cjt110 · 15/08/2018 10:23

I am really shocked to read this www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6061061/Paul-Young-admits-20-year-old-burglary-Gino-DAcampo-hit-home-again.html - sorry a Daily Fail link.

For those who don't want to read the above, Gino D'Acampo burgled Paul Young's home in 1998 and was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

Shock Not a big fan of his or anything but wow....

I don’t like him

cjt110 · 15/08/2018 11:02

IwankaTramp No, I'm not. I am shocked to read that he has a criminal past - and not a petty one.

Paul Young has done nothing wrong! He has always been very gracious about the whole thing. All he said was that he is upset all over again about losing songs containing his late wife's voice - which is completely understandable. He owes the man who burgled his house nothing.

Vitalogy · 15/08/2018 11:04

My son doesn't believe he's really Italian Grin

IwankaTramp · 15/08/2018 11:06

He nicked stuff from a wealthy person, not great but not violent etc.

I think he should be able to move on with his life having already been punished.

I feel reallly sorry for him.

MadMum101 · 15/08/2018 11:07

TBH I think the kind of person who could invade a strangers home and flick his FAG BUTT on their bedroom floor, not to mention stealing stuff, is scum TBH. He was caught from DNA so obviously had previous. This was not an isolated Incident. Makes you wonder why he left Italy.

I would still be furious if I was Paul Young at how this has been minimised and written off as a 'one off'. Never could stand his fake cheesiness long before I found this out.

badasscafe1 · 15/08/2018 11:07

seems to be just daily fail stirring it up- after reading the article it isn't clear to me how Paul Young has even raised the issue- he's been very forgiving over the years.

Pinkkahori · 15/08/2018 11:07

I'm no fan of Gino Di Campo but I think I am sensitive about this because I have a friend with a lovely husband who was in prison for a similar crime in his youth.
He had totally lost his way in life but served his time and completely turned his life around. He is an amazing dad, a lovely husband and runs a successful business. He volunteers in the community and was a huge support to me in a difficult time in my life.
Very few people know about his past and they would be heartbroken if anyone was to consider him still a criminal because of a mistake nearly 30 years ago.

TodayTodayToday · 15/08/2018 11:08

Is that you Gino?

IwankaTramp · 15/08/2018 11:09

Paul Young had years to record his wife’s voice for posterity. It was not irreplaceable.

There is just no justification for raising this apart from revenge.

turnandtwist · 15/08/2018 11:09

I feel more sad that Stacey died so young, awful.

NoelHeadbands · 15/08/2018 11:10

Nice bit of victim blaming there.

Lalliella · 15/08/2018 11:11

I agree with Iwanka. I’m sure lots more recordings of his wife’s voice exist. It’s mean-spirited of him to raise this again. And talking of past crimes, he murdered “Love will tear us apart”.

MarthaArthur · 15/08/2018 11:12

I did know about this. It is a sad one. I dont feel sorry for Gino at all (though i do like him). Theres nothing to feel sorry for him for. He burgled and served his time, became rehabilitated and now makes a lot of people happy. Good for him.

Burglary is a horrid crime and paul young has every right to still be upset by it 20 years later.

bruffin · 15/08/2018 11:13

I think his criminal record will have been spent by now

Annabelle4 · 15/08/2018 11:13

I was shocked too when I read that OP, I had no idea.

ichifanny · 15/08/2018 11:16

The only reason he probably isn’t a criminal now is the fact he managed to break into lucrative showbiz , I think burglary takes some boundary crossing and criminologists theorise that people capable of burglary tend to go on to commit other violent crimes . Just because he made money and doesn’t need to steal things doesn’t make him automatically a man who has come good .

IwankaTramp · 15/08/2018 11:17

Paul Young has had a very privileged life compared to most. He has had the means to replace anything material lost, unlike some in society.

I don’t know about Gino’s background and what caused him to go down this path .I do believe though that people can learn from mistakes and change accordingly and it looks like he has, so this is unfair.

DurhamDurham · 15/08/2018 11:18

I'm just wondering how forgiving Gino would be if someone burgled his family home. It wasn't a one off and it wasn't a victimless crime, it doesn't make it ok to steal of someone just because they're wealthy Hmm

butlerswharf · 15/08/2018 11:18

He's been open about this for years. Old news.

ichifanny · 15/08/2018 11:19

Burglary isn’t just the loss of material possessions it’s horribly evasive and can have emotional repercussions having your personal boundaries crossed and not feeling safe or secure .

derxa · 15/08/2018 11:22

Gino is very annoying and tbh I'm not surprised to hear this about him.

MrsJayy · 15/08/2018 11:23

Paul young was doing the celeb that cooks thing for a while I wonder if Gino was scaredhe was afterhis this morning slot Grin. Gino is pals with the keithlemon gang I can't stand any of them

SimonBridges · 15/08/2018 11:23

Well I’ve never heard of Gino and I think that bringing it up again is rather a shitty thing to do.
From reading the Fail item it seems that they are the ones bringing it up, not PY.
I know many people who did stupid things like this in their past and are now truly ashamed of what they did.

TodayTodayToday · 15/08/2018 11:24

Poor Paul, the victim and trying to come to terms with the loss of his wife, the posts being made about him by Gino supporters is heartless.
