Saw Wicked yesterday for the first time. It was so incredible. Am desperate to see it again! Cant get the songs out of my head although the plot was nuts.

Bookmarking as I’m currently researching musicals in London for next month

Wicked without a doubt!

Hamilton

I took DS and wasn't sure that I would like it but I was blown away by it.

KTyoupigeon · 02/09/2018 23:56

Kinky Boots was fabulous

TwentySmackeroos · 02/09/2018 23:56

Wicked isn’t one of my favourites! The songs just dont float my boat. I thought Matilda was incredibly clever lyrically and really well staged. The Lion King production blew me away the first (and second) time I saw it.

Onesmallstepforcatkind · 02/09/2018 23:56

Les mis. Could see it again and again
Also enjoyed wicked and the lion king

fromroses · 02/09/2018 23:58

Hamilton. It's extraordinary.

shutlingsloe · 03/09/2018 00:02

Guys and Dolls by the Talawa Theatre Company at the Royal Exchange in Manchester was the best I've ever seen.

Loved Wicked too though.

ShowOfHands · 03/09/2018 00:02

Les Mis. It's extraordinary.

PawneeParksDept · 03/09/2018 00:03

It was Wicked until I saw Hamilton

Worst was The Commitments

Childrenofthesun · 03/09/2018 00:06

Another Les Mis fan - just love the music.

Another vote for Kinky Boots. Wasn’t convinced about seeing it ( went with a friend who had booked the tickets) and was blown away by it.
Fantastic show.
Have yet to see Hamilton

TroubledLichen · 03/09/2018 00:25

Hamilton, obviously.

I have a disdain for almost all musicals and their cheesy songs but Hamilton really is fantastic.

DramaAlpaca · 03/09/2018 00:25

I loved Kinky Boots, it was fabulous fun.

My all time favourite though is Mamma Mia because I love the songs so much.

MadisonAvenue · 03/09/2018 00:29

American Idiot. I went to New York especially to see it when Billie Joe Armstrong appeared in it.

GoodHeavensNoImAChicken · 03/09/2018 00:30

I must be the only person to have not understood the hype around Hamilton. I enjoyed the lyrics but overall I was so underwhelmed

My favourites are Matilda, Mary Poppins (the tap dancing upside down will never be forgotten!) and billy Elliot.

I saw billy Elliot for the first time aged 12 and I’ll never forget the emotion of the dance with the older billy when the young billy flies.

Talisin · 03/09/2018 00:35

Hamilton. Once you’ve seen that, everything else is going to be second best.

tumpymummy · 03/09/2018 00:42

Les Mis and Matilda. But I haven't seen Hamilton!

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 03/09/2018 00:46

Wicked
Then Matilda, Lion King, Les Mis

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/09/2018 00:47

Mary Poppins was amazing when I saw it. We had absolutely marvellous seats (just luck really — we were in the middle of bunches of schoolchildren, Cubs and Brownies so I suspect nobody else wanted them!), just in the perfect place for all the staging and special effects.

The Producers was very good as well. It was made even better by the fact it was sign language supported when I saw it, and the interpreter really threw himself into it!

I was underwhelmed by the recent tour of TSoM, although I wanted to like it. Maria was good, but her wig was awful, the Captain did a lot of staring dramatically into the middle distance, and the Reverend Mother mixed up the words in How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria?. I might have been unlucky though — my DSis saw the tour with Jason Donovan and really enjoyed it.

I'm glad I'm hearing good things about Kinky Boots, I'm going to book tickets for the tour soon. Smile

EnidButton · 03/09/2018 02:10

Les Mis. I adore it.

The songs and music from Phantom have a special place in my heart. My original cast casette tape was almost worn out by the end of my teens. But I've seen it twice and find the staging in the first half to be slightly too slow.

Jersey Boys.
