Does this drive anyone else mad? More and more recently I'm seeing people write 'his' instead of 'he's' or 'he is'. Why?? For example "His going to the shop soon." It's not interchangeable with them so stop doing it!!

I like greengrocer's apostrophes and spelling. There's something reassuring about cauli's and spinige.
There's a local shop selling Bed's and Sofa's.

Given the amount of people asking us to 'bear with me' on here, are there any baby boys called Bare, or is this just bear-faced cheek on my part?
Setting a president - can anyone trump that one?

I would be truly horrified if I saw a greengrocers selling 'spinige' Shock

@applesauce1 It heartens me to know I’m not the only one at war with the rogue apostrophe!

MikeUniformMike · 13/08/2018 22:17

But they're greengrocers!

Saw a freecycle post offering 'cushion innards' this evening.
Another post offered a 'double duvan' - a combined bed base and quilt perhaps?

applesauce1 · 13/08/2018 23:01

Seen in B&Q today. I deduce that the person responsible wasn't completely sure of the rules for apostrophe usage for acronyms and decided the hedge their bets by trying both.

Well I know that, but I'd expect them to sell spinach to be honest. My point was that a greengrocers should know how to spell it!

I was just checking FB when I came across a post from someone “going threw a brake up”.

2ducks2ducklings · 14/08/2018 06:35

Lordy, it really drives me crazy! I see it all the bloody time on Facebook and it baffles me how anyone can write it and think it makes sense.
