Gino D'Acampo a burgler?!

cjt110 · 15/08/2018 10:23

I am really shocked to read this www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6061061/Paul-Young-admits-20-year-old-burglary-Gino-DAcampo-hit-home-again.html - sorry a Daily Fail link.

For those who don't want to read the above, Gino D'Acampo burgled Paul Young's home in 1998 and was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

Shock Not a big fan of his or anything but wow....

I don't think the money somebody has. affects their feelings of somebody breaking into their house I am sure all victims feel the same.

I don't think the money somebody has. affects their feelings of somebody breaking into their house I am sure all victims feel the same. I agree wholeheartedly.

Perhaps I had not heard about this as I'm not a Gino fan, plus I was approx 10 when this happened. I didnt realise it was "common knowledge"

I am not a Gino supporter but someone who thinks justice/rehabilitation are important matters that should be defended.

His loss of his partner is not connected.

Loonoon · 15/08/2018 11:36

I’m not a fan of his, I find him annoying in the extreme but this is very old news. And having a criminal record does not mean you are always or still, a criminal. He did his time, has never denied his past and has been on the straight and narrow for twenty years. As far as we are aware he is now an honest, working man.

It’s pretty impressive he has rebuilt his life considering how high recidivism rates are in the UK It is very hard for prisoners to get any sort of employment once released because of attitudes like ‘ he is a criminal because he has a criminal record’, so for him to get work in the first place was good going, let alone achieve the level of success he has.

ASliceOfArcticRoll · 15/08/2018 11:39

Blaming the victim here is just weird.

And as to saying the victim's richer and the robber poorer..I mean come on.

SofieMonde · 15/08/2018 11:45

thought it said he was a burger lol Seriously it is shocking to discover this about him, didnt know either. Feel bad for Young, but Gino has turned his life around. Even attending acting classes to master that fake Italian accent haha jk

TodayTodayToday · 15/08/2018 11:50

Shock at the people with zero empathy for a victim of crime and a recent widow whilst only having empathy for a burgler.

Nowt as weird as folk!

TheShermanator · 15/08/2018 11:51

once scum, always scum

Elementtree · 15/08/2018 11:54

I am not a Gino supporter but someone who thinks justice/rehabilitation are important matters that should be defended.

But justice and rehabilitation has occurred. Nothing about justice and rehabilitation means the victim of a crime has to shut the fuck up about it once time has been served. There's no onus on anyone to forget, regardless about anyone's feelings on the matter.

Romcomjunkie · 15/08/2018 11:57

Paul Young probably got asked about it, no? Rather than just thinking ‘oh I’ll bring that up again...’

HollyGibney · 15/08/2018 11:57

I can't stand him either but am wondering why this keeps coming back up? Paul Young mentioned it on Good Morning a couple of weeks ago and now it's in the press again today.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 15/08/2018 11:57

Only on Mumsnet would a man who was burgled and then lost his wife be criticized for speaking publicly about the fact the burglary deprived him of many memories of his wife - while the burglar is sympathized with!

I was burgled many years ago and still have anxiety related to it. I don't give a fuck if that burglar turns out to win the Nobel Peace Prize - he caused real damage to me that I
will never get over so why should he get to move on and I don't?

This burglar hasn't even won a Peace Prize - he's just a trumped up "seleb" chef. Pathetic.

ASliceOfArcticRoll · 15/08/2018 12:00

Yes it's a nasty crime.

bluebell34567 · 15/08/2018 12:02

why is he mentioning it again and again. he served his time. i think its because he wants to be on the media.
i dont watch gino much, i get bored but some of his stuff is useful. also, as far as i remember, he won 'i am a celebrity get me out of here'.
he is more fair than p.andre.

goingtotown · 15/08/2018 12:34

Fake little thieving twerp.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 15/08/2018 12:54

I’m no Gino fan, can’t bear him. But fair enough he’s done his time.

However the fact he’s pursued a career in the public eye means he must know that his past will get raked up from time to time. I don’t feel sorry for him at all, burglary may not be violent crime but it’s very upsetting and a total violation of someone’s privacy no matter how rich they are. Paul Young has done nothing wrong!

FuckYouLily · 15/08/2018 13:08

I was burgled twelve years ago, I was asleep at the time. Since then I've never slept all through the night, I don't suppose 'my' burglar worries about that at all.

StrangeLookingParasite · 15/08/2018 13:12

once scum, always scum

Wow. So remorse, rehabilitation is never possible, eh?

ManicUnicorn · 15/08/2018 13:18

Shocking that some people are blaming the victim. But then Gino very much appeals to certain section of society, so I'm unsuprised that people on here are defending.

Paul Young has recently lost his wife and is fucking greiving for Christ's sake. Shame on you.

HowsAnnie25 · 15/08/2018 16:41

If I was a victim of a crime and people told me to stop raking it up, I would be pretty pissed off to be honest!!

goingtotown · 15/08/2018 22:18

How’s it been possible for him to have a TV career?

Dowser · 15/08/2018 22:22

It wasn’t common knowledge to me

SimonBridges · 15/08/2018 22:34

How’s it been possible for him to have a TV career?

Stephen Fry went to prison for fraud.

HelenaDove · 16/08/2018 00:28

"Only on Mumsnet would a man who was burgled and then lost his wife be criticized for speaking publicly about the fact the burglary deprived him of many memories of his wife - while the burglar is sympathized with!"

YEP . Paul Young has not gone on and on about this at all Losing his wife has probably caused him to think about the old times that they spent together a lot and this burglary was part of that time.

i heard the way Gino was talking about his own family on Wossy and he came across as a bit controlling.

HelenaDove · 16/08/2018 00:28

YY Manic Unicorn i agree
