Betty in Mad Men - just no need, it was the end of the series and unrealistic for a young woman to die of lung cancer

Cordelia in Angel - think they did this to get back at the actress for getting pregnant, the death was so senseless and ruined the long term story arc

Mark in ER - could he not have had a happy ending on that beach? Also it was such a rare condition.

Meg in Home and Away - this made teenage death seem so real

Chris in Stand By Me - a bad boy made good surely he was due good karma and a long life?

Luke and Han in Star Wars - just done for shock value

No one ever dies of dementia in films or tv!

Oh and Dumbledore!

LazyHazyCrazyDaysofSummer · 08/09/2018 16:10

Stringer Bell in The Wire

Pierre Clement in Spiral

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 08/09/2018 16:14

Anya in Buffy.. Especially as it was so quick and sort of brushed over as the series then ended.

Doyle.. Know reasons and all but...

Prue in charmed.. Again reasons but just a shame she was never seen again after that!

Quite a few Hollyoaks deaths though their has been so many! Did love Max..poor OB and the curse of Tom.. Most recently though Dirk!!! Especially as it was such a stupid death.

cricketmum84 · 08/09/2018 16:23

Dennis in Eastenders - broke my heart
Bradley in Eastenders - broke the last remaining bit of it
Snape from HP - he was a good person!

Dapplegrey · 08/09/2018 16:30

Did Matthew die in Downton because the actor wanted to leave the series?

frugalkitty · 08/09/2018 16:35

Goose in Top Gun......after all these years I still well up, and the music that went eithbut didn't help

Poussey in OITNB, I really cried at that.

Will in The Good Wife, heartbreaking and unnecessary

Allegorical · 08/09/2018 16:36

Matthew Crawley in downtown abbey. It just felt wrong and the man she ended up with after never felt like the real thing.

RoseMartha · 08/09/2018 16:36

Marian in Robin Hood
And
Barbara in Call the midwife

Sarahandduck18 · 08/09/2018 16:37

Jenny in Forrest Gump I feel like the writers were making a moralistic point about her being a fallen woman who therefore deserved to die.

Oh just seen he has been mentioned. Yes I think so dapplegrey. I thing he was supposed to be there for the long haul.

InezGraves · 08/09/2018 16:38

Yes, he did Dapple he wanted to work in Hollywood. I remember an almost unrecognisable version of him much more groomed and buff -- showing up on Graham Norton's sofa. No idea how he fared, but the great sorrow of my younger years was when Michael Praed's Robin of Sherwood was killed off after two seasons (and replaced with dead-eyed Jason Connery as Robin Mark II before it got cancelled anyway) because MP wanted out for a Broadway lead in a musical that closed after nine nights. The sadness.

Sarahandduck18 · 08/09/2018 16:39

David Palmer in 24, another writer’s revenge death

frugalkitty · 08/09/2018 16:42

I thought of another one, as a little girl when Charlotte dies in Charlotte's Web it really upset me. Even when I read the book with my own children, the simplicity of her death really brought the tears to my eyes.

LongSummerDays · 08/09/2018 16:44

Daniel (Gina and Phil's son) and then later Phil Bellamy in Heartbeat. I wept buckets.

Nic Grundy in The Archers. Scruff in The Archers.

Matthew in Downton Abbey.

Sarahandduck18 · 08/09/2018 16:48

Bonnie in Gone with the Wind

I just can’t watch it.

I walk out of the room and come back for the end.

I just imagine she was sent away to boarding school or something.

Little kids should never die in films.

Which brings me to TJ in My Girl, so basically the whole film is about death but I want it to be a happy film because a childhood in 1970s Pennsylvania looks so cool.

Richard Harrow, in Boardwalk Empire. Was sooo close to getting the happy ending he deserved.

GoJohnnyGoGoGoGo · 08/09/2018 16:51

Tonks and Lupin. Poor Teddy

SecretLimonadeDrinker · 08/09/2018 16:55

@Sarahandduck18 same re Bonnie Sad

Honey2018 · 08/09/2018 16:57

Ygritte in GOT- even though most of the cast get killed off I just think they made such a better couple than John Snow and daenerys.

I’m sure no one agrees with me but Grace from Peaky Blinders.

Hank from breaking bad broke my heart and obviously Dobby needs a mention.

PipeTheFuckDown · 08/09/2018 17:12

Will never forgive JK for Sirius or Fred. Dumbledore was a bastard though

Denny. Denny slayed me.

Prue in Charmed too. Would have preferred Phoebe bumped off tbh. And Piper sobbing and shouting at the grave. Well up just thinking about that.

kaytee87 · 08/09/2018 17:15

Glen in walking dead.

Davros · 08/09/2018 17:22

I agree with a PP about Richard Poole in Death in Paradise Sad

MipMipMip · 08/09/2018 17:25

Oh god Mrs Lanningham. Welling up here.

Good to know some people here have taste kierenthecommunity Grin Although personally I didn't mind about Shane. Because of Lem... I never understood why the show didn't catch on here.

Robin2323 · 08/09/2018 17:25

Captain Charles Vane - Black Sails.
Tara- sons of anarchy.
Elizabeth in Poldark.
Mr and Mrs Jin - Lost.
River Song - Dr Who
Trip - Enterprise
Finnick - Mockingjay Part 2

Honey2018 · 08/09/2018 17:34

Yes Robin I agree about Tara SOA! They made her character so pathetic in the end and killed her in the worst way possible. So depressing.
