Mine goes really frizzy

But if you put leave in conditioner it goes really nice

Some of it sits perfectly, other bits look like i’ve stuck my fingers in a socket! One bit will curl perfectly (my hair is basically straight) by I’m too useless with my hair to curl the rest of it.

My method of dealing with my hair is blast it dry with a hair dryer and run the straighteners through it.

Both my daughters have inherited their dads thick curly hair. I am trying desperately to manage it but really not sure I’m succeeding.

I've been sulfate-free, paraben-free, just about everything-free with my shampoo and conditioners for years, my hair just has a mind of it's own.

ironfloor and surpriseitsme - what is the curly girl method? I did google but came up with a lot of not much actual info.

Random! Some parts straight, some parts curly with a bit of frizz mixed in.
Much better dried with a hotbrush and a drop of serum.

@thisisnotmyrealname1, it's where you don't use shampoo (or use sulphate free shampoo, which I think you are already doing) and use silicone free conditioner to wash your hair like you would with shampoo. Followed by another application of silicone free conditioner. Then you could use a curl creme (I use Boots pink curl creme) and leave your hair to dry naturally. No towel drying, you could plop it with a t-shirt to speed up the drying process.

And don't use heat or brushes or comb. I don't even finger comb my hair as it's extremely prone to frizzy.

Excuse all the typos. Was typing in a mad rush.

Mine would look okay, would have a slight wave, but it would take at least 4+ hours to dry naturally.

Use shampoo & conditioner & serum whilst wet & that’s it so it looks like 1st photo. Occasionally I blow dry/wave it & use more products & it looks like the 2nd.

The only thing I can’t do is keep it straight unless a professional does it & I still wake up with a kink.

Tends to be a tad wavy on one side but not the other.. I dotn brush it usually after I've washed it, but do give it a good brush just before washing

Long thick and wavy,I'm lucky that my hair is one thing that's easy to look after.

@ironfloor269 - thanks. A brush hasn't been near my hair in over 20 years, a wide tooth afro-style comb once or twice a month maybe. My hair is frizz central if left to its own devices. It's hair is thick with natural ringlets. On a good day my hair is lovely, on a bad day it's really, really bad. I only wash it twice a week, usually leaving it to dry naturally but if the weather is really cold I'll take most of the moisture out with the dryer on cool.
Sometimes I straighten it, in which case I use a liss product mixed with an oil , other times I put a curl serum through it mixed with an oil. Thinking about it, the oil is probably loaded with silicone; best I go and have a look.

Ironfloor269 · 06/09/2018 09:06

@this is, yes, I once bought a Twisted Sista curl activator cream that did wonders to keep the frizz away but when I checked the ingredients, it had dimethicone. You need to check really carefully when buying hair products. Even the most natural looking oil can contain silicone sometimes.

I highly recommend the curly girl method. It's revolutionised my hair. It's a shame that it could me 40 years to finally appreciate my naturally curly hair.
