Best ever GIN!

Okay so I love gin.

LOVE IT.

But I'm fairly new to loving gin... probably the last couple of years.

I'm in search of something gorgeous that I can ask the DH to buy for birthday/Christmas.

Basically like a "signature scent", I'm in search of my signature gin.

What are your best ever suggestions please? AND bonus points for whichever garnish works best with it. I had a King of Soho with grapefruit the other night Grin delicious!

Whatever is on sale, currently have tanqeuray, with damsons and a little sugar in a mason jar for 3 months. It's a dirty pleasure, tastes of plums!

goose1964 · 17/09/2018 21:57

DDiL loves Victoria gin, from Aldi or Lidl

Verbena87 · 17/09/2018 21:58

I like Liverpool gin with orange rind and mint leaves.

Ophir with coriander, fresh ginger and sliced red chilli.

And this tiny-batch gorgeousness - the rose geranium is especially show-stopping www.westwardfarm.co.uk/

We did this for my MIL - she's a huge gin fan and collects bottles. Instead of getting a "best" gin, we got her one from a little family producer in a small town in Italy where she loves to go on holiday. Has it engraved on the bottle "made in Italy" and only available to buy in 2 little shops there! She loved the sentiment of it. An expensive gin simply wasn't going to impress her as much as this did :)

My current tipple of choice is Wild Island Sacred Tree with fevertree Indian tonic, ice, blueberries and blackberries. Caorun with fevertree Mediterranean tonic, ice and a few slices of pink lady apple is a close second.

Notable favourites in no particular order:

Gin Mare
York Gin
Masons
Unicorn Tears
King of Soho

dudsville damson gin sounds filthy-gorgeous!! Basically boozy jam? (I bought some gin and raspberry jam from a farmers market this weekend; bloody lovely!)

Ollivander84 · 17/09/2018 22:00

Masons is lovely
Sipsmith lemon drizzle
The new king of soho berry one

PavlovaFaith · 17/09/2018 22:01

Not so keen on flavoured "liqueur" gins. Just classic, crisp types!

Elephant gin is beautiful. Hendricks is a classic.

Manchester gin doesn't taste of anything.

ozymandiusking · 17/09/2018 22:03

Edinburgh Gin Gorgeous. ?Fever tree Tonic

collywobble · 17/09/2018 22:04

Masons tea edition is my signature gin with a raspberry garnish although a surprise one for me was the M&S colour changing lavender gin with fever tree tonic. I tried a lots of samples at a gin festival several years ago which helped me to decide what notes i prefer

dungandbother · 17/09/2018 22:05

Tesco finest gin.
Waitrose tonic (cans)
Spring of rosemary from the garden, hit with a rolling pin.

Mmmm
Gin club you all say? On my Xmas list

PickAChew · 17/09/2018 22:24

han01uk · 17/09/2018 22:36

OneFlewOverTheMumsNest · 17/09/2018 23:01

I love sabatini with fevertree Mediterranean tonic and a spring of thyme.

molemonkey · 17/09/2018 23:10

Sacred pink grapefruit with a slice of pink grapefruit and a sprig of fresh rosemary AMAZING

molemonkey · 17/09/2018 23:11

Forgot to say with light fevertree tomic

KnitFastDieWarm · 17/09/2018 23:14

Six o’clock is lush, also rock rose. Personally I prefer plain old tonic and lime, I’m old fashioned like that Grin

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 17/09/2018 23:17

Misty Isle from Skye with fevertree ice and orange
Harris gin with fevertree and lemon

MingaTurtle · 17/09/2018 23:19

I really like Dr J’s. I like it with regular Fevertree.

Botanicbaby · 17/09/2018 23:29

@PavlovaFaith here’s a Link to craft gin club

Try Schweppes 1783 Crisp Tonic if you haven’t already. I find it much ‘cleaner’ tasting than some of the Fever Tree ones & it doesn’t change the flavour of a good gin either.

cindersrella · 17/09/2018 23:31
