Huawei phones - why do we keep being offered them on contract!

So twice now I've gone to upgrade and each time we've had the push to this brand. Are they new and giving incentives to retailers?

I don't know about incentives but they are really good phones.

MishMashMosher · 07/09/2018 20:16

I know it's not what you asked but I have one and love it. I never thought I'd not have an apple phone. My contract is so much cheaper too.

Hayles88 · 07/09/2018 20:18

They're a much better product then the iphone/Samsung/Nokia etc offerings. As someone in the industry, you're getting a better quality phone by going with them.

PattiStanger · 07/09/2018 20:20

They always get really good reviews on any thread on here about phones, I'm thinking about one when my contract is up

Livedandlearned2 · 07/09/2018 20:23

How do you pronounce Huawei?

toastfiend · 07/09/2018 20:25

I have one and love it. Had a Samsung previously and have an iPhone as a work phone. The Huawei is significantly better than both and I pay comparatively little for a very good contract with it. My monthly payments have gone down a lot compared to the Samsung and I have 3x the data I did previously. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about it. It's fast, battery life is good and the camera is fantastic.

Unihorn · 07/09/2018 20:26

I've had one for two years so definitely not new. The new P20 has an incredible camera from what I've seen though.

marvelousways · 07/09/2018 20:28

I really wanted a huawei when I recently upgraded but I didn't in the end because of the problems/incompatibility syncing with fitbits.Sad If it wasn't for that I would have got one.

Eh? I have one and have no bother syncing my fitbits Confused charge HR and blaze.

The cameras are amazing, although they do have an automatic filter that clears your skin. Took me ages to figure out why my son didn't look right, it takes his freckles Grin

TheSpottedZebra · 07/09/2018 20:33

They are aggressively going after market share, so yes, they are working closely with retailers.

Panicmode1 · 07/09/2018 20:37

I love mine. I've had it for 18 months or so. My Fitbit synchs without any problems so don't understand that reservation!

MongerTruffle · 07/09/2018 20:39

How do you pronounce Huawei?
Wah-way

user1493841671 · 07/09/2018 20:41

I pronounce it as I would Hawaii Blush

Ohyesiam · 07/09/2018 20:41

When I got my upgrade the guy in the shop told me he rates them over iPhones.

Hayles88 · 07/09/2018 20:42

There's no problem with syncing, they are an Android phone. The sync with most devices/wearables

MellyPapa · 07/09/2018 20:44

I pronounce it like "Hoo-Wa-way" all quite soft.

I've had 2 and loved each of them. The cameras are brilliant, and with a basic plastic backing case they have both survive regular drops.

PattiStanger · 07/09/2018 20:45

Don't fitbits sync with all android phones? It's about the software rather than the hardware isn't it?

Hayles88 · 07/09/2018 20:46

PattiStanger

Yes exactly.

Livedandlearned2 · 07/09/2018 20:46

They sound really good, I'm going to have a look to see when my contract is up, I need to save some money.

mostdays · 07/09/2018 20:47

Oh, now you lot have got me thinking again. I've been trying to decide between the p20 and the Samsung s8- same contract cost and allowances and provider for both. Friends have almost all said the s8 when asked but now I'm wondering if that's wrong.

booellesmum · 07/09/2018 20:47

DD aged 17 has an Honor 10 from them. Her choice and loves it.
Before getting it her and DH looked at a lot of specs and it was the best for the price.

trilbydoll · 07/09/2018 20:48

Fitbit don't sync with the Huawei P8 lite. They sync with more expensive Huawei phones but not that one. I have to use the ipad or dh's Samsung galaxy.

Other than that it's a great phone!

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 07/09/2018 20:50

I gave up my iphone for a P20lite. It's excellent.

MrsChollySawcutt · 07/09/2018 20:51

Really long established brand extremely popular in Hong Kong. All DD15s friends from Hong Kong have them and are bemused by the UK girls obsession with iPhones.
