Best ever GIN!

PavlovaFaith · 17/09/2018 21:25

Okay so I love gin.

LOVE IT.

But I'm fairly new to loving gin... probably the last couple of years.

I'm in search of something gorgeous that I can ask the DH to buy for birthday/Christmas.

Basically like a "signature scent", I'm in search of my signature gin.

What are your best ever suggestions please? AND bonus points for whichever garnish works best with it. I had a King of Soho with grapefruit the other night Grin delicious!

Grumpbum123 · 17/09/2018 21:31

Brockmams with bluberries and grapefruit slices

Purplefrogshoes · 17/09/2018 21:32

Hendricks with fever tree tonic is my favourite

I love gin. I loved gin before it was fashionable to love gin. I’ve tried 100s of gins but I always come back to Bombay Saphire, loads of ice and lime. I just don’t think you can beat it.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 17/09/2018 21:34

Chapel Down Gin with Double Dutch tonic.

Asterado · 17/09/2018 21:34

Oh I forgot the fever tree tonic!

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 17/09/2018 21:35

Silent Pool with elderflower tonic

JustHereForThePooStories · 17/09/2018 21:36

Gin Mare with Thomas Henry cherry tonic, garnished with lime, and fresh mint.

OnceUponATimeInAmerica · 17/09/2018 21:37

Download the Ginventory app. It will guide you on what garnish works best with different gins.

borlottibeans · 17/09/2018 21:39

The Botanist. And Fentimans tonic, with everything.

Botanicbaby · 17/09/2018 21:40

There’s no way I could recommend a particular one as each gin has different botanicals so you may prefer a more floral, dry or spicier gin.

To find your ‘signature’ gin, I’d recommend asking your DH for a subscription to Craft Gin Club then you can try them yourself to find it Smile

BifsWif · 17/09/2018 21:42

Monkey 47, Alkkemist and Silent Pool are my favourites.

I second either Craft Gin Club, or a selection of miniatures/night at a gin bar to work out what you like.

Tappers Spring Fever. If you can find it...

MissMarplesKnitting · 17/09/2018 21:51

Masons tea edition. Wasn't expecting to like it, but it's beautiful.

Figgygal · 17/09/2018 21:51

Bombay sapphire is an old classic but current favourite is brockmans

tempuser · 17/09/2018 21:51

Hepple Gin. With a plain tonic

timeforgin1 · 17/09/2018 21:52

Brooklyn, the Botanist and Silent Pool are my top 3 (with Fever Tree!)

PavlovaFaith · 17/09/2018 21:53

@OnceUponATimeInAmerica wow a gin app! Bear with...

@Botanicbaby a club of gin! Where do I sign?

Ungava, lots of crushed ice and a simple tonic.

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 17/09/2018 21:54

Silent pool, tonic and an orange peel twirl Grin

pinkcarpet · 17/09/2018 21:55

Caorunn or my latest fav Hills & Harbour. Or my homemade sloe gin (Aldi gin and sloes from my garden) but that’s all mine Grin

whiteroseredrose · 17/09/2018 21:55

At the moment my favorite is Gin Mare with Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic. Close runner is Gunpowder Irish Gin with Full Fat Fever Tree. Both are relatively dry.

For a sweeter one Slingsby is lovely.
