Is there anything everyone likes?

Just looking at the John Lewis advert thread....I thought it was sweet but there are people who don’t...fair enough.

But are there some things that are universally liked?

For example

A kitten, who can’t like a kitten?
.
A walk on a crisp autumn day?

Cain Dingle? The reason I stopped watching Emmerdale. Well, the Dingle family as a whole. Ruined the show.

My offering... receiving a good old fashioned hand written letter in the post?

Mark my words, there will be someone on mumsnet who will find this a gross violation of their privacy and they only have a letterbox because it came with the house. Who will declare that it's spectacularly rude to send someone a letter without ringing them first to ask permission to send one. But only if they ring at a set time, pre-agreed by text. Because their phone ringing is a gross violation of privacy. And the text has to be pre-agreed in person. But they feel violated if someone speaks to them. So the text has to be agreed using sign language and a mediator. Which has to be pre-agreed as well. Repeat to infinity...

It's a bit boring if everyone likes the same thing isn't it? I'm glad this thread shows there isn't anything that everyone would like really Grin

Harrykanesrightsock · 07/09/2018 07:46

Baby elephants

gggrrrargh · 07/09/2018 07:47

Patrick Stewart?

We played an ice breaker where each group had to agree on something they all liked. One of the men couldn’t understand why I didn’t like fast cars, he thought he had cracked it Grin

Sorry but my' DS1 hates sleep (shame cos I love it!). He has nightmares every night and frequently sleepwalks so I suppose it's normal not to enjoy it but still, i wish he liked it!

PeridotCricket · 07/09/2018 08:01

Pandas and baby elephants. Surely that’s it, !

Ha! I was going to say a good poo but many beat me to it. And no one has disagreed.

My nominations:

A lovely dream.
Scratching an itch.
A view of the sea.

SnowOnTheSeine · 07/09/2018 08:25

I don't like scratching an itch. I get extremely itchy legs and scratching makes my legs bleed

GrouchyKiwi · 07/09/2018 08:26

A sunny day after days of rain.

GrouchyKiwi · 07/09/2018 08:27

The relief of a good shit is ruined by the fragrance of said shit.

Plutonium · 07/09/2018 08:31

Lonicera - Yes in keeping with the whole tone of the thread, are you in the right place? Grin

Plutonium · 07/09/2018 08:37

@Grouchy- or an anal fissure.

ImogenTubbs · 07/09/2018 08:53

I hate poo'ing. I wish I didn't have to do it. No health problems, just find it unpleasant. I try not to get hung up about it, obviously, as I have to do it every day, but if I could have a magic device that would just evaporate it from my bowels I would! Grin

LoniceraJaponica · 07/09/2018 08:54

The smell of rain hitting the ground after hot, sunny weather
Freshly baked bread
Freshly ground coffee
Being loved by someone you love
Being happy for other people's achievements, especially your children

These are a few of my favourite things
When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad.

The smell of rain hitting the ground after hot, sunny weather

You mean when it dissolves all the dried in dog shit, piss and puke?

AgentCooper · 07/09/2018 09:38

Getting a seat on public transport is definitely the best suggestion I've seen on this thread. Who doesn't like that?

NowtSalamander · 07/09/2018 09:40

DH hates Tom Hanks.

Can’t beleive no one’s said Judy Dench yet. That was my first thought.

But getting a seat on public transport is so fabulous I’m going to vote for that.

Ifailed · 07/09/2018 09:45

Getting a seat on public transport Sounds good, until a few seconds in you realise why no one else wanted to sit next to the other passenger.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/09/2018 10:00

I once knew someone who didn’t like kittens. Not scared of them. Actively disliked them. Because their bones feel like cotton buds (ear cleaners) under the skin apparently. I decided that despite being quite a pleasant woman in other ways , this was a deal breaker for me.

iklboo · 07/09/2018 10:03

I don't think we'll ever find anything everyone likes.

DH loves the chocolates in Quality Street / Roses etc that I hate and vice versa - at least that's a win at Christmas when we get the obligatory tub off each of his three brothers and his sister.
