Middle class towns

We drove home from holiday yesterday and passed through Marlborough where we made a lunch stop to break our journey. What a fabulous town! Everything about it felt so upmarket; the shops, smart people, etc. Where have you been that felt so 'posh'?

Costwold towns like Stow-on-the-Wold.

Cambridge and Oxford always feel posh but that's because I've only seen the city centres!

I really like Horsham in Sussex. Especially the pedestrianised town centre.

A lot of the smaller towns in Norfolk, Halesworth, Beccles, Bungay, Eye (though that's Suffolk) they're spookily uniformly middle class.

Harrogate, Alnwick, Corbridge

Burford, Moreton in Marsh, and Marlborough.

Buxton is lovely and full of green spaces.
Kendal and Windermere.

I'm from Stoke though so easily impressed.

Helmsley. Coming from the NE I’m always surprised how wealthy large parts of North Yorkshire seem to be and wonder how we largely missed out.

Prof Yaffle, aren’t all those towns in Suffolk ?. I’d add Bury St Edmunds in there too .

At Albans - or at least the conservation area near the Abbey.😍

MargaretDribble · 30/08/2018 09:37

St Albans, obviously.

I live in Cheltenham, but it has it's issues - like all towns.

On average, yes, probably more MC overall than some - but not perfect by a long way.

When I grew up I remember we had 'A' murder..

Nowadays they unfortunately happen a little more frequently.
