How many times do we have to tell you? Yes we still all hate summer!

(But tentatively looking forward to autumn.)

I felt a bit less sweaty than last time. Hot and muggy here today. Supposed to be 17 and rainy here tomorrow, though! Hurrah!

Bowls of ice round the cot might help, if you have any spare. Why didn't I think about that weeks ago? I read about it in a book set in India.

Notlostjustexploring · 21/08/2018 23:01

Aww.Sad there is nothing worse than watching a small tot trying to sleep in this heat. It's just so rotten for them. A straw to grasp - hanging a couple of wet muslins over the cot while the fan circulates the air can help a wee bit I've found.

Sapphire I feel I can sort of sympathise with you over the suntan. My toddler is currently sporting an epic suntan and he's not set foot outside without a slathering of spf50! It's actually a bit embarrassing in case people think I'm bringing up a sun worshipper....

I've also been wearing the same sandals since may and the resultant tan lines are hideous. My feel just look filthy!

FurryDice · 22/08/2018 08:05

What the fuck is this shit? Fucking 24 degree temps first week of September.

Arghhhhhh

I want it to stop. I feel personally offended and affronted by all this heat now

31 here today, then 27 tomorrrow. :(

SapphireSeptember · 22/08/2018 12:21

Notlostjustexploring My mum has said similar about my niece, she's practically been soaked in suncream but has tanlines! It's been so hot and so sunny it can't be helped.

More packing, and LOTS of swearing, there's been a bag of clean clothes dropped on the floor, which now need washing (again) a box of lipsticks knocked on the floor, and I had to scrabble around trying to find them all, thought I'd lost two but found them, eventually, after even more swearing! I knocked a mug onto the floor, that had two more lipsticks in it, I found them but the lid had come off one and I'm going to have to wash that one (I'm going to have to rinse off all of them, because they are really dusty now, but that's the only one that needs internal washing.) Last night after a loud crashing noise I found my bag of shower gels, a top and some scarves on the floor (more washing!) I am so sick of washing! Aargh! Can I get someone else to do it? Preferably someone who owns a tumble dryer!

I also can't wait to live somewhere clean! My in laws don't seem to believe in cleaning (I had to buy my own vacuum cleaner) or in throwing anything away. They need to be on one of those documentaries about hoarders. I wish 'How Clean Is Your House' was still going. Kim and Aggie would have a field day!

Parasite Where are you? That sounds horrible!

Skyejuly · 22/08/2018 15:39

26 here:( so many bastard flies here!

MotherofPearl · 22/08/2018 15:53

Very hot here today in Northern Spain. Am really looking forward to returning to the UK on Friday, where rain and a max of 19c is forecast for where I am in the NW.

Sorry to see how badly everyone is still suffering.

StrangeLookingParasite · 22/08/2018 18:05

Parasite Where are you? That sounds horrible!

In Paris. The veneer on my Ikea table is mangledbecause I sweated on it too much. Ew.

SapphireSeptember · 22/08/2018 18:21

I'm sorry, but that made me laugh! Pretty flimsy veneer though, what if you'd spilt tea on it?

FurryDice · 22/08/2018 19:52

Not quite as bad as feared today. Temp was around 25 I think but not as much sun so less solar gain, thank fuck. Rain forecast for tomorrow morning (although the probability percentage is on the low side) then afternoon sun.

The miraculous 16 forecast for Saturday has now crept up to 18. Sigh.

Notlostjustexploring · 22/08/2018 23:40

Bah! Ours has gone back up to 18, with sunshine forecast.
If it was actually going to be that, it would probably make for a lovely day. Except I'm adding on 5 degrees to any forecast and it's usually more realistic.

I think I'm also now a bit twitchy at any suggestions of rising temperatures and automatically think the worst...

StrangeLookingParasite · 23/08/2018 00:22

I'm sorry, but that made me laugh! Pretty flimsy veneer though, what if you'd spilt tea on it?

Hah, oh it's absolutely flimsy - it's Ikea! But I have spilt many drinks on and done next to no damage. The long sweaty exposure from my right arm and wrist has wrecked it, though! (Oh noes)

hugoagogo · 23/08/2018 08:02

Nice and cool this morning- long may it last.Grin
Could do without dh exuding heat and BREATHING all night long though.Angry

Hercy · 23/08/2018 16:59

It's felt quite warm today, especially now the sun is shining directly on my house. But at least it's not crazy hot.

I can't help but laugh....I have been wishing for cool, grey, rainy days for so long. Seems I'm going to get my wish on Sunday...when we're supposed to be hosting a BBQ Grin

hugoagogo · 24/08/2018 09:08

It was so amazing to sleep properly last night instead of laying on the bed dozing fitfully waiting til morning and getting more and more annoyed and frustrated. I can't remember the last time it happened.

treedragon · 24/08/2018 10:41

It is 18 degrees in the house. I can't remember what this ever felt like and thought I was perhaps going down with a lurgee! I also shivered this morning! Perhaps have got conditioned to the heat!

The air feels breathable today too. It's lovely. Hello jeans, terry jogger bottoms and long sleeve tee shirts. How I have missed you XX

Notlostjustexploring · 24/08/2018 14:24

It's raining.Grin

Properly aired my house out today, and the temperature within my house has officially dropped below 20!!!!

Happy days.

FurryDice · 24/08/2018 20:19

Properly peeing down here with a temp of 13 outside and still 22 in my bedroom. I will fully open the windowsonce it stops raining to cool it further, though.

Now tonight should be a duvet night, hurrah! Still only using a summer duvet, though.

Hope everyone is having a cool one.

Checking in. Back from hols to a truly delightfully cool NW. DP thinks I'm being ridiculous because I said like crying from relief to finally be cool!

Forecast looking mixed for next couple of weeks. Some cool days of 17 or 18, but a few 22s in there as well. Still, I suppose after what we've endured this summer, 22 is okay. Really hope you get some relief in your flat soon, Furry. You really do deserve a break after spending months in an oven, practically.

Waves to all. Smile

UtterlyConfused111 · 24/08/2018 23:06

Woo hoo! It’s lovely..., what a relief...

SapphireSeptember · 25/08/2018 00:33

Hello peeps. I feel cold! My room is the coldest in the house! I feel weird, I woke up to go to the loo last night and was shivering by the time I got back to bed, and yet about a month ago it was too hot to sleep!

I hope your flat gets the message Furry! It's time to chill! ❄❄☃☃⛄⛄
