

incogKNEEto · 18/09/2018 21:16

Old (2001) Diesel Ford Galaxy 1.9tdi and £60 would get me 450-500 miles.

theboxofdelights · 18/09/2018 21:17

V90, 550 miles.

A580Hojas · 18/09/2018 21:18

I have literally no idea! Is this a thing people know about their cars? Can't you Google it op?

Toddlerteaplease · 18/09/2018 21:24

Hyundai I10. I can do 300 miles on a full tank. So I could probably do about 600 miles on £60

PavlovaFaith · 18/09/2018 21:26

Kia Sorento 2.2 litre, around 400 miles. I get 550 miles on a tank of about £80.

burblife · 18/09/2018 21:26

57 reg golf diesel. £60 per tank. Does 580ish miles. Have you had the car serviced recently?
