I am 40 and have recently noticed I take a lot longer to heal. Just small cuts etc are more likely to take ages and to scar. Moan

Yup.

I started a new role on the 1st of June.

The previous week at the handover of one part of the old role, I parked at an angle and as I closed the door, it scraped my shin. It bled and I swore. Alot.

3 months later, is has only just healed [the scrape] and I still have scabby bits on the bit that bled.

Outrageous and I would like my money back please!

Therewere5inthebed · 28/08/2018 10:44

My armpit hair stopped growing and I gave only patchy leg hair too now. (45)

dontblameme · 28/08/2018 10:45

Yes! I scratched my hand on a thorny bush months ago and the scar is still there!

Oh God, so many things seemed to happen overnight after turning 40:

plantar fasciitis
niggly back
age WARTS
pelvic floor less reliable
silent reflux
hair changed texture
body hair where none used to be
loss of muscle tone

Grrr

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 28/08/2018 11:03

Skin tags.
Pubes in weird places like the outside of my knee
Unexpected groaning when standing/sitting/changing position

Ignoramusgiganticus · 28/08/2018 11:03

I've lost the hair on my legs but they are coming out of pimples on my chin instead.
It's harder to lose weight and really wary tho put on.

The worst thing is the memory loss. You just can't recall stuff that you know would have been there in an instant a few years ago.

Septima · 28/08/2018 11:07

You can’t see very well. The optician fixed me up with varifocals and I can’t see even more now Confused

DMCWelshCakes · 28/08/2018 11:08

About to turn 40 & in the last few weeks I've had the silent reflux.

Not enjoying it.

maZebraltov · 28/08/2018 11:11

Everything mentioned so far I knew was going to happen so no surprises. Maybe the timing surprised me, didn't know for instance that hearing starts declining in 30s. But I knew it was all coming. I didn't know I'd be unusual in not minding ageing, though: that's my only big surprise.

Not being able to multi-task any more. Like not being able to conduct 2 conversations at once. I was excellent at multi-tasking when young, but lost it in my mid-late 30s. No one told me that multi-tasking ability can fail so young. But some people can never multi-task at any age, so I was lucky, really.

Applesandoranges1 · 28/08/2018 11:12

Yup, the hairy chin.. not sure what to do with it, do I pluck?!

General widening of the waist.

Sagging of jawline.

Boobs have dropped.

I seem to get more flustered about the small stuff too.

I'm 40.

darlingchops · 28/08/2018 11:15

facial hair
anxiety
ache - mostly in the mornings tho tbh
eyesight has gone down hill

I still like being older though, I feel like I've come into my own. I even like my wrinkles.

Jellylover · 28/08/2018 11:18

Yep to everything already mentioned. Add in the menopause and it's fun fun fun all the way.

TheHulksPurplePanties · 28/08/2018 11:19

Acne! Never had it as a teenager, now I've got loads!

itbemay · 28/08/2018 11:22

Beard. I’m growing a beard! (Female) Shock

Biscuitsneeded · 28/08/2018 11:24

Becoming forgetful when I used to have the memory of an elephant and never forgot anything.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 28/08/2018 11:33

Long thick dark hairs on the backs of my legs (above the back of the knee so right where you can't easily see or reach them)

Dark bristly chin hairs that appear from nowhere to an inch long overnight (and of course the all over the face peach fuzz)

Saggy eyelids, saggy jawline.

Arse disappears to become one of those shapeless "mum-jeans" arses

Strange aches and pains that come and go and seem to pop up in a different body part everyday and seem to have no cause (for me, today, it's in the ball of my right foot under my big toe)

Mouth's default position is downturned and miserable looking
Injuries don't heal
Can't hold farts in
Eyes take forever to adjust to distance/light levels
Keep noticing misogyny everywhere

Singlenotsingle · 28/08/2018 11:50

Well if you think you have problems at 40, just wait til you get to 60!

fieryginger · 28/08/2018 12:04

I'm 48 and lots have things have started happening at once. Achy knees and finger joints, so much grey, needing reading glasses to read anything at all, constipation and noticing when I go or not (never registered my whole life), insomnia.

Also noticing how life has flown by, to this point. How it really doesn't seem 5 minutes since my kids were little. The possibility of becoming a grandma and it not being a teen pregnancy. Eeeeek.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 28/08/2018 12:06

Most of the things people have mentioned above have happened to me. It still made me laugh though. Saggy arse, saggy everything, chin hair, plus a rogue hair on the ear lobe. It's brilliant.

Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 28/08/2018 12:10

Many of the above! All the hair 'changes' everywhere (bastards)...many expected, plenty unwelcome...but I also now have a white eyelash!! I didn't even know that was a thing! Anyone else, or am I weird (even for mid 40s)?
