should we get a super king?

Currently have a double with decent mattress which is 3 yo but next year will be redoing our bedroom (moved house since getting the other bed) thinking about the new bed.

Bedroom is 5.2m x 4m, bed is on the long wall, superking frame is around 2m. We have 1 child and another on the way, DS likes an early morning snooze with us, currently very cramped!

Anyone bought a super king bed and regretted it?

We got a euro king as couldn't quite fit a super king. It's half way between a king and a super king. We got a super king duvet though. It's fabulous. Plenty of space.
With the euro king sheets can be a bit harder to find but la redoute has lots of options.

GulagMilkMonitor · 18/09/2018 00:08

Dooooo it!
We have two doubles duvets on our bed (we like different togs) with a lovely super king throw blanket over the top to tie it together.

Only problem with having a super king bed is when you go to stay at other peoples houses and hotels - beds seem a bit small then!

This!! ^^

They’re not called Super King for nothing, you know! You would not regret it.

We have two single Ikea beds with thick super king topper as we wouldn’t have got a bed into the loft otherwise. Even better for not being disturbed by the person next to you!

We don’t have a problem with laundry, but our washing machine has larger drum than standard iirc. Make sure you get a couple of superking pillows too.

MistyMeena · 18/09/2018 00:15

Do it do it do it. I couldn't go back to a standard double now.

Comfortably fits 2 extra small people and a large dog Grin

OlennasWimple · 18/09/2018 00:34

Any recommendations for extra deep super king fitted sheets?

MrsMozart · 18/09/2018 08:34

SandStorm Yes, the electric ends means one's back is supported at whatever angle you want. Legs can gonup as well (bent, not straight up like the head end!).

We use fitted bottom sheets and one superking quilt. Just change it the same as change any other quilt cover. Also have a throw thing so each can adjust warmth level.

Got ours from Dreams. They were very good. It came with the x night's sleep guarantee: I had my mattress changed within a week as I'd gone for too soft and was getting backache.

Isentthesignal · 18/09/2018 08:44

Super King has been amazing - it allows one ill child to sleep in the middle, without too much of a squeeze. Plus if dh or I are restless we don't disturb the other one.

TillyVonMilly · 18/09/2018 09:28

We got a super king in February, love it Grin loads of space to spread out. Bed came from barker and stonehouse and the mattress is a Casper. We got Casper super king pillows too as normal sized ones looked odd and we both seemed to end up at the edge of the bed rather than spreading out. There’s definitely less choice of bedding if you go for the larger pillows but it’s worth it! Next sell loads of super king on line, only standard size pillowcases though and I got a nice plain white set from there when we first got the bed. The rest of the bedding I’ve ordered from Casper. The fitted sheets are really good because they have a wide band of elastic all the way round and the sheet actually fits underneath the mattress, not just to the bottom of it, doesn’t budge no matter how much we move about.

Ameliarose16 · 18/09/2018 09:36

We have a single and a half... it's TINY! My DH says oh it's great we get to cwtch... yes but I wanna get comfy without bloody booting you! I thought I was kinda over it but we're moving house next month and I am
Now 1000% getting a super king😂

shutlingsloe · 18/09/2018 18:58

@OleannasWimple Soak and Sleep do Superking fitted sheets in two depths.

shutlingsloe · 18/09/2018 18:59

@OlennasWimple Blush

pinkpantsrock · 18/09/2018 19:01

I don't understand how two people can sleep
in double, never me or hubby are big but sleeping in double is like hell, let alone putting a child in with us!

Lottapianos · 18/09/2018 19:11

Where do you buy your superking pillows, people? And what do you do about pillowcases? Confused

BitchQueen90 · 18/09/2018 19:19

@lottapianos I just have normal pillows and some of those big square ones.

My superking bed was the best thing I ever bought. Only issue is I currently rent my home and my bedroom is really large so if I ever move I'll need to make sure the bedroom will fit it!

bellsbuss · 18/09/2018 19:21

We have superking but I actually wanted an Emperor size bed 7ft x 7ft, quite limited to where you can get bedding so stuck with superking

bellsbuss · 18/09/2018 19:22

I love it when the children pile in with us at the weekend

WaffleFroggy · 18/09/2018 19:26

My super king was my BEST PURCHASE EVER as that extra bit of space from my husbands snoring means he doesn’t wake me up every night any more! And with 2 babies who love co-sleeping it’s ideal.
Bedding is expensive but January sales are really good for buying duvet covers. I just use normal size pilllows.

tenbob · 18/09/2018 21:38

@OlennasWimple

Wallace Cotton does amazing deep sheets, which have elastic the whole way around rather than just the corners, so they stay put

BagelGoesWalking · 18/09/2018 22:11

Re superking bedding, has anyone tried bedding from Wayfair? They had some fairly nice stuff but I'm not sure of quality as I haven't ever bought anything from them.

serbska · 18/09/2018 22:13

Always yes. Why would you not?

IrregularCommentary · 18/09/2018 22:40

Oh God, zip link superking is hands down the best thing I've ever bought in my life.

Love dh dearly, but fuck me he's even better at arm's length.

Hideandgo · 18/09/2018 22:40

Every fucking time!

TillyVonMilly · 18/09/2018 22:45

lottapianos we got super king pillows from Casper plus bedding. They o my do white or grey and white but we only wanted white bedding anyway. Sleep & Soak do super king pillow cases, I’m not sure if they sell the actual pillows. Regular size pillows look a bit lost on a bigger bed.

ChocolateToast · 18/09/2018 23:24

Replaced our King with Superking this year. Cannot believe the difference. Love love love it😀

I did lots of research to spend our budget carefully. Bought Ikea wooden frame which comes with s choice of 3 slatted bases - we bought the most expensive of the 3. Then got a Leesa mattress, which we bought online. Kept our 4 standard size feather pillows, bought a Superking Duvet from John Lewis and 2 sets of high thread count White Company bedding. Couldn’t be happier with it all. Don’t hesitate OP!
