I bloody bloody hate sodding Ryanair!!!

Flew to Rome on Wednesday and was delayed an hour. Flew home today and was delayed two hours. No staff anywhere in the airport. Should have left 2pm then it changed to 2.55 then 2.30 then 3. 15 then 3.
45. We were nearly an hour waiting to be boarded. I sat on the floor under an alarm which kept going off.
I had a rant at the cabin crew when I got on board and they blamed the airport. Now finally on the train home. Everyone warned me what they were like.
Lesson well and truly learnt!!!

Delays happen all the time, and yours weren't particularly long. Ranting at the crew is rude and uncalled for.

If they blamed the airport... Maybe it was the airport? How do you know it wasn't?!

I'm fairly certain it wasnt the airport. They announced it was due to the flight being delayed coming in...

Pretty much every flight from Ciampino was delayed this morning. Did you not notice all the other delays on the departures board?

I hate Ryanair too - so many bad experiences.

Only ours and one other this afternoon. All the others were ok.

But there were delays all morning, you can check online. Those delays are going to have a knock on effect.

I travel a lot, always have, and IME delays are usually due to the airport or the weather, very rarely the airline itself. Airlines are at the mercy of airports giving them take off and landing slots, who they give priority to in that process, how fast they allocate them a gate on arrival, how fast the bags are loaded/unloaded, etc. The pilot basically has very little control over when the plane takes off and whether it's on schedule or not.

It wasn’t ideal but it was also only 2h.

I’ve flown with Ryanair 3 or 4 times without issue, most recently in June. However I’ve always been on edge about something going wrong, in a way I haven’t been with other budget airlines. Their strikes over this summer has ensured I won’t be flying with them again, ther will always be an alternative

Unfortunately there have been rumours for a while that some Ryanair flights would be delayed, or cancelled, this week/weekend - substantiated by this report on the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45139077 dated yesterday.

I'm guessing that, even if only a few airports were supposed to be affected, there would have, inevitably been a knock-on affect on all of their flights.

A friend was due to fly Ryanair to another friend's weekend this weekend. He's been worried about it for the last 2 weeks. I have no idea whether he managed to get there, or not.

Weren't there planned strikes by Ryanair staff this weekend? Maybe this had a knock on effect? Certainly flights were cancelled from our local, regional airport.

I don't mean you should have known about this OP. I think if you flew out on Wednesday it would have been too late.

I fly with Ryanair about six times a year. Delays of up to an hour leaving sometimes, but they seem to make up half an hour during the flight so only arrive half an hour late (Spain or Italy, Ireland is too short a flight to make up the difference). It only stresses me out if my sister's collecting me (Ireland), if I'm collecting a hire car it doesn't bother me. Airport delays are like traffic jams, just part of modern life. I hope you had a good time in Rome and it didn't spoil it for you.

Two hours delay really isn´t that much. Yes, the delay was probably due to the plane coming in late, but that will have been due to delays at the previous airport or even the one before that. I doubt the cabin crew and pilots were all sitting around drinking coffee for two hours just so that your flight could be delayed.

IMERyanair will usually admit when it is there fault. We had a 3 hour or so delay with them, due to a fault under their control. They were great. Once they knew the delay would be happening they issued us all with lunch vouchers at the airport. And once they knew it would hit a certain time limit they announced they'd be sending out the compensation forms by email. It arrived whilst we were waiting. Used it to claim and they paid out within 4-6 weeks.

And airports really do have faults and can cause all manner of delays.

Tbh ive never really encountered many delays with RA. You definitely get far more with Ryan Air, and last 2 or 3 BA flights have had delays. Sister has just had a 6 hour delay with TUI. Delays are not limited to RA. It's just par for the course when flying, esp at peak times.

I've never flown with Ryanair but amazingly I've still had similar delays at airports from Rome to Cape Town and with airlines from EasyJet to Emirates.
Ranting at the staff is never going to solve anything - just marks you out as a bit of a dick really.

I must be the rarest person. I have only flown once and it was ryanair and staff were lovely. I only got delayed by 3 hours on the way home due to severe fog but it was all fine and i got home eventually.

Why were you sat underneath an alarm that kept going off??? :S why didn't you move?
