Tell me you HATE your Shark vacuum cleaner...

Dyson has been on the wonk for a while and I'd made my mind up to 'treat' myself to a new Shark when it dies... well, it died today whilst I was out and DH has bought a replacement... a new Dyson 😭😭

I'm prepared to LTB unless you lovely people can convince me he's saved me from a dreadful mistake!

(Lighthearted obvs, I won't LTB I am giving him the silent treatment though)

Sorry. I love my duo clean. The best vacuum ever and no bloody cord! If you get it, get two battery packs.

littlecabbage · 18/08/2018 17:30

I cannot truthfully claim to hate it, so will keep shtum. (Sorry).

flumpybear · 18/08/2018 17:31

Tell him I take it back - or never have sex again! Wink
It's the only way

Can you return the Dyson? At least you have a husband who hoovers, so it's not all bad Smile

MyAuntyBadger · 18/08/2018 17:33

I'm not that keen on mine tbh, but I've never met a hoover I liked.

PurpleWithRed · 18/08/2018 17:35

DH (Head Vacuum Operative) isn't wild about our shark. It's not great on hard floors.

Mind you he wasn't wild about our last Dyson either.

MalloryLaurel · 18/08/2018 17:36

We've had this brand for ages. They're great.

ladygracie · 18/08/2018 17:37

Sorry. I love mine. But I assume a dyson is better. Does that help at all?

TillyTheTiger · 18/08/2018 17:38

My shark is AMAZING on carpets. Agree with PP it's not so hot on hard floors, so if you're in a fully laminated house then maybe let DH off. Otherwise you definitely need to return it (or return him!)

totallyliterally · 18/08/2018 17:40

I own 5 vacuums currently. 2 very cheap ones for cleaning animals out.

1 dyson upright, 1 dyson cordless and a shark pet upright.

The shark is the newest as none of the others were touching the dog hair.

I hate how ugly and clunky the shark is but for cleaning nothing beats it.

Still love my dyson cordless for hard floors and upstairs (where dog do any go) so much easier.

But if you've a pet the shark wins it all

crisscrosscranky · 18/08/2018 17:43

We're a hardwood floor house with an eternally moulting Labrador.

Can't return the Dyson- by the time I'd got home he'd bought and used it (he's a rare breed!)

xFreePeaceSweetx · 18/08/2018 17:45

I love mine. It's so easy on my back and for doing the stairs.

xFreePeaceSweetx · 18/08/2018 17:58

Btw if you do decide to buy do it direct from Shark and order the corded one that you can use as an upright I really recommend you buy the little blue wheeled attachment. It turns it into a pull along and means you can use both hands freely.

Atthebottomofthesea · 18/08/2018 18:07

I am about to push the pile of rubbish that is the dyson off a cliff. The only saving grace is due to their 5 yr warranty we recently had it pretty much rebuilt.

Anyway I have my eye on a shark but a corded one.

SoyDora · 18/08/2018 18:10

Love my shark. It’s a corded one though.

ImMissHannigan · 18/08/2018 18:17

I just got a shark, after years of problems with dyson vacuums. And I love it. Comes with two batteries so one charging the other being used. It's really good on my carpets and tiles. Only negatives are it needs emptying a bit too often and you do need the two batteries as they only last 15 mins or so. I wouldn't have a dyson again.

TomHardysNextWife · 18/08/2018 18:17

I've got a Shark corded and I can't believe how much cleaner our carpets look since the horrid bastard Dyson we had died.

It's got lights on the front that are a godsend - my only criticism is that it has a tendency to topple over when you're using the hoze/nozzle.

I'd never have a Dyson again. The Shark is also a lot lot easier to clean.

Sorry Grin.

SlowDown76mph · 18/08/2018 18:20

I hated my Dyson. I hate my Shark less.

sweetkitty · 18/08/2018 19:14

I’m just about to buy a Shatk I think (or maybe a Miele) can’t decide. The Dyson is good on the hard floors downstairs but absolutely rubbish on the carpets. I have a dog and 2 cats plus shedding teenagers.

Someone tell me what to buy it’s too hard?

Atthebottomofthesea · 18/08/2018 19:16

Question for shark users. I am looking at the corded ones that you can then lift off the little bit. One of the many, many things we hate about the Dyson is the filter. Does a shark have the same set up?

WilburIsSomePig · 18/08/2018 19:17

Kill him.

I've had 3 Dysons (DH bought the second one) and think they're shit, especially if you have pets. I LOVE my Shark, it's the best cleaner I've ever had.

WilburIsSomePig · 18/08/2018 19:18

I have the Shark Lift Away @Atthebottomofthesea and it's brilliant for doing the stairs etc.

BruceAndNosh · 18/08/2018 19:19

It's HIS Dyson.
Let HIM use it. Keep your hands off....

ReservoirDogs · 18/08/2018 19:19

Its much easier tonget to rhe shark filter to wash it.

I have the Shark corded liftaway. I love it. Does my hard floors fine and and amazing on carpets. Intrigued by a pp saying about wheel attachment

DameSquashalot · 18/08/2018 19:19

We've got a Shark, corded. I love it, but mainly for all the different attachments that can be used without having to change bits.

The suction on my Miele was amazing.
