Best ever GIN!

Okay so I love gin.

LOVE IT.

But I'm fairly new to loving gin... probably the last couple of years.

I'm in search of something gorgeous that I can ask the DH to buy for birthday/Christmas.

Basically like a "signature scent", I'm in search of my signature gin.

What are your best ever suggestions please? AND bonus points for whichever garnish works best with it. I had a King of Soho with grapefruit the other night Grin delicious!

Should say.... I love this statement 😂

WhitefriarsDillyDuck · 17/09/2018 23:49

I have at least 30 gins- some are vile.
This is the best

amazing gin with a hint of the sea, you can get extra flavouring drops but it doesn't need it.

GinandGingerBeer · 17/09/2018 23:57

Ooh! I've met my people Grin
Hmmm. So many gins to choose.....
Monkey 47
Gin Mare (with rosemary)
Whitely Neil rhubarb and ginger (with fresh raspberries)
Tankerey Seville de Flor (with slices of fresh orange)
Hendricks with cucumber
Warner's Edwards rhubarb with ginger beer

The most disappointing thing for me re Gin is that the only diet mixer you can usually buy in a bar is slimline tonic. I have type 1 diabetes so need to drink diet drinks and it sucks!

The Gin Bothy Gunshot Gin with ginger ale and a slice of orange.

Isle of Harris. Really dry and mineral tasting. Delicious.

The bottles are absolutely gorgeous and you can buy gin tumblers and martini glasses that are made from the same glass. So beautiful.

Costacoffeeplease · 18/09/2018 00:29

Monkey 47
Tarquins
Sharish

cucumbergin · 18/09/2018 00:43

I love Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla ( Fevertree Mediterranean tonic & slice of orange) but it is super orangey so if you're not a big fan of very fruity tasting gins that might be a drawback. It's not over sweet though. It's summer in a glass.

Also a fan of the M&S lavender colour changing gin.

That Isle of Harris gin sounds gorgeous - don't suppose you've tried this? www.damhile.co.uk/shop/seaweed

Botanist with 1724 tonic.

teawamutu · 18/09/2018 07:25

Opihr for me too. Really aromatic, you can taste the cardamom. With fevertree aromatic tonic and lime.

Oblomov18 · 18/09/2018 08:59

Takes notes. Most of the tonics I find too sweet and prefer something very very dry and crisp.

PavlovaFaith · 18/09/2018 15:56

Thanks so much for all these, a lifetime worth to try! I agree with a PP about not wanting a tonic to take away the flavour of the gin.

Lots of votes for Harris gin and I'll tot up some other popular ones and start there I think!

The bottle alone is stunning!

Buy a conversion kit and a Harris Tweed shade and you’ve got a lamp!

SpoonBlender · 18/09/2018 16:04

Too many, and it's mood dependent. Get on the gin club trail, and get DP or a close friend or two in for evening samplings.

www.littleginbox.com/ for two tasters a delivery
www.craftginclub.co.uk/join/ for a full size bottle

PavlovaFaith · 18/09/2018 16:08

@SpoonBlender that mini gin subscription is perfect!!

If you like crisp and clear

Try Sir Robin of Locksley gin

And Martin Millers with strawberries and black pepper with Mediterranean tonic

Kezzie200 · 18/09/2018 16:26

Curio Fly Navy

blitzen · 18/09/2018 18:44

I second Brockmans.

Durham Gin is also 😲

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/09/2018 18:50

Deaths Door or Adnams First Rate.

Or you could visit the Distillery in Portobello Road, and blend your own recipe, and reorder that - a true signature gin!

iklboo · 18/09/2018 18:51

My homemade sherbet lemon gin, obviously Grin

17CherryTreeLane · 18/09/2018 18:56

My 3 favourites are:

Silent Pool
The Botanist
Tanquery 10

Sorry - need one more! Warner Edwards Rhubarb gin.

iklboo · 18/09/2018 18:56

But yes to Craft Gin Club, or look for a Gin Society Festival near you HERE which are great nights out (especially the free samples).

CormoranStrike · 18/09/2018 18:58

I’ve only ever tried one gin I liked - Jawbox Gin with ginger ale and lime and lots of crushed ice.

MaggieMcGill · 18/09/2018 19:00

Another vote for Harris gin, it's lovely.

YolandiFuckinVisser · 18/09/2018 19:36

Lone Wolf gin with fevertree mediterranean tonic. Expensive but amazing
