How many times do we have to tell you? Yes we still all hate summer!

(But tentatively looking forward to autumn.)

I felt a bit less sweaty than last time. Hot and muggy here today. Supposed to be 17 and rainy here tomorrow, though! Hurrah!

Me too Hugo. The forecast looks much better from Thursday onwards, just a couple of sweaty days to get through first😬

Yesterdayizdone1 · 21/08/2018 09:39

BAck from a walk and I didn't sweat 💦
Yah !!

Yesterdayizdone1 · 21/08/2018 17:01

How is everyone?

Yesterdayizdone1 · 21/08/2018 17:37

Hope you all haven't melted away :(

Oh no
I had to have a warm shower to warm up
Put it on the cool setting and I was shivering

Yes, boiling here too, @Mrsr8. Temp outside supposedly 26 but it’s at least 30 in my living room, and yes the heat is oppressive.

So, another 26 tomorrow, then 22 Thursday and then a drop to a miraculous 16 on Saturday (believe that when I see it); but then gradually rising again to start September on 23s.

Ugh!

(Thanks for the cake and flowers, peeps)

I'm choosing to believe the 16degrees. It's the only thing stopping me from looking up jobs on Orkney.

I'm also choosing to ignore long range forecasts that predict warm weather. However any long range forecasts that predict overnight frosts (remember those....) I chose to believe.

I'm enjoying my land of denial where winter begins imminently....

Notlostjustexploring · 21/08/2018 18:24

Actually, I've just remembered the kicker for today. Got boiler serviced and a radiator repaired.

Our heating went on today, albeit briefly, to check the repair worked.

Unimpressed...🔥 ☀

Skyejuly · 21/08/2018 18:26

I'm so clammy. I swear I am worse than everyone else. I hate it.

FurryDice · 21/08/2018 18:27

Sounds like a plan. Oof re the heating, though

I agree that the best course of action is to ignore forecasts...and other annoying things...

So muggy here today. Hot and damp. Disgusting.

FurryDice · 21/08/2018 19:05

It’s just so bloody tedious ... and I’m not merely talking about the weather.

Anyway, no more about that.

I did look at the long range forecast recently but it keeps changing all the time, and it was either Lighthouse or Helena who said they can’t actually forecast more than a couple of days in advance? So not worth stressing over.

I say that but I’ll no doubt still be peeking at it and stressing.

So sticky today. I’m holding off for as long as possible to have a nice cool shower. Not much point til the bastard sun fucks off for the night

Yes, the minute I get back on this thread, the viral ear buzzing returns

Saw a neighbour when I got in, the one whose flat faces the other way and told me he is worried summer is over a week or so ago

He said "ooh I owe you an apology, I was in someone's flat on your side, they are thinking to move, it's horrible and apparently this summer has finished them".

And I said "you mean a renter, yes?" And he said "nope, they own and they've been here a while". It made me think of @HelenaDove stats about the last few years, we only have last year for comparison in this flat.

Will find out who it is at next residents meeting I guess.

Today was a lot worse than forecast. Ugh. I see a rise in temps from Tuesday but again hope they are wrong.

FurryDice · 21/08/2018 19:47

I know somebody’s got to live in the hotter flats but I wish it wasn’t us!

If you go online and google about this, you'll see a lot of the newer builds are a major problem. So actually there's a whole bunch of buildings that could have cladding removed and insulation taken out - like Helena's place where it was added and no one wanted it - and windows altered to open properly and be able to left open.

SapphireSeptember · 21/08/2018 21:01

I actually have a tan, my arms especially are several shades darker than the rest of me (despite sun cream and a parasol!) I am most unimpressed. Angry I am a Goth, and we do not tan! I like being pale and transparent looking... Oh well, that's my vitamin D for the winter sorted, I suppose.

The past two days haven't felt that hot in my neck of the woods, (compared to recent temperatures) but the humidity has been horrendous. By the time I'd walked to work this morning I was a soggy, sweaty mess. I didn't realise my eyelids could sweat so much. Grim. It rained yesterday, but that made it feel worse!

LighthouseSouth · 21/08/2018 21:03

Ooh I saw some lovely Gothic art at a stall near work today.

I just popped over to the Weather topic to see if our lovely forecasters, Gloria and Kitten, had any long term thoughts

Guess who I found there talking about how this has been "the best summer ever"?
No, I'm not offering a prize if you get it right Grin

SapphireSeptember · 21/08/2018 21:47

Nice! I'm no good at art, but I am a reasonable writer, or so I think. Smile

BBC weather claims it's going to be 16°C on Saturday! Shock I'm so excited!

It hasn't been the best summer ever, it's been awful! Last year wasn't too bad.

UtterlyConfused111 · 21/08/2018 21:53

Omg. It’s 29 degrees in DC room according to the baby monitor. It’s sticky and disgusting and tomorrow will be hotter - 26 degrees. When will this just fucking end? I’m so sick of this never ending heat. I hate it.
Sorry all. I kind of thought it was over, and it would be cooler now till September and so I’m frustrated and it feels like the school holidays will never ever end.

UtterlyConfused111 · 21/08/2018 22:00

Forecast changed to 27 for tomorrow. Kill me now.

LighthouseSouth · 21/08/2018 22:07

I feel for you Utterly. Will baby sleep in that temp?

UtterlyConfused111 · 21/08/2018 22:12

She’s trying - I have the fan on full blast pointing at her. She’s whimpering a bit in her sleep though; and she usually sleeps well so I’m guessing she’s not comfortable. The windows are open so hoping it cools down as the night progresses.
