Just for fun! Aside from property/cars, whats the best thing you've purchased this year?

Mine has to be my rice cooker/steamer. Sad i know 😁

I love that some of you ordered Chilly's bottles after me and avocadosrus recommended them! Do you love them?

@Holidayshopping can't go in dishwasher (but dead easy to clean), drink from the bottle (doesn't taste metallic at all), what's great is it keeps drinks freeeeezing! All day!!

Lightshines · 04/09/2018 22:02

A silver torque bracelet for DS17 which he hasn't taken off since the day I gave it to him

Mrsramsayscat · 04/09/2018 22:20

A Dyson absolute. A small antique desk for £55. .

onedayatatime73 · 04/09/2018 22:26

Oh and nanolash eyelash serum. Always had short stubby lashes and since using it have had to cut mine because they were getting too long to wear sunglasses.

Gig tickets....lots of gig tickets

DeadButDelicious · 04/09/2018 22:30

Not a thing but the money I spent adopting our new dog is hands down the best money I have spent in a long time. She's currently sat on my knee snoring away. It's like she's been here forever. She has completed our family. She's ace. Smile

I LOVE this thread! Although it's made me realise how much money I've wasted on things I don't really love. 🤔

Anyway, my best buys are completely shallow: a WW subscription, a decent haircut and Viviscal shampoo & conditioner. I feel so much better about myself.

Two nights staying in Portmeirion in July. Most expensive hotel I will ever stay in, but worth every minute.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 05/09/2018 11:18

MAM self sterilising bottles. Got rid of the massive steriliser and they also have cute pictures on

thenightsky · 05/09/2018 11:54

ForalltheSaints I'd LOVE to stay in Portmerion. Dare I ask how much it was in July and were you in the actual hotel or one of the cottages?

CakeNinja · 05/09/2018 12:11

Portmeirion gives me the creeps Grin

AveABanana · 05/09/2018 12:14

Second the bamboo toast prong thingees. And the led umbrella - www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00T5BYYDO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_IM7JBbVTVW3RT?tag=mumsnetforum-21 although this doesn't do the parasol bit.

BrendasUmbrella · 25/09/2018 14:30

My Beauty Pie subscription. I didn't think I'd use it as much as I do. The face powder is amazing, so is the clay cleanser.

Thatstheendofmytether · 25/09/2018 14:33

@Pinklady11

Snap just last week after a recommendation from MN haha best food purchase ever!

AromaticSpices · 25/09/2018 15:17

Lots of lovely ideas on here! The standout one for me though is @Canshopwillshop fantastic description of a bed with one half firmer than the other. This sounds like a total marriage saver as we are currently arguing over how firm our next mattress should be! Where, pray tell, did you buy this mattress?! Thanks!

Canshopwillshop · 25/09/2018 17:00

@aromaticspices - our mattress is a Somnus Supremacy Marquis 14000 - very grand name! It’s a ‘zip and link’ which means you can have the two different tensions and then just zip together - genius and I luff it!

We bought ours from a local independent store but if you search for Somnus mattresses there are other stockists around the country, including www.landofbeds.co.uk
Hope I’ve helped save your marriage 😅

I cringe as I write this. It was an impulsive buy or a F* It moment of a Smart Cara food waste disposal - love - love - love. I now see it as essential as my dishwasher. DP still doesn't know the true cost but he does like it now we're using it. It's very difficult to explain how wonderful it is. Once I'm organised it will also be used to supply my compost heap.
