hugoagogo · 18/08/2018 22:01

Storybook international catchy isn't it? Grin

Somanymistakes · 18/08/2018 22:01

@hugoagogo
So strange. I would have said I didn't know that show but the lyrics you quote are in my memory.
I so wish I remembered more. (Of life. Not necessarily that program)

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 18/08/2018 22:02

Wattoo wattoo has some funny looking birds in. I think they were geese. I can't remember the theme tune though. Just remember it used to be on before or after The Smurfs, which was my favourite.

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 18/08/2018 22:02

Oh wow how were those lyrics locked in my memory?Grin

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/08/2018 22:03

I think there’s might have been an episode of blood and honey where Tony Robinson told a story from down a well. But I’m not sure that’s the one you’re thinking of.

Somanymistakes · 18/08/2018 22:03

Was Trapdoor the one down the well?

VioletCharlotte · 18/08/2018 22:04

Woody the Woodpecker?

Wtf was this 80's kids cartoon called...
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/08/2018 22:05

Actually the well one might be Tales from fat tulip’s garden.

DiabolicalMess · 18/08/2018 22:05

No somany trapdoor was down a trapdoor. Tony was defo down a well. I remember the bricks. I'm not positive it was Tony Robinson though.

Alittleshaderequired · 18/08/2018 22:05

Just remembering Pink Panther too although that’s obv not what the OP is thinking of.

Somanymistakes · 18/08/2018 22:06

Does anyone remember Barnaby the Bear.

I loved it. The theme tune went:

Barnaby the Bear's my name,
Never call me Jack or Jane..."

I can't remember anything else. Possibly he was a trapeze artist in a circus one time??

No one ever mentions it in this kind of thread.

DiabolicalMess · 18/08/2018 22:06

Yes it was well done @RafaIsTheKingOfClay!

gaggiagirl · 18/08/2018 22:06

Shoe people

ScreamingValenta · 18/08/2018 22:07

@zen1 Have you read the script of the never-made final episode of Dungeons and Dragons? Would recommend it to anyone who hasn't!

ClemDanfango · 18/08/2018 22:07

Paw Paw Bears?

vivalafrida · 18/08/2018 22:09

I loved The Family Ness, The Ratties, Dangermouse, Chorlton and The Wheelies,
He-Man and She-Ra, Godzilla...

PiggyPlumPie · 18/08/2018 22:12

Somanymistakes yes! I sang that just yesterday after dinner. It just popped into my head randomly!

Barnaby the Bear's my name
Never call me Jack or James
I will sing my way to fame
Barnaby the Bear's my name
Birds taught me to sing
When they took me to their king

I think I made up the rest! There was a circus involved but it was a looking time ago.

PiggyPlumPie · 18/08/2018 22:13

Long not looking!

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 18/08/2018 22:14

Binkey Bill

woodhill · 18/08/2018 22:15

Yes I remember Barnaby the Bear

How about Marine Boy and

Josie and the pussycats

PrivateParkin · 18/08/2018 22:15

Ah viva I was just about to say I can't believe no-one has mentioned The Family-Ness!
You can knock it, you can rock it
You can go to Timbuktu
But you'll never find a Nessy in the zoo
You may see an anaconda, a giraffe or kangaroo
But you'll never etc.

The 80s was a great time for cartoons, loved so many of the ones mentioned.

What was that weird programme with some woodland creatures in an abbey or something?! Badger type animals - and one of them was called Brother Cedric? Or am I confusing the Raccoons and Farthing Wood???

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 18/08/2018 22:16

And looking Blinky Bill up online the show has a totally different theme tune to the one I watched, which started "Yahoo, didgeridoo, Blinky Bill and all his crew"

Passmethecrisps · 18/08/2018 22:18

I have no idea op but I like your thread!

Many, many years ago when the World Wide Web was all fields I couldn’t get anyone who remembered a cartoon I used to watch. It was called Gideon and featured a duck/swan. I did a lot of AOL searching and found nothing. No one I knew had ever heard of it.

Eventually I emailed channel 4 and got a lovely email back. I was not making it up. Apparently it was loosely based on bible stories
