Help solve the mystery of the bloody bath.

Got up to find what definitely looks like blood in the bath this morning. Same thing happened 2 mornings ago. WTF? No one has a clue where it’s coming from (DH & 3 kids all as flummoxed as I am). Any ideas?

As another poster has suggested, keeping the bathroom door closed overnight is a good idea (although not good for the cat if it is her)
Cat pee smells bad though. I would imagine the bathroom would stink if that's what it was.
Very strange Confused

MakeMineATwin2 · 30/08/2018 08:32

It looks like rust

SilkeOvesen · 30/08/2018 08:33

If the cat’s fine, it’s rust. I’m sure of it.

I once ran a bath with rusty pipes (no one warned me) and came back to what looked like a tub full of blood. It was hideous, I started to cry (even knowing it wasn’t blood!). Rusty water can look really horrible.

It's 100% the cat. I take calls about cat cystitis about 3 times a day, 6 days a week and the vast majority of them will pee in the bath or sink, particularly outdoor cats who don't have access to a litter tray.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 30/08/2018 08:59

Female and neutered male cat pee doesn't necessarily smell. Entire Tom cat urine however.....!

JovialNickname · 30/08/2018 11:10

A few years ago I started finding teeth in my bathroom sink in the morning. Whole adult teeth, with the roots and everything. I live alone and it scared the shit out of me.

There was a dentists surgery a few doors down and it turned out they were somehow travelling up the pipes!

Maybe try leaving the plug in so you know whether it's something coming up, or whether it's pussycat? Glad you're taking her to the vets anyway Smile

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 30/08/2018 12:52

@JovialNickname I would have been terrified! How on earth did you work out what was happening?

@WhippetyStourie hope your cat is ok - we had a cat with cystitis once and he didn't show much sign of symptoms till it got quite bad. Easily treated once we knew though.

Maybugger · 30/08/2018 12:57

Cat with cystitis?
Look up....... Is something dripping through the ceiling?
😱

AsAProfessionalFekko · 30/08/2018 13:26

I'm still boggling about the teeth!

MulticolourMophead · 30/08/2018 13:47

If the cat is fine, then do you have a shower head above the bath? It may be that the water hasn't properly shut off, and the shower head is dripping rusty water into the bath.

Rebecca36 · 30/08/2018 13:52

Period?
Whoever left it should learn to wash it away.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 30/08/2018 13:55

Whoa whoa.

Are we saying dentists flush teeth away ?

Not, like, dispose of them as medical waste??

Really.....?

bonzo77 · 30/08/2018 14:03

Dentist here. And former dental nurse. Since 1993 ish. Have NEVER known of teeth to be disposed of via the drains. Always via clinical waste or sharps or with amalgam or metal waste if appropriate.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 30/08/2018 14:16

The teeth...?! Shock

flumpybear · 30/08/2018 14:37

Leave the plug in ... you can smell it and take a sample To the bet maybe?

premiertav · 30/08/2018 14:46

Definitely think it's the cat. Have you managed to have it seen?

NewUserNameTime · 30/08/2018 14:57

That's quite scary looking!

MauraIsles · 30/08/2018 15:05

I think it's something coming up from a blocked pipe, it's leaving water to settle around the plughole and leaving a ring of rust, but a bit of water has trailed off as it's come up and created the trail in the bath!

PhilomenaButterfly · 30/08/2018 15:08

It looks red round the plughole. Is anyone of menstruating age and may not want to tell you? I was very weird about my periods, even when I was 18.

Golde · 30/08/2018 15:12

I'm going with the cat theory too

NellieBee · 30/08/2018 15:17

Argh this is so creepy!

penguinsnpandas · 30/08/2018 15:19

Have you got a girl who could have just started periods?

Or a DH who is murdering people at night? 😱

Our cat bled in the bath once so that's possible. No sign of injury and just one off and didn't smell.

BarbaraofSevillle · 30/08/2018 15:19

No-one who's had a fake tan been taking a bath?

BarbaraofSevillle · 30/08/2018 15:21

Does it smell like cat wee?

TheSultanofPingu · 30/08/2018 15:21

I still think rust from the shower head/hose if the op has one over the bath. It seems to start from the head end of the bath in the centre, just below where a shower would be.
