Also loved Mysterious Cities of Gold, Ulysses 31 and Dogtanian.

Does anyone remember the Dungeons and Dragons Episode where they came back to the fairground but it was like an evil parallel universe so they didn’t stay? (I was obviously over-invested!!)

KatoPotato · 18/08/2018 21:33

Right this is a placeholder, more to give you a laugh at how my expectations of my iPhone sketching vs reality is... I'm going to find a pencil and paper

YES to Ludwig.
There was one with a bird -

Itchytights · 18/08/2018 21:34

Mr Benn

I loved that Grin

TheSpottedZebra · 18/08/2018 21:35

Sorry - one with a ball. They all had the bird.

CupofBeans · 18/08/2018 21:36

Crazylegs Crane?

JeSuisPrest · 18/08/2018 21:38

Gideon the Goose?

limitedscreentime · 18/08/2018 21:38

I know not these but as we are taking a trip down memory lane.... Captain Planet (he’s our hero, gonna take pollution down to zero...)

Pigeon street?

The only crane I can think of is the fox from Robin Hood dressed up to win the archery competition.

Animals of farthing wood? Did that have a crane?

KatoPotato · 18/08/2018 21:40

I don't even think the crane was that important to the actual show? Also could be a stork...

It was a famous piece of classical music that was used....

Ludwig theme music very famous. Not that I know the name however.

Donthugmeimscared · 18/08/2018 21:45

Huxley pig? Think that was a seagull though

DiabolicalMess · 18/08/2018 21:46

Whilst I await a better diagram, what was the programme with Tony Robinson down a well? I think he told stories down there.

UselessTrees · 18/08/2018 21:46

Ooh, what was the shit one with the duck?

beingthere · 18/08/2018 21:47

Cockleshell Bay had classical music I think

DiabolicalMess · 18/08/2018 21:48

I must admit OP, it does ring a bell. Did the long legged bird watch the credits scrolling above his head and periodically look at the 'camera'?

tenbob · 18/08/2018 21:49

Does anyone remember Maxine's World?
And Sharkey and George?

I think Channel 4 did them then Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors/Thundercats/He-Man back to back on Sunday mornings

beingthere · 18/08/2018 21:53

friskybivalves Ludwig named after Beethoven and music was his first symphony.

Alittleshaderequired · 18/08/2018 21:54

I know it’s not a cartoon but I’m just remembering how much I loved The Littlest Hobo’
“Maybe tomorrow I’ll want to settle down. Until tomorrow I’ll just keep moving on”
It always made me cry! Sad Hmm

ShackUp · 18/08/2018 21:55

OP there was a cartoon called The Biskitts that used Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody (I think!):

WhatsYourFuckingProblem · 18/08/2018 21:56

Oh my days, I have found my people. I make my kids watch all the amazing cartoons from my childhood on YouTube and today in the car we listened to (courtesy of Apple Music)
Thundercats, Around the World with Willy Fogg and M.A.S.K.
After each of these I could be heard exclaiming “They just don’t make theme tunes like these anymore!”
We have still to get to Mysterious Cities of Gold in the playlist but by jove I can’t wait.
I also loved Simon and the Witch and Bertha and The Shoe People.

Floppyspanielears · 18/08/2018 21:57

Has anyone suggested button moon or will quak quak?

hugoagogo · 18/08/2018 21:58

Oh god you're ringing bells for me now.
You sure it wasn't that storybook international thing? In Sweden I am Johan, In England I am John! Grin

OnTopOfSpaghetti · 18/08/2018 21:59

hugoagogo I remember that one! What was it called?Hmm

tapdancingmum · 18/08/2018 21:59

As you are all on a roll with cartoons of yesteryear can anyone help me with one that DD1 used to watch (so would've been late 90's, early 00's). It was about one (maybe two) families of leprechauns and set in Ireland. She used to love it but I can't think of what it was called.

I also have no idea about the cartoon the OP is talking about but watched a lot of the ones mentioned.

EnidButton · 18/08/2018 22:00

what was the programme with Tony Robinson down a well?

Yes, wtf was that?

Trap Door was amazing. There's something down there...
