Anyone recommend a decent reusable insulated coffee cup for student DS?

DS will be travelling to Uni on the train daily and likes a coffee, I thought a nice insulated cup for him to fill and take with him on the train would make a nice gift. Dishwasher safe would be good. He doesn't like anything too ostentatious, cool elegance would be perfect :o

That's very thoughtful!

Keepcups are currently fashionable I think.

My favourite is my Contigo though.

CMOTDibbler · 25/08/2018 20:11

I love my Contigo as you can just sling it in your bag. The plain metal one can be dishwashed

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/08/2018 20:12

Thank you, I'll check both those out. :)

I don't drink tea or coffee but people seem to enjoy it!

Definitely contigo !

Keepcups are great. I have a glass one, you can mix and match the different components to be as bright or as understated as you like. I've had mine a year now and it's dishwasher safe, doesn't leak.

You can also buy replacement seals etc. Instead of replacing the whole cup should you need to, so good value and less wasteful too Smile

So, it's a two horse race :)

Another daft question, he usually drinks latte or cappuccino, so what size cup do you think?

Definitely Contigo.

QuantumPixies · 25/08/2018 20:18

Another vote for Contigo. They keep everything mega hot.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 25/08/2018 20:19

100% Contigo. DH and I both have one for work and they're brilliant. And come in lots of lovely understated colours.

FaithEverPresent · 25/08/2018 20:19

We got DH a Bodum for Father’s Day. He’s been really impressed with it and how long it keeps drinks hot.

helpawomanout · 25/08/2018 20:20

Contigo without a doubt. I have tried all of the options and this ones definitely a winner

helpawomanout · 25/08/2018 20:21

And I have the one that's the size of a large caramel latte from Starbucks. Probably doesn't help Brew

fraggle84 · 25/08/2018 20:21

Contigo

Asda have them for £10 at the moment

QuestionableMouse · 25/08/2018 20:24

I have a great one from Amazon by a brand called Simply Modern. It kept ice frozen for over 12 hours on the hottest day on the year. I've also put coffee in it at 7 am and it's still been hot at tea time (6pm ish).

Doesn't have a leak proof lid though which is the only drawback.

RSTera · 25/08/2018 20:26

Contigo.

I've never had another one that could sit upside down in your bag and not leak. Keeps coffee hot for hours.

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/08/2018 20:28

Lots more votes for Contigo while I was browsing! Needs to be leakproof, he'll be carrying a laptop and might not be the best at holding it upright.

Any particular models?

what about a flask?
he can fill it at home but coffee shops are usually happy to pour the coffee in there.
tiger has nice ones

helpawomanout · 25/08/2018 20:31

I have this one and the same model in silver. I believe they were £10-12

Actually might I have seen those in Costco in a pack of two?

Will investigate.

I got mine from Asda, they always put them on offer for the beginning of the term so have a little look around

WaxOnFeckOff · 25/08/2018 20:38

He has a insulated bottle for water and DH has loads of flasks but I though the cup might be better for his purposes, I suppose he is 18 now and doesn't need to do what we tell him, but we've tended to limit him to 1 a day (2 at an absolute maximum) - he is very quiet and very very compliant. I'm hoping that changes when he goes to Uni,

We don't have an Asda nearby, we have a big Sainsburys and a shitey Tesco.

Nespresso are the best I've found. Don't leak at all and keep coffee warm for hours and hours

Wolfcub · 25/08/2018 20:44

Contiguo, one with the twist top that keeps the drinking portion clean if he is travelling a lot

helpawomanout · 25/08/2018 20:45

Amazon also have them but Costco may be cheaper. Also don't overly use metal spoons in them, I ruined one by doing this. I put my latte in and give it a little shake - proof that it does not leak Grin

Didn't realise I was so keen for this cup.
