Matched betting....I know!

I know there are threads dedicated to this, but they are quite technical and go over my head.
For anyone who does / has done it, what is a realistic time commitment to make a few hundred pounds a month? And how quickly does it dry up? I'd quite like to make about £1000 to pay off a lingering debt, could get a float of about £400 to start off.....does that seem doable? TIA.

It absolutely is not gambling. I guess if you have an addictive nature you could be enticed into the world of real gambling, but if you keep a clear head and only ever use the free bets and offers to bet for and against, there's no gamble in it at all.

mamahanji · 14/09/2018 10:37

I started with £400 in November.

But bare in mind, for the last 3 months I have done this full time. I put in over 40 hours a week. It's reflected in my profits though as I clear £2-£3k a month full time.

Come and join us on the Matched Betting thread 😊. We are very nice and try and help out as much as we can.

I made a £1500 ish doing it a couple of years ago started with £45. You only lose money when you do something wrong. If you follow the instructions it's not gambling and you won't lose. You don't need to understand odds or be a whizz at maths - there's online calculators which do It all for you. I was with Profit accumaltor and the people on the forum are really helpful if you get stuck or make mistake.

I haven't done anything for a while though, I found it quite time consuming, despite what they say about it being a few minutes a day. And I lost a few lucrative bookies because I wasn't doing it enough. I would definitely recommend it for a short terns cash boost.

southnownorth · 14/09/2018 10:39

Can I just add, when you first start stick to high profile football games and horse races, otherwise the bookmakers will most likely gub you. Which means they restrict you from any free bet offers.

Some will do this right away, such as betbright for example.

mydiet buying a raffle ticket at your kids school fete is more of a gamble than MB.

Fork2fork · 16/09/2018 11:30

Did anyone decide to give it a go. I have set up a new bank account but am now not sure whether to take the plunge or not?

Tobuyornot99 · 16/09/2018 11:55

Hey Fork, I've set up a bank account, juts waiting for the debit card. I'm going to give it a go, I've been watching videos / reading the info, still worried I'll mess up though Blush

Good luck tobuy, just take it slowly.

Fork2fork · 16/09/2018 12:18

I will keep checking in to see how you are getting in. My float will be much smaller than your so hopefully you will inspire me to give it a go

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/09/2018 12:21

I’ve been doing this since April and I think I’m the only one it doesn’t work for.

. I made a few hundred from the sign ups but since then I’m not making anything. The caveat to that is that I haven’t done slots or casinos as it seems complicated, so if thats how people are making the bulk of their money that may explain it a bit. But 2up, accas, extra places etc I’m just breaking even on.

Chaosandmadness · 16/09/2018 12:22

Keeping an eye on this thread and trying to pluck up the courage to give it a go. Have signed up to the Profit Accumulator website to watch the tutorials but struggling to get my head around it all (my brain doesn't function on a Sunday morning) Good luck OP . Watching to see how you get on 😁

fairgame84 · 16/09/2018 12:23

I made £1500 In a year. The more time you put into it the more you can make. I'm taking a break from it at the moment.
Avoid horses and stick to high profile football, so English main leagues, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1.
Join team profit as they have a really helpful website and fb page. Oddsmonkey is great for it's oddsmatcher and you can easily cover the monthly fee.

donajimena · 16/09/2018 12:23

I need to dip my toe in the water. I have a very healthy float (student finance Grin)
I would like to give up work as my course is so intense. I only work part time so I'm not after much at all.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/09/2018 12:24

fairgame what are you finding works on football?

Spacezombies · 16/09/2018 12:28

@fairgame84

Why avoid horses. I make around £1000 a month and I only do horseracing. They are quick, so money isn't tied up for 90 minutes so I can do more on the days I have time.

Spacezombies · 16/09/2018 12:30

@ThroughThickAndThin01

Quite simply, if you're not making money then you're doing it wrong.

If the offer is do this and get £X then you should be making 50-70% of that free bet as a profit.

You're probably losing too much on the qualifying bet so maybe be more careful with how you choose your odds.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/09/2018 12:31

How space.? I do horse racing and am making so little.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/09/2018 12:33

But what offers are you using? I’ve been doing things like the sky offer of winner comes 2nd/3rd etc, and laying the win. Is that the kind of thing you are making your money on.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/09/2018 12:34

I definitely lose too much on qualifying bets, I think.

Spacezombies · 16/09/2018 12:35

@ThroughThickAndThin01

For example, there's always things like "bet 20 get 10" or something.

So you do the £20 bet and lose about £1. Then you do the free £10 bet and gain a rpfoit of around £8. Take away your £1 loss and you make £7.

I'm still on sign up offers and some reloads; I know once you switch to completely reload offers its a bit more effort as he rewards are smaller, but you just keep £500 or so as your "bank" and do a few a day and keep the profit. I don't understand how you're not making a profit if you're doing the correct thing. Using offers, matching the bet and choosing close odds.

fairgame84 · 16/09/2018 12:37

I've always avoided horses from advice on team profit as it is believed to lead to quicker gubbing. I don't know how true that is though but i just stick to football.

Football - do the 2ups on bet365 and Paddy. On paddy you can combine 2up with their bet club.
Do the sky bet and coral weekly bet club.
Do the betway bet club as well but they will gub very quickly so make sure you rinse them.
Sky bet do a super price boost every Friday - bet the maximum on that and lay it off on smarkets.
WillHill and Ladbrokes do price boost. Ladbrokes aren't great. WillHill does great offers for the major competitions and they often offer free bets.
Coral and Ladbrokes do a goals for spins most weekends, it's not guaranteed profit but I've made a few quid on the spins.

Spacezombies · 16/09/2018 12:37

And obviously for the offers which are limited to football or whatever, I don't get on horses. I just bet horses when it's a simple "bet this get this free" offer. Anything else would be on football.

Hayles88 · 16/09/2018 12:41

If anyone has any tips or hints could you pm me :)

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/09/2018 12:42

Thanks for all that advice. I’ll crack on with it as I’m enjoying it and whilst I’m not exactly making much on it, I’m not losing really either, just treading water. I need to be more professional about it I think. But the figures of £1000/£500 a month seems unachievable! I’ve still got a few sign ups to do, but I’ve closed a couple of accounts as they weren’t offering much.

Tobuyornot99 · 21/09/2018 13:59

How is it going for the other newbies?
I'm about to make my first bet, but I'm a bit stuck...how can I be sure I'm laying my bet at Betfair? So if I pick Team A at Sky bet to win, when I select Team A at Betfair is that laying them or backing them? I've watched endless tutorials but I'm stuck on thus specific bit Sad
