Matched betting....I know!

I know there are threads dedicated to this, but they are quite technical and go over my head.
For anyone who does / has done it, what is a realistic time commitment to make a few hundred pounds a month? And how quickly does it dry up? I'd quite like to make about £1000 to pay off a lingering debt, could get a float of about £400 to start off.....does that seem doable? TIA.

I got to £1000 in a month doing the sportsbook offers on Profit Accumulator. It took me a long time to do the first 3 or 4 offers, I probably spent at least 2 hours on each one deliberating, watching the videos.. and worrying! Then I suddenly got into the swing of it and stuck to doing 1 or 2 offers per day mon - fri for about an hour a day. I had a £1000 float in a new bank account but I don't think I dipped into more than £500 at a time.

Goodvibesonly · 13/09/2018 21:12

Watching eagerly as I really want to start but am so afraid for some reason! DH thinks it’s all nonsense and I am going to lose money so am completely venturing alone on this and hoping that all the threads that I have read about matched betting on mn are true!

fleshmarketclose · 13/09/2018 21:19

Know nothing about it but ds is celebrating having made £5000 in ten months so would think £1000 is doable.

Tobuyornot99 · 13/09/2018 21:51

Thanks for the replies! My thinking is I easily waste and hour a day faffing on my phone, so if an hour a day worked for you Nancy, once you'd gotten into the swing, then that's great! How many months did you manage before the bookies cottoned on to you?
Wow flesh, 5k sounds bloody amazing!
Goodvibes....we should buddy up and be scared together Grin

He has autism and the odds and probabilities appeal to him. His teacher in Primary told me he thought he'd be a bookie one day, well he likes the money with no risk so this suits him better.

Tobuyornot99 · 14/09/2018 08:50

Ah now flesh, this is what I worry about, is it people with statistician / mathematical genius minds who do well? My only experience of betting is picking a jockey with nice colours on the Grand National and my gramps putting a pound on it for me.....never won Grin

Well you would need to really understand betting odds so the bets you place get you an overall win, surely? Otherwise it gets down to Luck, and obviously unreliable to say the least.....

Funny how you don't hear from people who have lost money spread betting.......... I don't believe that's because everyone wins ! From my experience of gamblers they only ever talk about their wins. Sad really.

I really would think twice OP.

NancyDonahue · 14/09/2018 10:05

Op, There's no risk at all in MB unless YOU do something wrong. You do lose a small amount placing your qualifying bets, less than £1 usually but you quickly make it back. Every £10 in free bets can get you £7 in cash so you quickly start making profits. There are free calculators online so you don't need to be a maths whizz. If you watch the videos on Profit Accumulator a few times it will slowly become clear and there are videos for each offer taking you through step by step. I paid the £17.99 fee to get all the offers and access the forums which are very helpful. I made more than that back on my first day. There's also a good facebook group 'matched betting support by Emma drew' where people will happily check your bets before you place them.

The offers are there. You may as well take advantage of them. Don't let the people who don't understand it put you off.

LurpakIsTheOnlyButter · 14/09/2018 10:10

I made £1600 in about 3 months last year, cashed out for Christmas and I have just started again and £100 up in a week.

It's not gambling, you don't need to be goid at maths, I haven't even passed GCSE maths! You just need to research and understand the principles behind it.

If you want to PM me I will happily guide you through it and give you some tips.

mydietstartsmonday · 14/09/2018 10:14

It is gambling...

Spacezombies · 14/09/2018 10:14

You don't need to understand odds at all.

It doesn't matter what the odds are. The only thing that matters is that the odds on the betting site and close to the odds on the exchange, and you can use the profit accumulator oddschecker to find and tell you which thing to bet on.

The maths, statistics, even the game you bet on do not matter at all. Because it doesn't matter who wins or loses... You make a profit by betting on all outcomes, and then getting a free bet to do the same thing with.

Sign up to profit accumulator and watch the videos. It's really not difficult.

FiddlesticksRiddlesticks · 14/09/2018 10:16

Watching with interest. I am pants. at maths but have 2 credit cards that I’ve not told DH about and would like to pay them off without dipping into family money (paying the min amount and debt not huge but enough that it worries me a little).

mamahanji · 14/09/2018 10:18

You don't need to know anything about betting odds. It does not matter what the outcome of the bet is as you have bet on both outcomes.

We aren't gamblers. We aren't risking money on an outcome. It doesn't matter to me if he football team wins, or the horse wins. I make the same money either way.

mamahanji · 14/09/2018 10:19

Anyone who says it is gambling honestly doesn't understand. If you did, you would clearly see how it is risk free. So maybe before trying to explain something you don't understand, look into it first?

southnownorth · 14/09/2018 10:20

It’s not gambling mydiet. I have been matched betting since 2015 and have always used profit accumulator. The guides on there are very helpful for new beginners.

Spacezombies · 14/09/2018 10:21

@mydietstartsmonday

It's the complete opposite of gambling. It's nothing to do with chance. It doesn't matter who wins or loses... You're not relying on a win or a loss or a draw. Doesn't matter at all what the outcome of the match/race is.

All that matter is you place a bet for something and then place a matching bet against the same thing. You will lose around 50p or something on that first bet but then you get a free bet to use, and do the exact same thing. But this time, because it's the free bet an not your own money, you make a profit no matter what happens. It's not gambling; people just think it must be because it has "betting" in the

Mama1980 · 14/09/2018 10:23

Watching with interest. If anyone could help me get started I'd be grateful.

thenightsky · 14/09/2018 10:24

Do you need to have paypal or can you use ordinary credit card?

Spacezombies · 14/09/2018 10:27

@thenightsky

A lot of sites don't even have PayPal as an option. Use a debit card. The free bet offers and almost always only valid with a debit card. You don't get the free bet if you use moneybookers or skrill or other payment platforms.

mamahanji · 14/09/2018 10:27

Don't deposit using a credit card as you will get charged as cash withdrawal.

Use a debit card for sign ups, and then after the sign ups, use PayPal when available.

Spacezombies · 14/09/2018 10:29

@Mama1980

Go to the profit accumulator website. That has everything you need.

You don't need a paid membership to get the tutorial and first offer helps. Watch the videos, do the first offers and that's all you need. I would highly recommend joining the paid membership though. It finds all the offer for you, and talks you through them step by step and has an oddsmatching software for almost all the sites. You will need to find some on your own, but at that point you will know what you are doing

thenightsky · 14/09/2018 10:29

Thank you. I'm seriously going to look into this. I'm recently retired and have a bit of time on my hands as the weather turns to winter.

mamahanji · 14/09/2018 10:31

I 100% recommend team profit who are free. And oddsmonkey which is a paid service. But again, I'm at 14k in 10 months. Thanks to oddsmonkey and team profit. Cannot recommend them enough.
